A 1988 Galveston News article mentioned that Sammie's father played high school basketball. Robert Wagner was the team's high scorer in the game with 27 points.

You hear all the time school's offering young players - from my understanding scholarship offers can go out and conversations can happen when they are on campus or at their camps, but I do not believe that an in-home or "official" visit can happen until their junior school year. I could be wrong, but that is how I have always perceived the guidelines to be.

I hope this turns out to be a better success story for Baylor than the other 8th grader from San Antone who committed to Baylor and later decommitted,,,MacKenzie Calvert. I bet Samantha's dad is committed to Baylor, unlike Calvert's dad.
