My only disappointment is that he ran slower in the semi than round one and I see no excuse for that with a World final on the line. You can't hold anything back in that situation.

I am just guessing that he spent everything he had just to get that far and had nothing left.

He's used to running multiple races in one day at a meet, so no reason to be out of gas after running one 400 on consecutive days other than it has been a long season. He should've been one spot higher just by finishing the race. To my naked eye I couldn't tell that Borlee passed him at the finish line.

It looked to me like he got passed, which was definitely disappointing. I haven't seen the complete results though. He definitely dogged it right at the end, but he must have thought he had no chance of advancing and just gave in.

London looked like he would have finished fourth in his heat if he hadn't coasted a couple of steps before the finish line. I guess it didn't make much difference. It's still an amazing feat for him at this stage in his career.
That's an important thing to remember. What a great young talent. And it's not over yet for Wil. The longest sports year in Baylor history continues with Wil's leg on the 4X400. Seems poetic for Team USA to have a Quartermiler U. leg on the Mile Relay.

Was great to see the performance of Amy CRAGG (USA) in the women's marathon. She finished just a step behind pre-race favorite, Edna KIPLAGAT to earn the bronze medal, both finishing in 2 hours 27:18.

Arkansas Razorback Sandi Morris got the silver in the women's PV.

I'm behind on the night session while watching the morning, so I just saw the men's 400 hurdles. We should've had all four Americans in the 24 semi finalists, but Stigler got DQd. Looked like he might've barely booked a hurdle. Former Bear TJ Holmes won his heat.

World leader MCMASTER (IVB) got the DQ also for a questionable hook as well out of HOLMES' heat. I watched them both on replay, and I don't understand how you can hook a hurdle when you didn't extend the kneee, and then you land in the center of your lane. That's magic bullet kind of stuff there. And how can you gain advantage when you clear the hurdle with every part of your body anyway?

What a great women's 100M final!

I'm very disappointed that all four Americans didn't make the women's 400 semis (top 24). Kendall Ellis blew it with sixth place in her heat and way slower than her capability. We had many women who didn't make it out of the USA meet who could've made top 24 (Natasha Hastings, Courtney Okolo, etc.).

What in tarnation has happened to American pole vaulters? Only Sam Kendricks, who is one of my favorite T&F guys, made the final (top 12) and Sandi Morris was the only woman as Jenn Suhr appears to be over the hill. Armand "Mondo" Duplantis is in pace to be the greatest of all. He's from Louisiana and is in HS, but he chose to compete for Sweden. Surely he will switch to the USA for the 2019 worlds and going forward.

Is Armand the son of Greg Duplantis, the great LSU Vaulter?

Nilsen and Irwin both cleared 18'4 1/2, which was the height to qualify for the final, but both had a single miss at the height and that kept them out.

Anyone with any interest in track should see the women's 1500 final from last night. That might be the most star-studded final ever. When Ginzebe Dibaba finishes 12th (last) it was loaded.

Tonight was another awesome three hours! I'm a big fan of Sam Kendricks and he won gold in the pole vault. Evan Jager took bronze in the steeple for the first American steeple medal at a world championship. The men's 800 final was full of surprises with Bosse winning. Van Niekirk won the 400 as expected.

Kerley looked like he was a victim of the long season. Even though the college outdoor season has been whittled down over the last dozen years or so, it's still makes it tough on the top collegians when it comes to these world-level meets. But, while cutting the number of college meets may have been designed to help elite athletes, it doesn't do the sport, its fans, and the bulk of the athletes any favors. Either the NCAA is about all of its sports or not. You can't expect a resurgence of track & field in the United States but cutting opportunities for athletes to compete and for fans to watch.

Does this meet end on Friday and if so on what channel will it be televised? I head that the 3000 Steeple final was on Friday.

The meet ends on Sunday (8/13), hopefully with Wil London winning a gold medal as a member of Team USA's 4X400 relay. The Steeple final was yesterday. They have been running replays on NBCSN and Olympic Channel. The live meet can be seen weekdays and early mornings on NBCSN and on NBC on the weekend.

