Inside Baylor’s Effort to Bring a Beloved Look Back to Life
Baylor football will wear a helmet stripe for the rest of the season, sources told SicEm365. The Bears debuted a gold-white-gold stripe on their green helmets in the win over Prairie View A&M on Sept. 12.
Head coach Dave Aranda pushed for the change, but it’s unclear what colors the stripes will be on Baylor’s white and anthracite helmets.
Baylor has traditionally worn helmet stripes, but the Bears eliminated them during the uniform rebrand ahead of the 2019 season, opting for stripeless green, white and gold helmets instead.
The Bears also wore a stripe on their gold-chrome helmets as part of the throwback look for last weekend’s matchup against Colorado. Those helmets featured 10 stars to honor legendary head coach Grant Teaff.
Aranda and the Bears (3-1, 1-0) will head to Tempe to take on Arizona State (2-1, 1-0) at 9:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Mountain America Stadium. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
