I didn't know until a couple of months ago that Josh Bissonette was the son of Matt Bissonette, a great musician that I have been quite familiar with and a hug fan of for a long time. Of course, it has been frequently mentioned during Baylor coverage. They usually say Matt is "Elton John's bass player." Well, that's true, but he's a lot more. He's one of the most sought after session and tour bassists on the planet, and has been for decades. He has also written and produced a lot of songs featured popular TV shows over the years, and he's a terrific vocalist as well as bass player. His brother Gregg is also one of the most sought after drummers ont he planet.
Matt has also had a ton of solo and side projects that probably none of you have ever heard of, and they are all great. I have a bunch of them since I started following his stuff sometime in the 90s.
One of his side projects, which, like most others get virtually no airplay or publicity, was called Jughead, with is brother Gregg, Ty Tabor, the guitarist for King's X, and former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian. The whole album kicks ass, one of my favorite albums of the era. On that particular album, Matt wrote and sings one of the best songs ever made about baseball. I figured it was time folks who are now somewhat familiar with the Bissonette family should know this.
So here it is.
