If I went to a Muslim country, I would be forced to eat what they serve

I've eaten pork and drunk plenty of bourbon in some of the most conservative Muslim countries. Many restaurants have non-halal sections of their menus.

That is true and of course raises another question of Baylor's endless woke-social signaling

How many of Baylor's 290 Muslim background students are even interested in halal or following its rather tedious Islamic ritualism & dead legalism.

My gut feeling is most are more secular & academic than serious about their parents old world Islamism..most are probably 2nd gen kids from Muslim immigrant households born and raised in the USA

So Baylor is paying for this…putting cash in the halal industry's pocket….but how many of the MB (Muslim background) students are even interested in partaking?

As someone else mentioned, it would be about economics as far as a decision in my opinion. If there's limited demand, it's unnecessary. If there's a demand, what are the costs of facilitating relative to the options available.

My gut feeling is there is essentially no demand

Maybe a handful of our MB students would even be interested in this option…far less in actual paying for it themselves

Baylor jumped into offering it for its own social and political reasons "look at us and how welcoming, tolerant, & progressive we are"…and less from a place of actual meeting the desires of MB students

After all…we have a vast array of diversity commissars on campus…and their job is to come up with action items like this to meet various diversity mandates

If it was done to check a box on the diversity tolerance spectrum, shame on them. If it's an intentional move to attract more Muslim students, then it could be an economic choice.

It can be both,

You know progressives - they can't explain why they love muslims, they just know that they do. The left-wing media programming has them completely brainwashed into cheering and defending muslims, despite the fact that muslims think liberals are complete trash and vermin - they just look at libs as weak minded tools to use to slowly take control of their communities.

Libs are brainwashed dolts.

Evidently it's not so much that they're hurt by it, as it doesn't even occur to them as a possible explanation.

Oh hey guys, we just need to be nice to invading Muslims as they join our Christian school and demand accommodation for their false religion's practices.

The truth is only non Christians think this is a good idea. No real Christian puts any gods before Christ.

I've come around to your thinking. Not only should we never have a minority coach, we should field an all white team.

The right kind of whites!

The team should only come from Christian schools.

Christian is too broad, is too loosely defined, and too much heresy. An all white Baptist team is what's needed. You know, with Baptist values.

You're right. Don't want no "Talarico" Christians or God forbid, Catholics on the team.

I believe that Roger Staubach is one of them there Catholics. Yuk!

Yep he is, and God answered his Catholic Hail Mary prayer to beat the heretical Vickings. This proves Catholics are the Christians, which is the opposite of my Baptist upbringing. That's why Baylor can't beat Notre Dame in football, and struggles against BYU - all acts of God. If Jerry Jones would just repent, the Cowboys could be God's team again. Oh well, the love of money over winning.

They may have been purposefully humane (maybe). Relatively is the operative word. Relative to what? Today there are far better options, in terms of pain and suffering, but they're still inhumane. It remains an inhumane practice.

We used to beat confessions out of people, some methods possibly more humane than others, but are inhumane.

Another case of religious perpetuation of inhumane practice guised under a cloak of moral sensibility.

Relative to vegetarianism. Otherwise there's no reason to avoid halal meat. At least in the United States, the animals are almost always stunned before killing, so they don't suffer.

Farm-to-table isn't dead. You're just shopping at Whole Foods and calling it analysis.

Tariffs punched some export markets. That's not a secret. Then came $12 billion in bridge payments, higher reference prices, more base acres, and China back on the hook for 25 million tons of soybeans a year plus extra ag buys. USDA says the ag trade deficit is down about 40% from when he took office. You can hate the method. Pretending he "sold out his farmers" while writing checks and reopening China is just fan fiction.

Calling farmers stupid because they don't share your politics is the whole post. They'll keep planting. You'll keep posting.

Man is one step below the angels .Not by power, not by might, but by every word of God, do we exist. By faith shall we live. The spirit that says otherwise, is the spirit of the antichrist. You want a sign ? JEREMIAH 51 :49 , says, because Babylon , has caused the slain to fall in Israel , in Babylon shall fall the slain of , all the earth. Consider that, on this earth, right now , is only one nation , with souls , within their borders ,from every country on earth. How are things going for Babylon ? Consider also that , while JEREMIAH , was prophesying this ,in Jerusalem ,over 2000 years ago that , the prophet , DANIEL , was in old Babylon, prophesying that a man would go into what is now , Iran , with great treasures, and would cause the earth problems , that we have right now , and this man , would divide the land for gain , and worship a strange god. DANIEL 11 : 28 , DANIEL 11 : 37-39. So you see , my God , is not a god far-off, but a God , close at hand.

Funny how PETA doesn't really go after the process of halal hard. Hanging a live animal up and slashing its neck while alive and allowing the blood to drain. Very inhumane and very painful.

It's plain and simple animal abuse - another absurd primitive religious belief.

Halal and kosher practices were purposefully humane when instituted and are still relatively humane when done properly. Another case of religion guiding the development of moral sensibility.

Relative to vegetarianism = inhumane.

Then your issue isn't really with religion.

Religion = inhumane.

Meat is a $300 billion per year industry in the US, of which halal meat is less than 10 percent. Why not say the free market is absurd and inhumane, perhaps a product of primitive liberal democracy?

Inhumanity is a product of mankind/culture. As such, inhumanity tends to worm its way into man's religious and cultural beliefs/laws for justification. Unrelated except to the extent inhumanity is traded in the free market. Free market doesn't cause it, but mankind sure does.

Can animals be humane? Are we not animals ourselves? Or are we divine beings?

We can be humane or inhumane, it's a human concept. There's no evidence for divine beings.

So it's an animal concept conceived by one species of animal on earth. Why would being humane be better than being the same as literally every other animal on earth?

Being humane is better because it allows human society to function, cooperate, and survive. While the concept is unique to humans, the survival advantages it provides are grounded in biology and evolutionary success.

That is how Rabbi Priest , Kosher , veal calfs. It is sacred , and has been done for centuries : Well before this country was founded.

So we have to do it at Baylor? Both methods are sick.

So you are a vegetarian? If you not and you have obviously never been to a cattle processing plant.

no I am not and yes I have.

So what were people supposed to do before industrial meat processing existed?

farm to table. Not possible these days. Love how Trump sold out "his farmers". His farmers are stupid to believe Trump. All about fat boy, not farmers.

I am probably one of the most farm to table folks here, whether in Dallas (hard to find these days) or Thailand. In Thailand we go to the local market most days and buy amazing fruit I have never seen. Get all our veg and fish there too.The fruit guy pushes his cart and rings the bell every sat. Run down there to load up Pineapple and Mango from Chang Rai. already pealed! Eat Raspberry Rice from my GFs farm in the North of Thailand. Now that's farm to table.
