I'm mixed so far with what I've seen. Losing in shut out fashion to the ranked teams is bad (esp. the season opener) but at least the last game was mostly competitive (BU was in the game, 3-0 final, just never converted the opportunities they had to score while Clemson did). I don't think its the end of the world because they lost (its early, its non-conf, and they're hopefully learning what players/lineups work best). Like I've said over & over on here, unless you've got an elite stud pitcher you're not gonna win championships or go to the WCWS. Baylor added 2 pretty good pitchers this season, but they're not elite. Based on this (or what we know) the bad news is the schedule has series with Arizona, Tech, and OSU (2 of the 3 on the road) and also a pair with UT and a game vs Aggy. You've got to assume that's at least 10 more losses and maybe more. The good news is all the other games still on the schedule are winnable (about 28 games). The key to having the most success they can will be 1). not screwing up & losing to a midweek patsy and 2). winning the series against the other conf teams that are fighting in the middle of the pack with BU (ISU, UCF) while sweeping the series vs teams supposedly below BU (KU, Utah, UH). Those 5 conf series will be critical. In my mind they've got to win 4 of those series. I think they've shown enough so far to say they are better than last season, at least marginally, but they need to improve over the course of the season and win the key games/series that they've been losing in recent seasons in order to have what could be considered a 'good' season.
