January 20, 2020"Iowa State guard Ashley Joens collected her third Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week award this season, while K-State's Ayoka Lee and Texas' Celeste Taylor shared Freshman of the Week honors. This is Lee's sixth award this season and the second for Taylor.
Joens averaged 24.0 points and 12.5 rebounds, while shooting 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from the field in games against TCU and Oklahoma State. Joens dropped 31 points and hauled in 15 boards, while going 10-of-18 from the floor against the Horned Frogs. On the road at Oklahoma State, she netted 17 points and hauled in 10 boards, one of which helped seal the win for the Cyclones as she scored a basket with 20 seconds remaining.
Lee added her eighth double-double of the season and narrowly missed her ninth last week. She averaged 12.0 points including a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line, 9.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in the two games. Against Oklahoma State, Lee tallied a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a steal. Against Texas, she again notched 12 points including eight in the fourth quarter during K-State's rally. She also hauled in nine rebounds, pocketed a steal and blocked a shot.
For the week, Taylor averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, made a team-best five three-pointers and came up with a team-best nine steals in the Longhorns' wins over Texas Tech and K-State. In the K-State game, she scored 15 points (two shy of her career high), made a career-high four three-pointers and swiped a career-high seven steals. Her seven steals tied for eighth-most in a single game in program history."
