Interesting theory. Was Gregg Popovich less of a coach because he never played pro ball?

Who knew that someone choosing the best path for themselves negated their ability to offer insight on every other topic. What a sad world you live in.

Are you really that stupid? Really?

The point which clearly escapes you is that no one needs a pro (or college) sports career to have solid opinions in the area.

what does posting the record of an opponent have to do with anything? Other than showing Baylor beat a team that beat multiple big 12 foes of ours?

Short term……during the season? None. Bad choices have consequences.
Longer term……focusing attention on the mistakes? Many alternatives including being loud and brash.

We might not have routine 3rd Weekend amount of NIL but we certainly have routine 2nd Weekend amount of NIL if the $ is spent wisely.

We spend unwisely. We exist in a zone where we can buy 3 upper tier (not top tier) players and still have sufficient $ to fill the rest of the rotation with serviceable talent. This season we have two "serviceable talent" players being overpaid. We didn't try to acquire a starting level PG. We are paying NIL money to players not in the rotation. Maybe the new AD can find some more money. But even if that occurs it is unlikely to be enough to eliminate the need to stop making bad spending choices.

what you call continual bashing others see as accountability. Clearly you don't like it being loud and brash.
Others hate the typical Baylor fan acquiescence to bad choices being made.

Are you saying its time to fire the coach? You were NCs biggest cheerleader in the aftermath of KM's departure.

I don't mind loud and brash. It just seems you are being disproportional in criticism to one particular player when there are failures all around.

And that is really indicative of where the program is at the moment.

I really hope CNC finds a way to get this thing on the right track.

I don't mind loud and brash. It just seems you are being disproportional in criticism to one particular player when there are failures all around.

CNC started with success. Kept the depleted roster together, cobbled together a great recruiting class under the circumstances, got buy-in, performed.

Year Two and Three were expected downturns due to inherited roster mess.

But since that point she has underachieved. Most importantly, she seems lost in the new NIL environment.
The necessary strategic changes are not occurring and I have yet to see a commitment to changing how things are being done. Not about one player or one recruiting class……it is about a lack of program level strategy for success.

Disproportionate criticism…..maybe. Disproportionate to other critiques? Yes. Disproportionate to level of problems in program? No. We only have one starter that is unquestionably not P4 starter level. And that player plays the position equivalent to QB in football. PG is the one position above all others requiring ability and performance. Think Didi Richards going down with injury when Baylor had a big lead over UConn, Andrews not having been developed, and the lead disappearing leading rapidly to a loss. PG simply matters more than any other position. How can a coach that is a former PG miss sooooooooo badly on the evaluation? And I am not counting the injury recovery. Before the injury the player wasn't starter quality. After? Still not.

How many times this year have you seen a PG beat the double, beat the ice, beat the hard hedge?
The answer is basically zero. Simply avoiding the turnover is a huge achievement.
Getting the ball up court against pressure is adventure every time.
Initiating half court O before 17 seconds remains on the shot clock is a major achievement.
Winning the dribble? Next time will be the first time.

One .500 shooting game and that was against a zone which refused to guard her.
Otherwise, brick city.

Think those insights are wrong? Show me.
Not picking on a freshman that is still learning. She is a sixth year senior. Sixth year senior.
Ball security should be automatic at this point.

Ultimately it isn't her. It is the coach who put her into a position where failure was highly likely.
Of the growing list of avoidable CNC missteps, the failure to recruit a starting level PG is at the top.

You really are the most mentally challenged poster.

Year three isn't simply wins and losses for that season.
It is recruiting and taking transfers to set up years 4, 5 and 6.
it is staff building as staff size increased.
it is NIL strategy as the rules changed.

Not understanding enterprise scale long term strategy is why you will spend your life in a cubicle.

I'm still waiting for him to tell me how much NIL we have (and source of reliable information) or have I missed in the thread.

I don't see how you make critical statements about what we should have or could have done with our NIL unless you know what it is compared to other teams and what the going rate for some of the players we did not get ended up being. Or is it just another of the multitudes of strawmen that populate all these boards that are used to push a point?

Jana is not the problem with the team. She is doing quite well with positioning, passing, and defense. Her turnover to assists seems to be improving, as does her shooting, although is not as skilled as Tallia. She can shoot the 3 but her shot selection inside seldom draws fouls or is not successful. I did noticed near the end of the Tech game being able to penetrate with skill using behind the back dribbles so the knee brace is becoming less problematic.

Post position is weak when Kalya is in as her positioning is good she is not able to hold onto the ball, nor shoot well after rebounding. Bella, as strong as she is on defense, is only able to take a wide open 3 shot and is prone to fouls. She has 3+ years experience and has developed much over that time.

LPB works hard to rebound and get open shots, but is not strong enough to compete under the boards , and is trying to shoot from outside with mixed success.

Turnovers as we know have been a big problem for the whole team. I wonder how this is being addressed by the coaches ….especially CNC besides wincing at them on the sideline. Before I go on, this will not improve especially with teams tat will press from beginning to end. I watched ASU and Colorado play after Baylor/TT. Both teams pressed from the opening tip-off to the end of the game. TCU, WVU, BYU, and Iowa State will be problematic for our girls if they don't improve. Time for the coaches to let the team know where they need to improve. Maybe CNC needs to let players know where they must improve….or as CKM would do….sit on the bench.

I appreciate the detail in your post, and agree with your comments on Jana. I do think it helps her game both having Scott on the court and also Brow spelling her for 5 minutes in the second half so she can be fresh in the 4th quarter.

On the post position, I assume you are referring to Kyla Abraham, and would generally agree. Kayla Nelms was great yesterday and provides better scoring and shooting efficiency from the post than our other options, and also led the team with 4 offensive rebounds yesterday. Her outside shooting ability probably spreads the floor a bit more as well, allowing for driving opportunities by Scott and even Jana yesterday.

The use (or non-use) of Buggs was interesting yesterday. She was not on the floor in the second quarter when we went on the 7-0 run to close the first half, and then sat most of the second half after picking up her third foul a few minutes into the third quarter. For whatever reason, we were better defensively and offensively when she (and Marcayla Johnson) were both on the bench yesterday. I have not seen the +/-, but I bet those stats reflect that. Props to CNC for being willing to keep Buggs on the bench when others were playing well. Deng for example did not score much, but if I heard CNC right in the post game presser, Deng had a +/- around +29.

And going back to the post play, I liked the offensive/defensive subbing of Nelms & Abraham in the last 4 minutes, and Abraham even hit the 13 foot shot when left unguarded.

Another bright spot was 80% from the FT line. Scott drew 9 fouls on her own, helping to get Oklahoma State in foul trouble.

You mention turnovers....only 13 yesterday (better), and several of those were moving screens and at least one shot clock violation.

Finally, returning to Jana -- we'll see how things play out going forward, but she may have turned a corner on being more comfortable from both and experience and an injury recovery standpoint. Hopefully yesterday was part of a trend for her, and not just a single blip.
