Baylor Women's Basketball News & Notes
With just over a week to go before their exhibition against Southwest Baptist on November 3rd at the Ferrell Center, Baylor has been busy putting a bow on the offseason. The Bears knocked out media days last week in Kansas City and had an opportunity to enjoy a homecoming victory for the football team, while also cheering on one of their own.
Senior guard Jaden Owens had an opportunity to represent the team, as she was selected as a Princess to the Homecoming Court by the B Association.
Baylor was able to make a splash on the recruiting front as they received a commitment from 2025 four-star guard Marcayla Johnson from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 6-foot-0 PG has won two national championships on the AAU circuit, but has the skill set to play multiple positions on the court.
The Bears (18) are one of four Big 12 programs that made the preseason AP Top 25 poll. Joining Baylor in the rankings include Texas (3), Iowa State (8) and Oklahoma (15).
Despite being winners of the past 12 consecutive Big 12 championships, some experts across the country believe that the streak will come to an end this season.
Charlie Creme: It will end this season. In fact, I think Baylor will finish fourth in the Big 12. Texas and Iowa State look like better teams and Oklahoma could be as well.
Alexa Philippou: This is the year the Baylor streak is probably broken, but given the talent Collen is bringing into Waco, the Bears won't finish as low as Charlie predicted.
