Any rumors floating around WBB about our being a host team for Round One? The last I heard on ESPN, we were sitting around team 15 or 16, but then yesterday happened giving us another loss.

ESPN's Charlie Creme seems to believe we're going to be hosting.

However I'm not as convinced that the committee will see things the same way after yesterday's loss. So I will believe it when I see it.

I think Tennessee might be our biggest threat to hosting, with Bama and Maryland possibly being in the conversation.

We definitely didn't do ourselves any favors by losing all 3 times to TCU, that's for sure.

You say our losses to TCU didn't help but then express that you believe Tennessee is our biggest threat. I don't't quite understand. Tennessee is getting by all their losses with "but their good losses…." How are our losses to TCU different? I just want to understand what you're seeing that I'm not.

Tennessee beat UCONN.

That win will likely carry a lot of weight with the committee.

We'll find out just how much on Selection Sunday.

Tenn doubled up BU in Q1 wins 6 to 3. Played a significantly more difficult schedule. No idea who will host (perhaps BU gets a 4) but it wouldn't be all that surprising if Tenn did host

Tennessee finished 9th and .500 in the SEC. Didn't even make the tournament quarterfinals.

Before last weekend Creme was pumping the ESPN line with 7-8 SECSECSEC teams in the top 16 and hosting. After pratfalls by Tennessee, Maryland and Alabama in their tournaments, he finally spread it around with 6 SEC, 4 ACC, 3 B1G, 2 Big12 and UConn.

Tennessee also had terrible loss to Georgia. In Baylor's recent games, they have only lost to TCU # 6 in nation, and both games came down to wire. I think Baylor's current trajectory is better than Tennessee. Will be interesting to see what committee does….

True.

BU lacks a marquee win, but all our losses are to teams that are solidly in the NCAAs, and only the loss to OkSt was a blowout.

Tennessee lost at home to UGA who went 4-12 in the SEC.
UNC lost at home to UVA who went 8-10 in the ACC.
Ole Miss lost to last place Aggy who went 3-15.
OkieSt lost to last place UH who went 1-17.
OhioSt lost to last place PennSt who went 1-17.
Alabama lost to Florida who went 5-11.
Maryland didn't have any losses to bad teams, but were blown out badly by UT and Michigan.

WV, KSt and OkSt are all ranked in the top 20 in the final AP poll (which theoretically would put them in line for a 4 or 5 seed), but BU has a stronger resume than each of them. So if the Big12 gets 2 hosts, we should be the 2nd one.

We're in as hosts, with our #14 ranking. Below comments from ESPN article :

Baylor made the biggest move of any team during Champ Week so far, moving into the top 16 by reaching the Big 12 championship game, where it ultimately lost to TCU. Tennessee, Alabama and Kansas State all cost themselves the opportunity to host first- and second-round NCAA tournament games by losing before their conference semifinals. They were all in the top 16 before the conference tournaments began. Now they are all No. 5 seeds

Just because ESPN is slotting us in as a host does not guarantee that will definitely be the case.

While I think we would all be thrilled if this proved to be true, do not underestimate what goes on in some of these back rooms.

We've seen questionable calls be made with other sports when a committee is involved (see college football and the CFP).

So until our name actually gets called and has a 4 sitting next to it, I wouldn't necessarily start booking hotel rooms and planning a trip to George's just yet.

Our ranking in the AP poll is 14, and the top 16 host. So that gives us some wiggle room. The wins over KSU and OSU really helped . Agreed Bracketology / Charlie Creme isn't the source of truth, but all the projections have us in a solid position. It's good to see .

Probably the closest thing to a sure bet is that if both teams make it past the first round, the second round is going to be a game between Baylor and Tennessee. The only question is where. Tennessee does have the bad loss and lost in the second round of the SEC tournament. If you only go by NET which factors in the QUAD records, you would only need to look at NET to seed teams. So, there is more to it than just QUAD wins.

The fact that Baylor lost to TCU three times is not so negative in my mind as far as seeding in the tournament goes. All three losses had us shooting to tie in our last or next to last possession. And while the committee may not have looked at all those games, I feel fairly sure they were watching yesterday's game. If TCU is a 2 or at worst a high 3, we couldn't be looked at as being far behind if we were shooting to tie the game at the end multiple times.

Fact is, we don't know what they look at. We used to be supposedly knocked down in seeding because we didn't play anyone outside conference or the Big XII was weak or Kim ticked someone off because of something she said. Perhaps they like Nicki. They look at trajectory? They look at injuries or who is coming back from injury in our case? Who knows exactly what they base these things on. Whether Baylor or Tennessee gets a 4 may generate as much controversy on selection night as anything else.

I really hope we get selected to host, because there is no way a 10-loss Ole Miss team, with a loss against last place Texas A&M of all teams, should host before us.

They really shouldn't get to host before Tennessee either, since they lost the head-to-head matchup against the Lady Vols as well.

If it were up to me, Baylor and Tennessee would round out the host schools, and I'd send Ole Miss packing.

Hopefully the committee will see things the same way.

However, we did do the next best thing in those losses. We were shooting to tie at the end in all three. And in the last one it was in a game that did not have any WBB competition for viewership. No way to know if the committee is impressed by it, but it apparently impressed AP voters as we moved from 17 up to 14 this week. OSU even moved up and KSU only dropped 1. TCU moved up to 6. WV stayed at 19.

Hopefully this somewhat shows a little more respect in the WBB world that the Big XII isn't an afterthought. We now have 5 teams in the top 19. Hopefully, that would equate to having more than 1 in the 1 - 4 seeds (which represents 16 teams).

Playing a top 10 team so close three times and losing doesn't get you championships, but it just may be enough to have the committee believe that we deserve that 4 seed over teams below us because of how we played in those games.
