emphasis on:

1) scouting opponents
2) recruiting
3) player development
4) generalist with broad experience

which is most likely?
Know coaches do everything but generally hires have a specific area of emphasis re their role.

I don't know the strengths of our newest coach on scouting so I would say recruiting and player development.. I know Tony is good on game planning and I assume Johnnie is as well. However, with Tony and Jaelyn taking the guards and Coach Johnnie the bigs I would guess that would give Nikki more time for scouting andgame planning which is right up her alley. I would guess Asternecker would help with that as well. We certainly need to step up our recruiting and specifically Texas recruiting in the next several classes. Hopefully our next coach will have some close Texas ties. What are your thoughts?

CNC… "Jaelyn will be deeply involved in recruiting, on-court coaching and guard development."
I would think an emphasis on recruiting…with a commitment to "doing things the right way". The university doesn't want another in season staff change situation.
I think the next coach hire will have a emphasis on player development

Have varying thoughts.

1) recruiting is the lifeblood of college sports. And it is doubly important now to have a huge presence at Summer events. First to land HS talent but possibly equally important to build relationships with other players and coaches that yield a harvest 2-3 years later when players enter the Portal.

2) opponent scouting is usually far more effective when one person is scouting O and another scouting D. Without the support staff levels that are typical in MBB, WBB scouting is all on the staff.

3) based upon last 2-3 seasons, we clearly need a shooting development specialist.

Will not be surprised if we hire someone out of the Summer ball circuit that has a strong player development history. Recruiting ties meets shooting coach. Hard to hit all three birds with one stone. Two of three is a win.
