I'm in SLC so I decided to catch the men's/women's doubleheader at Utah. Women beat Weber St by 40; men about to tip.
Utah is picked 6th in the league behind IowaSt, KSt, us, WV and arizona(?), which looked fairly accurate. They are good, but not the world beaters they were the last couple of years. They have a tall black girl from France in the middle (and who can hit a 3) that is a beast, but also seemed foul prone. I think I recognized their little point guard from last year who was quick, but the rest of the team were interchangeable Midwest blondes. Reminded me a lot of a typical IowaSt roster through the years.
WeberSt was not good so it was a little hard to judge Utah entirely. Quick hands on defense but it helped that Weber's passes were sloppy. Close to 50% of their shots were from 3. Utah would get hot and hit 5-6 in a row, then miss an equal number or more. Need to guard the perimeter.
We only play them once in Waco in January.
I'll post a similar report on the men's board after their game.
