Gameday Thread: No. 21 Baylor at Cincinnati
WACO, Texas – The No. 21 Baylor women’s basketball team travels to Cincinnati for its final conference road game of the season on Tuesday.
Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CT at Fifth Third Arena and the game is available for streaming via the Big 12 Now on ESPN+. A live radio broadcast will be available on ESPN Central Texas (1660 AM/92.3 FM) and live in-game updates will be provided via Twitter and live stats.
STARTING FIVE
Baylor is going for its fourth-straight win at Cincinnati on Tuesday. The Bears’ current three-game win streak is the longest for BU since starting the year a perfect 14-0.
With two games remaining in the regular season, Baylor is currently tied for fifth in the league standings with Iowa State and is one game behind fourth-place West Virginia. The top four seeds in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship earn a double bye.
With the 66-65 win at then-No. 22 West Virginia on Saturday, the Bears picked up their league-leading sixth top-25 win of the season. Baylor is one of just five programs in the country with six wins over ranked foes.
For the second-straight game, the Bears held their opponent to 17.6% from behind the 3-point arc on Saturday. Baylor ranks 11th nationally, and second in the league, in three-point percentage defense (26.1%).
In her first 46 games as a Bear, Jana Van Gytenbeek turned in just three double-figure scoring performances, and in her last six games, she has finished in double figures four times, including in the pair of wins last week.
SCOUTING THE SERIES WITH CINCINNATI
The all-time series between Baylor and Cincinnati is locked at one game apiece with both wins for each program happening at neural sites. The Bearcats earned a win over the Bears during the 1980-81 season in Amarillo, Texas, while Baylor leveled the series with an impressive 72-34 win in the Bahamas during the 2015-16 campaign. The meeting between the two programs on Tuesday marks the only one during the Big 12 regular season in 2023-24.
