Much easier to be positive on this thread than per say the football board.
Last year's team had a 37-37 stretch and still won 101 games. Barring multiple major injuries, it's tough to imagine this team going 37-37 during any 74 game stretch. Of course, baseball has a way of humbling everyone.Positive Bear said:
Team is even better than last year in my early season prediction. There might be injuries but they could top last season's win total.
Can you imagine this team if they go get a closer? They've tried before with Baltimore and San Diego. We'll see.JusHappy2BeHere said:
our starting rotation has a 1, 1a, 1b, 1c, and Ground Chuck (the only man to ever win 2 game 7's in the same playoff run)
we have McHugh (3 seasons since he had one fewer quality starts than his Cy Young winning teammate) and Peacock in our Bull Pen.
we are one Tervor Hoffman or Mariano Rivera from maybe being the best staff ever.
The way this team rakes, and runs bases and plays defense....
we are almost slump proof.

Should we be worried about the angels or is it too early? They sure do have some star power.

A big waste against Grand Prairie. These bats need to wake up again. Go 'Stros.WILLIS said:

I usually dont sweat the little things, but Marisnick had every right to be mad AF last night. Twas a ball.
I noticed. Oh well on to Seattle. Go Stros.D. C. Bear said:GoldMind said:

Plate umpire missed several pitches (on both sides).

True, but frustrating to know that just two more hits in key places would have meant two more wins.GoldMind said:
Still very early. I'd take a slump now much better than I would take it in August or September.
The pitching has been incredible. Best ERA, fewest runs/game allowed, and most strikeouts in baseball. The top 3 AL strikeout leaders are Cole/Verlander/McCullers.Bear8084 said:
What happened to our bats? We are wasting these steller pitching performances to junk hitting and swinging at every single pitch. Go 'Stros.
Too many guys left the bat on their shoulders.Bear8084 said:
Offense was stagnant again tonight against the Angels. Cole pitched enough of a gem to win it but did not have the bats behind him. On to tomorrow. Go 'Stros!!!!
