So what is the formula for Baylor to compete on a National level in baseball? I think that is the third year in a row that a really talented freshman is leaving for bigger money elsewhere after a good freshman season at Baylor.. My impression is that Baylor baseball has nowhere near the NIL money that the other schools have. So this trend will continue of freshman having a good year and leaving for more money. Is the answer for Baylor to recruit mainly JUCO so that the team is older and you catch lightening in a bottle every now and then (Like Murray State)?

Duh. Freshman have virtually no value for building a winning team now. And if they are good enough, they Tranfer after their first year. To hell with freshman, recruit some older guys who are proven. Seems pretty simple to me…

Wesley Jordan into the portal. This is also not good.

Well the "older player" you want Baylor to recruit and build their team around just entered the portal (Wesley Jordan). Baylor will not compete on the national level because they do not have real NIL money for baseball.

The number I have heard that Baylor is allocating to baseball as Part of the $20 million revenue sharing is $185,000. If that number is true, that is laughable. They might as well tell Coach Thompson " hey we don't care if you win or lose, just run a clean program and don't get in trouble".

But everybody "close to the program" keeps telling me major funding is coming for both facilities and a proper "recruitment" budget....

Are they all just lying?

Most universities are allocating 75% of the 20.5 million to football...20% to basketball and 2% to women's basketball and baseball...

So that comes to about $400,000

Baylor is not allocated 2% to baseball and even if it did, to be competitive in the current climate...it takes MULTIPLES more than $400k to build a competitive program.
