Prince arrived with a foot problem and over her first two years was never really able to take the floor for extended periods of time. Her junior year saw considerable improvement but she was still not the player she was coming out of high school. I thought that her senior year she got caught in the transition we were in from the small and quick lineup featuring Nina and crew, and while she had some good games at the offensive end of the floor, I thought that she was somewhat slower than I remembered her from the All Star games and the national team that summer, when she was a dominating player at both ends of the floor.
Other than Griner and Odyssey, and occasionally Nina, Mulkey tends to spread the ball around. When Alexis Jones transferred in, also with injuries that affected her quickness, that gave us another go-to player and Prince never was the featured player, though she had games where she put the ball up enough to score very well.
Had she come in without the injury to plague her for two years into three, she would have been one of the all time greats. She was terrific in her senior year in high school and in the summer following. I suspect that she is finally over that issue and able to play at a high level for extended periods of time, otherwise she would not be playing abroad following the WNBA season. I loved her game and wish her the best. I think that she loves Baylor and will always be an ambassador for the program.
