It is really time for people that "WANT" to support the program to do so. It was overly obvious from last night's game that the "reservations" people have about the coaching staff and accomplishments that must occur before people "endear" themselves as some poster said in another thread, are smokescreens for saying they DO NOT want to support the program. The team and coaches have shown more than enough to warrant support without putting a bunch of "buts" thrown out as criticisms or doubts to delay support, especially when some of those "buts" were overlooked when they occurred under the previous coach.

Anyone that still says they need to win multiple championships, blah, blah, blah either don't understand where we stood 4 years ago and don't understand the current landscape as to how the sport has changed just in the last 2-3 years. Last night was a masterful job by all involved, coaches and players. And don't start about the "well Lee was not playing" bit. We still played against 5 D1 athletes including possibly the player of the year in the conference. We started without what should unquestionably be an all-conference player and then lose who should at least be on the mentioned list for half the game, and end up expanding the lead after she was injured.

If you aren't ready to support the team now...well, I'm sure they wouldn't say it, but you don't want to support the team at all. In fact there are a very few who should go back and look at some of their posts in the first or second year CNC was here and issue an apology to them for the completely unprofessional and grade school level comments thrown at her and in the team's direction when they needed support after getting thrown under the bus. But I doubt any of them will read this as they have mysteriously disappeared from the board.

TCU's response to that situation has basically been "Let them eat cake".

I made a rare. very rare peek at Killerfrogs. Some claim there was no sexual assault involved. Then when some of their own pointed out that was the accusation from victims, the response was then changed to basically no big deal.....because it was a woman not a man.

Blackie,

No matter how much you scold people for not blindly supporting the coach, the fact remains that the only sure-fire way to get everyone onboard is by winning (and I'm not one of those 'Mulkey or Else' fans).

The reality is that fandom can't be automatically forced onto the masses. For some, the positive results are what draws them in.

Winning brings in the casual fan, and sometimes, casual fans turn into diehard fans.

And that's not a bad thing.

By your logic, everyone should have packed the Ferrell Center during the Pam Bowers era, despite those horrible results.

This shows that TCU fans, along with many others around the country (looking at you, Texas Tech re: Pop Isaacs) do not care and have never cared about sexual assault. They find it useful to weaponize against other teams or even make jokes about it (West Virginia chanting "no means no" with giant grins on their faces). But any claim to care for victims is 100% performative.

That last statement is completely uncalled for.

If our winning in the past turned some casual fans into diehard fans, they would still be here. Perhaps we only ever had about 4,000 or so diehard fans. These are the ones I am talking about. The ones that would go all over the country to follow the team. Did people think KM would be here forever? Obviously not, but a diehard fan would have taken a step back to see how this program got thrown under the bus when she left us behind. A diehard fan would have stayed and supported the program when it needed support as it never had before. Too many did not.

People are not "on board" and diehard if winning is the only thing keeping them there. Their action just does not support the adjective. I am sure there are diehard fans that would have loved to be able to support the program, but they are either no longer here or can no longer come to the games.

Supporting this coach by now is not blindly supporting her. That is the whole point after watching the progress over the last four years and especially, this year.

So, I hope that your casual fans show up on Sunday to help achieve the criteria they are demanding before they will support the program. They at least should put enough skin in the game to do that. This team is fun to watch.

But I'll stop. My point is obviously not being seen and I won't pursue it any longer.

Bowers' winning percentage at Baylor was 37.8%.
Collen's is 74.6%, (which is, incidentally, a percentage point higher than Kim Mulkey's first four seasons at Baylor.)

If playing for a conference title at home does not get people in the seats supporting the team, we do not deserve it as a fan base. We have become so spoiled by success in the 2010s - football, basketball, etc...

It is one thing to expect to win, but it is another to actually deserve the win. The team (especially this WBB team) is doing well right now and peaking at the right time. Even with the coaching issues this year, Collen has kept the ship afloat shorthanded and actually turned this team into a conference title contender.

The fans need to do their part and show up and give appreciation to this team. Players who came to play at Baylor after a HOF coach left and wanted to continue success for the program into the future.

I will be there on Sunday to support the team and the coaches and to thank the seniors. I hope 7,499 other people join me. It is time to bring the conference trophy back home where it belongs.

Sic Em!

It's interesting that when they interview the players on why they chose Baylor, you get the standard "the coaches," "it felt like home," etc., but also mentioned consistently was the fan support. I wondered this year, as the team ran out to small crowds, what they thought about the fan support now.

My hope is, when they run out on the court Sunday, they will see and hear what they expected to see and hear when they chose Baylor.

I would be thrilled if we could develop the kind of student support that Va Tech was able to garner.
