You are correct about the grad transfer with Massengill. However the waiver being used is signed commonly and as pointed out above, already twice by CNC. This is pure pettiness by the KY coach.

Jazmine Massengill is playing in games for Florida State
And Treasure Hunt is having a pretty good season for Arizona State so both are playing and yes, Massengill was a UTenn to KY to FSU transfer and would have needed and received the same 4x4x4 transfer waiver that Dre needs. This is pure punishment.
Massengill was a grad transfer I believe, which makes a difference.

Still, I think the Kentucky coach should sign the waiver. I see they are 0-3 in the SEC so far, so she may have bigger problems.
Correct. Signing this form isn't going to make Kentucky worse. We aren't even in their conference. The only thing this will do is make Dree have less eligibility. Seems vindictive.

Coach Nicki signed the waiver for both Chrislyn Carr and Kamaria McDaniel. If a player wants to transfer it does the coach no good to be vindictive. The player is gone no matter what. Anything to purposely keep them from playing somewhere else is just a bad look. Almost every college coach of any sport is going to use the transfer portal to add someone to their program. Elzy can draw a line in the sand, but she is only hurting herself long term.

Congrats to Dre on her academic performance and how she has responded to all of this. She was nothing but smiles and positivity in her press conference and represented herself well. I think most people see a big difference in the attitudes about this between Dre and her former coach.

In response to Elzy's statement about empowering women: Fee Fi Fo Fit...I get a whiff of a hypocrite.

If you're of a mind to plead Dre's cause, above is the email for Coach Elzy.

Evidently, another player who transferred from there at the same time as Dre' - also with transfer #2 - had her waiver signed and is playing, perhaps suggesting that Elzy's behavior toward Dre' Edwards could be seen as a warning to other players who might consider leaving her program, as well as giving insight on why FOUR players chose to leave after last season. Perhaps a flood of letters and e-mails will cause Elzy to rethink her actions……or perhaps they'll just be tossed and deleted.

No matter. After Elzy's vindictive pettiness, followed by Dre's class-act interview, a hero emerges.
Dre'Una Edwards, take a bow.

That Coach's boss is the AD and then the President of the University. Seems to me our President should be on the bat phone to the UK higher-ups raising pure hell about this. Think KM would be keeping this to herself?

I'm not sure raising hell and Livingstone have been in the same sentence before.

Haha.....I agree, but as they say....desperate times call for desperate measures.

I would still have liked to have watched how KM would have responded to this situation...perhaps another punch em in the mouth? Ha.

How was this not caught by the staff? They should know transfer portal rules. Why did we recruit her if she wasn't a Kentucky graduate? Surely we didn't expect her to sit out a year. Seems like a major mistake to me.

At least she is planning on playing next year….

Watch the Kansas presser that sic'em365 just posted. They knew This before hand. CNC explains everything.

Now it all seems so simple once it's explained, so why was this not so easily explained before?

It was known by CNC & Staff and BU Compliance and by Edwards - DRE made it clear to CNC she wanted out of Kentucky (not going to discuss why here) - she made it equally clear she WANTED TO COME TO BAYLOR !!! No matter what she had to do.
CNC and Dre discussed the very difficult path in front of her if she left Kentucky and still Dre said she wanted to take on the challenge because she wanted to come and play at Baylor.
Dre accomplished the impossible with impressive results - While I cannot find any exact scenarios that match Dre's at Kentucky there are examples of a wink and a nod between Kentucky and two other D1 schools where a waiver was signed for similar transfer requests. Lets be straight here - Kentucky is right within the letter of the law so to speak not to sign Dre's transfer request !!!! is it fair - I think most everyone will be a hard NO on that point.
It was a gamble CNC & Dre felt worth taking.
Considering I can't find an example anywhere where any waiver requested was not signed for a departing athlete. This seems to me to be personal on the part of Coach Kyre Elzy. She lost 3 other players who used the first-time exemption to leave. It looks like she is taking revenge on Dre because she can't do anything about the other 3.
Remember this is the same person who ran her mouth on social media about the BYU/Duke "ALLEGED" racial slur and never retracted it after the facts were revealed but has totally ignored the "PROVEN" racial slur at Kentucky ! Her "I empower women" statements make her a hypocrite at best and a fraud at worst.
Listening to her interview I thought to myself what a controlling personality and basically an uncaring person. No wonder 4 jumped ship at the first opportunity. I was amazed players have signed with her - must have been her assistants that got them to sign.
It's a shame Dre has not been rewarded for her efforts this year, but folks better watch out next year because there is gonna be one hyper motivated personality on the BU WBB Team.
Actually, she has gotten rewarded with something possibly more meaningful to her - the respect of her teammates, coaches, teachers and tutors who have been there for her, helping her, encouraging her and she is first to admit Baylor has made her a better person as well as basketball player.
I ENCOURAGE ALL BAYLOR FANS TO SEEK HER OUT AFTER GAMES AND PERSONALLY LET HER KNOW HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF WHAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED AND FOR HER COURAGE IN BEING WILLING TO TAKE ON WHAT IT TOOK FOR HER TO BE ABLE TO PLAY NEXT YEAR. It will mean a lot to both her and you to have that conversation.

In addition, let's schedule UK for a home game next year- fill it up- and let Dre explode. She would appreciate that, and it would make me feel really good. I enjoyed seeing UK get exploded on today at home. I now have a team other than Texas and AnM to despise.

That gutless coach would never come to Waco to face a packed FC eager to voice their opinion of how she empowers women

We should give her the opportunity to decline, and she would.
