If West Virginia can take down TCU today, and we can take care of business tomorrow against KSU, we will be at least conference co-champs, no matter what happens vs TCU. Best case scenario, we win out and 'Neers win today and we win conference by a 2 game margin. That would have to get us noticed, I think.

20-9 Frogettes at end of Q1. WV playing really timid and can't hit the ocean. 12-0 run by frogettes. 1 foul so far on Prince.

Yeah, not sure where that WVU team that played us is. No defense, slinging the ball all over the place, listless.

Need press Virginia, not poor Virginia….

Meanwhile, NCSt and ND go back and forth, combining for 21 points in the last 2 minutes. NCSt had a 3 point lead with 17 seconds left and 2 fouls to give. ND dribbles around for 12 seconds, NCSt forgets to foul, ND hits a layup with 5 seconds left. Immediately foul, NCSt hits 2 FTs, ND inbounds with 4.5 seconds left, dribbles around, NCSt still forgets to foul, and ND hits a buzzer beater to send it to OT.

Then a fan has a medical emergency in the stands and they delay the game 10 minutes while the paramedics come in with a stretcher.

I guess we'll pass them in the rankings now ...WV looked tired, guess they left everything in Waco.

Yes, not using those fouls may cost them the game and it didn't need to be that way.

If you want something done right you gotta do it yourself.

Thankfully, we're in a position to control our own destiny.

Someone asked in another thread what Nicki Collen could do to endear herself to the fan base.

Well…winning these final 2 games to clinch the Conference Title outright (and in doing so, taking out your rival during their best season ever) would be a good start.

I'm interested....what position does she play and what does her stat line look like?

She can only put the players she has right now (and she is missing the best she's got) in position to win and looking at the ISU game she is doing an outstanding job doing so, especially managing playing time to save legs for future games.

The problem as I see it, no matter what she does or the team does is not going to win some people over because either her name isn't Kim Mulkey or she was hired by Mack Rhoades. We always get a "but", when enough has already been done to support this team if you are ever going to want to support it.

Blackie,

You gotta deal in reality.

While you are all-in on Nicki Collen, there are many members of the fan base who are still on the fence.

However, the one thing that will ALWAYS unite a fan base is winning!

You want the entire fan base to move on from the previous coach?

Well, I'm pretty sure that winning championships and making Final 4's will probably do the trick.

And you know, as well as most, that a coach will receive the glory and praise when the team wins, along with the bulk of the blame when they lose.

If Nicki can get her team ready for this final stretch and they end up cutting down the nets next Sunday Night (as outright champs), then I think you'll see some folks start coming around.

It took KM 10 years to win 2 conference titles....Nicki could do it in less than 5..... I know its not comparable and NCAA titles are the ultimate goal but you have to give her some props.... (as much as I hate to)

First, considering all the circumstances, I do not believe we will win both games. I will be ecstatic if we do, but I am not expecting it.

I think for some (hopefully a large number) you are correct in that winning brings in your bandwagon people. I think for others there is nothing that will matter. When KM walked out the door, so did they because that is where their loyalty lay. And if some don't understand, recognize, or refuse to admit the situation we were in when CNC walked in the door because they don't look at what happened to other programs losing their elite coach, it is impossible to see the remarkable job that has been done thus far.

You don't have to move on from the previous coach in the sense that you forget and don't appreciate what she accomplished here, but you have to move on to support your future or you very well may not have a future...if you really care all that much about the future. And just like people, teams need support the most when they are down or hurting. We took a haymaker four years ago. It is remarkable that we are where we are today.

Yes. It is truly amazing what Nicki has done here. I am sure Tennessee and Stanford would have loved to have her after their elite coaches retired. It is always mentioned on Baylor national telecasts what a good Nicki has done at Baylor ! If some of our "fans" can't see that it is their loss.

I'm not a Mulkey Apologist, far from it actually.

But the reality is that Nicki is being compared to Kim, whether we think it's fair or not.

And with the success Mulkey had here, a lot of folks were frustrated when she left, and believed that the program would tank afterwards.

Well, here we are, 1 game away from an outright conference title, and Nicki can start to change the narrative.

If she accomplishes that, even her biggest detractors will have to give her some props.

But why was there ever a narrative?

Its amazing how GOOD WV was at home and how PATHETIC they were on the road. All 5 losses on the road. WV coach might want to get some counsel on how to approach a road game.

Imo, West Virginia made a mistake not bringing Mike Carey back. Of all the coaches we faced during those championship years (2011- 2021), he was the only one to win both the conference regular season title (shared it with us in 2014) and conference title game (beat us in 2017).

When the job opened up at Tennessee after Holly Warlick left, they should have probably given him a hard look.

I believe he joined Sytia Messer's staff at UCF, but I don't recall seeing him when we played them earlier this year.

We will have three starters watching from the stands next Sunday: Jana Van Gytenbeek, Dariana Littlepage Buggs. and likely Bella Fontleroy. The latter two are arguably our two best all around players right now, though several others are showing a lot of grit and determination.

TCU would have been a tough win even if we had a healthy roster because of their size in the paint, but my money would be on our team. We will get Buggs back for the NCAA Tournament as things now stand, but Fontleroy may be done for the season, and her loss will be keenly felt. I hope to be unduly pessimistic in that expectation as my appreciation of her has grown as the season has gone along.

I was really proud of our team, today. Winning a game like that, even without Aoka Lee staring down at us, was quite an achievement, particularly after Bella went out and they cut our lead to four points. There was an abundance of heroic efforts, but Vonleh had my vote for player of the game. Everyone contributed today. It is not bias on my part to say that our team deserves to win next Sunday, no matter the outcome. I hope that there is a record crowd in the Foster Pavilion next Sunday cheering Baylor on.
