STORY LINES
• The Bears head to Houston for the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children College Classic where they are set to play Missouri on Friday at 11 a.m. CT, LSU on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT and Arkansas at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday. All games will be played at Minute Maid Park.
• The Bears are looking for their first Friday win of the year vs. Missouri.
• The Bears are coming off a 1-2 weekend against visiting Oral Roberts . The Bears lost game one 7-3, bounced back to win game two 7-4, but fell in game three, 4-2.
•The Bears are coming off a 2-0 midweek victory over UTRGV, the Bears’ second shutout of the year. Kyle Nevin led the Bears with three hits on the day, while A. Thomas and Seay each drove in runs on the day. FR RHP Will Rigney started the game in his first appearance as a Bear, earning the win.
• Baylor has finished its home schedule with a .500 record or better in all 20 seasons at Baylor Ballpark (since 1999) and is 459-205 all-time at the park after starting off the 2020 season 5-3 at home.
• The Bears return all members of its pitching staff from 2019 with the exception of All-American closer Kyle Hill. That includes Friday and Saturday starters Jimmy Winston and Paul Dickens. The Bears also add six talented newcomers to the pitching staff (five freshmen, one junior college transfer), highlighted by RHP Will Rigney, drafted in the 38th round by the San Francisco Giants in 2019 and LHP Evan Godwin.