Wil will run in the heats of the 4X400 on Saturday (8/12) at 5:50AM CT LIVE on NBCSN. The Sunday final will be on NBC and is scheduled for 3:15PM CT.

Isn't nbcsn going to be renamed the Olympic Channel? I can't find a separate channel.

It was another exciting three hours tonight. What a moment when Makwala did push-ups after the 200 proving he was fit after being quarantined. I was shocked by the 400 hurdles and women's 400 finals.

Maybe, but right now on Spectrum here NBCSN is 314 and Olympic Channel is 316. OC has been showing more detailed coverage of the WCs, but all on tape, along with programming like diving, volleyball, gymnastics etc. NBCSN has stuff like NASCAR, fishing, 3 hours of the Dan Patrick Show, MECUM Auto Auctions, Pro Football Talk, college sports etc.

That women's 400 was something. Even though it was a bronze, just imagine that it was Felix's 23rd World or Olympic medal, 15 of which have been gold! That is some kind of trophy case.

That second heat of the men's 5,000M was a war. CHELIMO (USA) getting pushed around and tripped, then going to the ground another time before getting up and throwing 2 sub-60 laps to get back in the race and holding on to make the final was some gutsy running. MOEN's (NOR) demolition derby run through the field, shoving and squeezing ended in justice with him failing to qualify. He should have been DQd.

The weather was a real factor on the day. Not one entrant in women's LJ was able to hit the auto qualifier mark of 6.70m. The women's shot was affected. Michelle CARTER (USA) got the bronze, but her best of 19.14m was below her season best for the last 8 years. Karsten WARHOLM's (NOR) win in the men's 400H was a case of a brilliant strategy of getting out fast early in the rain and then holding on in the soaking conditions.

I loved the 1-2 finish by the USA in the 400 Hurdles by Kori Carter and Dalilah Muhammad and the triple jump by Christian Taylor and Will Clay. Centrowitz just didn't have it in the 1500 first round. The men's 200 final had three medalists within about a foot.

I'm still stunned that the guy from Turkey won the 200. Where the heck did that come from!! Good for him. Once in a lifetime achievement.

He runs for Turkey, but is from Azerbaijan.

Tonight's broadcast is from 10-1 and I almost went to bed around 12:30, but just had to see the women's steeple. What an amazing race with Emma Coburn and Courtney Frerichs passing the leaders on the last lap to take gold and silver! Frerichs couldn't stop crying in happiness and disbelief. What a thrill!

Before that there was a great battle in the long jump final with old-timers Brittney Reese and Tianna Bartoletta taking gold and bronze with the top three all within two inches.

Women's 200 final was thrilling with Schippers/Talou/Miller taking the medals and all finishing with a few feet. Too bad Bowie and Thompson weren't in it or it would've been epic.

The USA has already won 23 medals and Kenya is second with 8.

I just happened to catch the women's steeplechase and the women's 200 while out eating lunch with the wife. So far I think those are my two favorite finals. It is amazing to me how that power packed white girl from the Netherlands can run so fast.

Wil LONDON III led the USA 4X400 to the best time in the world this year in winning their qualifying heat. The team of LONDON, Bryshon NELLUM, Michael CHERRY and Tony MCQUAY ran 2:59.23 to automatically qualify for the final. That race is scheduled for Sunday (8/13) at 3:15PM CT.

I just finished watching the morning session. Wil did well and looked to me to split sub-45 even coming out of the blocks. Glad to take the world leading time for 2017 from that college down the road.

USA looks ready to win all four relays tomorrow. It was disappointing to see Trey Hardee crash in the dec hurdles and then get zero in the discus as well. He looked foolish to me to intentionally foul after his final discus attempt just because it was a sub-par result. He might as well drop out of the competition now.
GarlandBear84
How long do you want to ignore this user?
What a disappointing 100 hurdles for the USA. We had 4 of the 8 finalists and could've had probably six if not for the limit. I wanted a sweep or at least two medals, but Aussie Sally Pearson won with ageless Dawn Harper-Nelson silver. A German kept world record holder, Kendra Harrison, from a medal and Olivia Manning was fifth. Harrison and Manning are very young and just can't seem to handle the pressure yet.
