Shoulder, ribs, leg? Able to play Sunday?

It appeared to be the shoulder. My guess is that even she won't know until an X-Ray/Scan in the morning.

Let's hope for the best. What is ridiculous is the fact she was whistled for a foul for a collision in which she clearly did not deliver the blow. To be fair, they were both going for the ball and both arrived at the same time. That is either a no-call or a double foul.

Correct I would have no called it.

Bella was headed straight for the ball, the Krazy Kat came from the side and crashed into her. Ref was very very wrong

Do we have a recording of the post game with CNC? I see a 3 min clip on You Tube. Just didn't really get much out of 3 minutes.

Ice on the shoulder area. Hard blow from the side into the shoulder. Maybe she separated it? She was instant pain.

I am hoping and praying hard that she is fine. Hope it was just a deep bruise or jam that can heal quickly. Love her game, and she seems to be a great person.

If there is any "good" news…it looked like the left shoulder (non shooting)

Remember the Jessica Stratton foul against Tennessee? I cant remember if it was elite 8 or sweet 16. But she was about 8 feet from the basket when she went straight up to get a rebound that was destined to land in her hands and a UT player tried for it too and knocked the snot out of her. They called the foul on Jessica, UT got two free throws and it won the game for them. WBB refs are the worst in the business and apparently nothing can be done about it.

Doubt we'll hear anything on Bella or Buggs availability. As a fan, I want to know. As a fan, I want TCU to be without that info as they prepare for our game. Patience all….

I agree. Just concerned for her more than anything.

Sweet 16. I was at that game with the Courtside Players. The worst part about it was that there were 0.2 seconds on the clock, and the game was tied. So blowing the whistle and awarding free throws there literally decided the outcome of the game.

Yes, I was there also.

Those early years were the most fun for my wife and I, including the later years with the national championships. They were fun because we were coming off the mat we were on before KM arrived and doing things we hadn't done before. The same reason I so enjoy watching this team now trying to get out of the ditch into which we were thrown.

Was that the play where CKM ran down the side line and slid on her backside for five feet? I've tried to find a recording of that scene.

If I am remembering correctly hat was against Oklahoma State when Danielle Crockrom dribbled the length of the court and hit a buzzer beater from the free throw line to avoid a fairly large upset.

I remember the situation but I was thinking it was at a time in the program where we were just starting to break through and the OSU win was significant. But I may be thinking about another game. Too many too remember!

I think the last second shot that beat OSU was assisted by a 3quarter court pass from Stasha Richards.Kim's victory dance immediately followed.

We were a powerhouse yet. Still competing with Oklahoma State. And yes, it was after a three quarter court pass that set it up. It wasn't a dribbled the length of the court situation. It was just before the now "advance the ball" style of play. It was a big win because I remember the news she had just said that every game is important and a win or a loss against any team counts the same. The newscaster quoted her and then said - "so remember, today's game is just another game..."

I think it was the game we lost to Tennessee 71 to 69 on March 28, 2004 but so far I haven't been able to find the video. If anyone turns it up, please share.

The sliding at half court wasn't the Tennessee game. She was throwing a fit, but the sliding at half court was in celebration. There was more shock than anything from everyone in the arena that they made such a call. I used to officiate basketball - not at the D1 level, and they used to use that game as a prime example of how not to end a basketball game. How to not take the ball out of the players hands. Not sure if they still do, but it wouldn't surprise me. That was a long bus ride back. Though the following year we won it all. So it definitely put a chip on the shoulders of our underclassmen, mainly Blackman, Niemann, and Young.

Have no idea if this will work - but in the event that it does, here is a short clip of the Tennessee play in question:

Thus the no call in San Antonio when UCONN fouled twice on the last shot, right?
Bone Squad
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't see those two situations as equivalent.

In the Tennessee game, two players were going after the ball and collided. I do not see either one of them being more at fault than the other. Even if it were not the end of the game, that looks like a no-call situation to me. But especially in context, with 0.2 on the clock and the game tied, there was zero chance of either team scoring the ball. It should have played out in overtime. Instead, the refs chose to anoint a winner of the game in that situation by awarding free throws with less time than it takes to even attempt a final shot.

In the UConn game, Carrington was shooting a crucial shot to tie the game. Unlike in Tennessee, either option available to the refs (calling the foul / not calling the foul) changes the outcome of the game. So they were not inserting themselves needlessly into a situation. Carrington was absolutely clobbered by two players, with the full intention of preventing the basket at all costs. That should not be allowed at the end of the game, anymore than it would have been allowed for Carrington to pick up the ball and walk 8 steps to the basket for a layup.

There is no way we will hear a word about Buggs or Bella's injury status. Nicki wants to keep TCU guessing.

As I would hope she would. Smart strategy.

Bone squad, I agree 100%. You explained it well. TOTALLY different situations. The "just let them play" "don't get the refs involved in the last seconds" crowd encourages literal assault like on Carrington. The last minute of the game becomes a free for all. Totally different situations in loose ball or shooting fouls especially!!!!!!

From an officiating perspective, as a few have mentioned below, they are not the same situation. One is a loose ball play where a replay was gone to and they opted to pick the second the foul was committed, not the foul was called. And they also chose the moment of first contact between the players, then assessing it on a single player, which, based on the rule book, is not legal. It was an easy situation where they could have said it came after time had expired, play on and decide on the court.

At the end of the UCONN game, that was a set play with the strategy imposed to either get a clean look or draw the foul. They drew the foul, you make that call as it was deliberate and an obvious foul to anyone with eyes watching the game. Had, in the Tennessee situation, a foul been called on the initial layup attempt, I dont' think there would be as much an issue. But on the second rebound with no one actually working to make a shot, that is something you simply don't do/call. Some will say it's the equvilant to swallowing your whistle. It is not. It is an official not understanding game management and putting themselves in the crosshairs of every spectator. The goal of an official is to manage the game and allow it to flow with minimal interference on your part. You set the tone and the standard with the expectation that the players and coaching staff will adapt. I'd be curious to know if anyone on the court that night has officiated in a Final Four since.

As for the injury - I'm glad she came out with ice and wasn't just in a sling. But that also might just be wishful thinking at this juncture.

I don't want to read too much into it, but Bella posted a very short Instagram Story today of her walking in the sunshine. I know shoulder injuries can vary with regards to range of motion, but she looked happy.

If you're talking about the UCONN game, yeah Brian Hall and Lisa Jones still officiate regularly in major conferences.

What was so annoying about the TENN call was the baseline ref called it - - no way a clear view of the collision was possible..

No, referring to the TENN game. I know at the time I went through my instructional classwork they had not officiated a tournament game since. Not sure if enough time has passed that they do now.

I don't see them equivalent either. Perhaps the officials were confused.
