That is too bad but not unexpected. Kim has been recruiting her for years.

Disappointed because I thought we had a chance but Kim has recruited her for yrs and she is a LA. girl and the siren song to stay home is very strong.

I'm shocked that mean evil old witch who nobody liked could pull in the #1 player in the nation. I thought all the AAU coaches hated her and she couldn't recruit anymore. Dammit I was misled.

What about the one that nobody wants to play in her system? Surely the #1 player in the nation who is a guard wouldn't want to play in that old antiquated system.

What impact might this have on recruits who have yet to announce their commitments?

Probably not much unless a good friend is involved. Lots of people don't care for Baton Rouge, just like many don't want NYC or LA for personal reasons or even climate or culture. Besides now a days good coaches are not to be found in just a few select schools. Good players will go where they see the playing time and have a coach that has shown an upward rising track record. The days of sitting on the bench in Storrs just so you can get a ring versus not having a chance to be top dog someplace else and still have a good chance for a ring are long gone.

I am not worried. We did very well last cycle and I have no doubt we will again. No one gets all the players they want. Again, our staff has been on the job about a year so they are still fighting from behind because of pre-established relationships for many 2023s and to a degree 2024s but I am confident we will sign a very talented and competitive class for 2023.

I definitely agree. I do not think getting # 1 player would cause a player to commit to a school. It could cause some players to not commit if they play same position.

Like you said, I think players are looking at coach, playing time and culture fit.

Its real easy to look good recruiting when your doners pony up $ 100,000.00 each for 2 recruits !! Looks like LSU is in a battle with Texas to have the best team money can buy.
But, Hey since you are such a big Baylor rooter why don't you pony up a $ 100.0K to help Nicki look like a fantastic recruiter like Kim.

Dude stop. Had Kim remained here, we would've without a doubt had Wagner, Williams, Reese, and others.

Don't try and use the NIL **** for Kims case. I'm not making this a Mulkey love post situation, but the woman has hardware to show for it, and one of the top resumes in WBB to show for it.

She's simply doing the exact same thing there, that she did here.

Y'all are quick to downplay the success she's having as if she didn't WIN.

Those trophies we use as a recruiting tool? Yea, she's using those as well, but she can actually say she GOT those trophies to these recruits.

Please explain Kim's excellent recruiting classes prior to NIL? You keep making excuses for why she's having success at LSU for what? She's a hell of a coach one of the best ever in the woman's game, did you really think she was going to fail at LSU?

Nicki got a higher rated recruiting class than Kim last year.

Where's he "celebrating" at? Mocking AP and his posse for their idiotic takes on Mulkey is far from celebrating.

Ashley Hodge just corroborated the $100,000 NIL for Mikayla on the main board. Reese was scheduled to visit us immediately after the LSU visit and then she goes on LSU visit and gets big NIL and cancels her visit.. also confirmed by Ashley. We had a lot of momentum in her recruitment until then.

Moving back home has reenergized Kim, She looks better, she sounds better, she looks healthier, she is highly motivated again (haven't seen that in years) - I am actually very happy for her. As I have said many times before on this blog and I repeat again that BU owes KM a debt that cannot ever be paid. That 2005 Team saved Baylor Athletics ....I did not say Baylor Womens Basketball ...I said BAYLOR ATHLETICS !! ...Kim decided to leave for her own reasons. She was not fired !! I know a lot more then the "average bear" about what went on the last four years of Kim's tenure - I see no upside to dragging up old and buried bones - I chose to let it go - but I will argue the facts with anyone and their emotional defense of Kim ...suffice to say a change was needed and we got a good one in Nicki and her staff and LSU got a good one as well. I do not see why we can't all say that this was a rare win, win for everyone and move on - FORWARD if you will.
Several times you have touted Kim's successes - OK I acknowledge them and celebrated them just as you have but you and others refuse to also acknowledge her failures - ie. losing to teams with less talent in the Tournament. You have to take the whole pie - you just can't cut out a quarter slice and say this is CKM's great legacy - You have to take the whole pie.
But it's amazing how blind loyalty can be with you Mulkey loyalists who jump, holler and scream anytime CKM is mentioned regardless of the facts. If you don't think $ 100.0K did not sway a 18 YO and a 21 YO to sign with LSU then you and the others are beyond a having rational discussion with - Nicki lost a coveted recruit to Kim because of NIL $$$."It was the $$$ stupid" as the saying goes !!!! Could Nicki have signed her if the playing field was level - I would like for Nicki to have had the chance.

That is a huge catch for LSU. Williams is a terrific player. Her ties to Louisiana may have helped, but Mulkey had an association with her that went back several years, and the ability to pay considerable sums for top talent was probably the clincher. Baylor's position in the Williams' sweepstakes is not known to me, but huge sums of money for a player, as opposed to a more reasonable amount that represents interest and commitment but not enough to cause resentment and possible division in the locker room (and I am hypothesizing here), seem to me to be counter-productive for a program like ours.

No one should doubt the ability of Kim Mulkey to adjust to the new realities in college sports and use the considerable resources available to her in Baton Rouge to her advantage. She is a charismatic person and one of the most competitive I have ever seen. Her departure came as a surprise to me, but there is a time for change and as things now stand, both LSU and Baylor have benefitted from the new order of things at their institutions.

Somewhere along the line you lost your objectivity regarding Kim.. Where you see failures, I look up in the rafters and see a dynasty of excellence, banner after banner. She is likely the greatest Baylor coach we'll see in our lifetimes. Period!

I'm glad to see Kim having great success at LSU. I would love to see her get another natty. Hopefully, we can keep an upward trajectory and have another one in our future. For certain, we won't see the drop-off of Tennessee or Notre dame. We are in good hands and will continue to be relevent. Hats off to Nikki and staff.

HOF Coaches attract a lot of big donors to a program. It's a fact of life. She did it here and will do it at LSU. NiL helps the player see a lot more of it.

Nikki will have an opportunity to build a following of donors as well.

As I said previously I know things you have no idea about - They are closed up in a Ferrell closet now and that is where they belong as far as I am concerned - I do however know where that closet is so my so called "lost objectivity" is based on facts and actual interaction with Kim, players, parents and AAU teams and I'll leave it at that.
As for the banners - Yes I do see them but what you refuse to acknowledge is what could have and should have been hanging and are not hanging. I gave Kim credit where credit was due. I have been honest and very appreciative about Kim's enormous contribution to Baylor but that same honest assessment can't be blinded by those banners and ignore the ones that are not hanging (3-4 by my count) as well as certain behavioral actions, coaching methods and decisions that it reached a point that a change was needed.
I say again - everyone wins here - Kim is happy again and if she completes 5 years with LSU and the State of Louisiana she and her family will be financially secure in perpetuity - something Baylor could never have done for her. I am glad for her for that - I wish her well but make no mistake about it Baylor wins here too.
I am glad we can agree that BU WBB is in good hands with Nicki and her staff and I love that you are supportive of Nicki (that's how it spelled by the way) and perhaps you will help with NIL since you seemed to be a supporter of it.

This exactly. If Baylor ever faces KM I want to beat her ass and have said so many times on this forum . To point out the idiotic takes many have said about her doesnt mean I don't want to beat her for every recruit and certainly any games we might play against her.

I see other schools with commitments, I wonder when and who it will be?
