While we're over here playing with our food on Sicem365, Iowa is about to be eliminated by #10 seed Virginia.

First official upset of the tournament. Iowa however, was drastically overseeded. I said from the beginning the B10 was overrated. Thads playing out so far. Besides UCLA I should add.

And TCU gets another gift. Iowa should never have been a 2 seed. They proved it twice. However, TCU gets the pleasure in the next game after of getting SC.

Oh look another S16 for ND. The same ND certain posters on here like to use as an example of a program who fell off a cliff when their legendary coach retired.

Looks to me like the parity that has been talked about below the top 5-6 teams is rearing its head.....or either the committee is completely clueless on how they create seedings.

I also don't see any reason why the very top are gong to really get challenged in the next few years (except among themselves) with the current system (free agency) staying in place that feeds both top HS and portal transfers to them with the rest getting spread out to the next tier. It is as dominant at the top with UConn in its heyday. They have had a few friends added to the party, but this UConn team looks like they may be reluctant to let even them get a turn this year. Everybody else is playing for SS and E8 spots with not much hope of seeing a FF. Most likely change will not occur until Geno, Dawn and Kim retire.

The potential is there for some real blowouts in the E8.

Iowa bear, I shall reluctantly gag down my crow sandwich, but it could not have been closer. 1 point! But a deall is a deal, beak and feet and all. Yuck

Only one Big 12 school advances to the Sweet Sixteen. And that school needed overtime at home to do so.
Big East: UConn
Big Ten: Three schools
ACC: Five schools
SEC: Six schools

True about the Final Four and Elite 8 spots. They are almost a sure thing for the uber elite programs. At least the Sweet 16 has a ten,six and five seed this year.Last year the top 4 seeds advanced in every region.Boring.

You can add Elite 8 to their list of accomplishments now.

And this is AFTER they lost Olivia Miles.

If we want to compare coaching careers after the loss of a Hall of Fame coach, I think we should compare Niele Ivey to Nicki Collen, as Ivey has only been a Head Coach for one more year than CNC. So it's more of an apples to apples comparison.

Now keep in mind that Ivey took over a Notre Dame team that hit rock bottom in Muffet's final year (finished 13-18).

Niele Ivey (6 years)

10-10 during the COVID season (20-21)

5 straight appearances in the Sweet 16 afterwards (and in the Elite 8 as we speak)

2 ACC Regular Season Titles

1 ACC Conference Tournament Title (made at least the tournament semifinals in each of the last 5 years)

Nicki Collen (5 years)

1 Big XII Regular Season Title (1st Year)

0 Big XII Conference Tournament Titles (2 Finals Losses, 3 Quarterfinal Losses)

1 Sweet 16 appearance (4 exits in the 2nd Round)

The above is proof that you can have solid success after a Hall of Fame Coach departs.

Ivey has the Irish contending in March each year.

The same can't be said for CNC.

Just wish people would stop making excuses for CNC.

She's had plenty of time to right the ship, and it simply has not happened.

CNC either needs to step up her coaching game, or step aside and let someone else try, imo.

LSU about to go down. Called that weeks ago. Duke isn't any good but this is Mulkeys weakest LSU squad in her tenure

How is Duke no good? Remarkable turn around season. Both LSU and BU beat them earlier. The improve enought to beat both when it matters. May be coach of the year performance. Won ACC as well

Unless they get it together, and quick, it looks like OU is on their way to getting blown out by South Carolina.

The Sooners are down by 17 at the halfway point of the 2nd quarter.

Today's games have been blowouts so far:

Michigan ran Louisville out of the gym.
Texas beat Kentucky silly.

Maybe TCU and Virginia will be close.

Definitely revenge rematch for SC. OU coach shouldn't have yelled "we're effing back!" into the camera after first game.

Not a fan of the challenge rule the way it's set up.

You've got coaches going to IPads and players tying shoes to stall.

I would make a few changes:

- Challenges must be initiated within 5 seconds of the call being made (no IPad assistance). Coach must go with their gut.

- If a call is challenged to determine who the ball went out on, a ref can call a foul that might have been missed if that is what caused the ball to go off of a player. This would make a coach think twice about using a challenge, as it could possibly backfire on them.

- Coaches can challenge all calls, to include fouls.

TCU started off hot against South Carolina and went up by 8 in the 1st quarter.

But Miles picked up 2 early fouls and Carolina's depth is starting to wear the Horned Frogs down.

TCU now trails by 8 at halftime.

Just looks like one of those games where South Carolina is going to create some separation and slowly start to pull away.

I could be wrong, but I see South Carolina winning this one by double digits.

Just an observation: so many of the Collen haters point to the blowout loss to Texas. We actually played them closer than Regional 2 seed Michigan did in the same arena. Maybe Texas is really good rather than Baylor being "wrecked" as one poster put it.

We should all take great pleasure in knowing that Michigan in the E8 got beat by Texas more than Baylor did in a regular season game! Hang the banner baby . Also a difference of 1 point. Talk about grasping for straws

Here's another observation:

We lost to Tech by 31.

I think S Carolina scored at least 12 in Q4 before TCU scored. This means the Final 4 will be the four #1 seeds.

I just checked and TCU was outscored by 18 in Q4 to make it a loss by 26.
