Pitching did much better late in the year.

That bats were never good against solid pitching. We really need some help here.

We have some young defensive talent. Hopefully we can build on that and figure out how to coach hitting against quality pitching.

Overall we finished better than I anticipated.

Did I hear the announcers right say we were dead last in home runs? That's a brutal stat if true. We need to ne getting some power hitters.

Baylor's near the bottom of the B12 is basically every offensive stat. And yes they're dead last in home runs. But that's basically always been the case. Zero pop in the lineup is the norm

Losing Dawson and Waddell was definitely impactful. Dawson was leading the team with .372 average and Waddell definitely had some power.

Creager was also never the same after that 15 inning game against Houston. I really do question the coaching staff's management of pitcher's workload. This hasn't been the first time that Moore has gotten too comfortable riding a pitcher leading to injury. Dariana Orme is one very recent example.

The pitching staff and defense in general showed a lot of potential but the offense really needs some tending to. We are in desperate need of a new hitting coach.

Don't threaten me with a good time

Personally think Coach Moore is a good softball coach. Think he could use a staff refresh though--especially with some hitting guidance/correciton. Familiar with some of the girls on the roster and we aren't getting what we can from some of them offensively. Lots of talent there.

Kaygen Marshall has some star potentially if it is tapped into. Have seen her play several times in travel ball a little in tournaments my daughter played in. She is still raw but will be better next year. Be nice to extract as much as we can out of the power she has. Athletic too with good speed. Defensively I'm still not sure about her at 3B.

Toven started off HOT and it looked like a different batter later in the year and not in a good way often. Same with Cran who has some real pop but also some obvious approach/swing issues that a solid hitting coach could do wonders form..

Jones is one of the most talented softball players Baylor will ever get their hands on and given LSU did not play her at all her freshman season she is basically just getting reacquainted with the game this season. She only hit just north of .100 for awhile and hit over .300 in Conference play. But seen that kid play in travel ball and I think she is going to be special if we can keep her here. Dynamic player with elite speed and could benefit from a good hitting coach as she reacclimates. Dawson had a similar season as Jones as a freshman and started this season out looking far better. Think we can expect that from Jones--if not more of a jump.

Baylor offense needs a jolt. But PITCHING is always key. Tanner encouraged on the back end of the season. But we need a few top end arms if possible. With Toven and Carter graduating we have some serious production to replace. Jones will help with that. Getting Dawson back will help with that. But portal looms large for Coach Mooore. Feeling pretty positive about he softball team.

Avoided the Run Rule!!! Could have done better though. Held their offense decently for most of the game. Only 3 earned runs through 5 innings (1 error at 3B allowed 4th run). And if the call had gone our way in that first inning and we were able to get Carter & Jones in tone might have been a little different. Jones called out due to batter/runner interference killed some momentum we had trying to answer back. Call could have gone either way but in the strictest interpretation of the rule Jones was slightly inside the runners lane although she didn't interfere with the throw/catch in my view. Then we just didn't make adjustments offensively against TX's ace.

Season ended up better than it looked like it might earlier in the season. They were 1 of the final 32 teams left standing which is pretty darn good given how young the team is and that there were 2 key injuries (Dawson & Waddel).

I know that Glenn Moore will be on the bonus John Morris Show tomorrow. The bonus show starts at noon and lasts till 1 pm CT at the Brazos Landing. Usually the John Morris show is 9 am till 10 am Monday through Friday. Speaking of which Coach Johnigan is on right now.

This is for the bonus show which Glenn Moore will be on.

Glenn Moore revealed on John Morris show. Steve "Hoot" Johnigan is stepping away in order to be with family more because he is retiring. Same goes for Britni Newman who is stepping away in order to be with family.

That's a plus IMO on Johnigan stepping away.

So CGM's top 2 assistants are 'stepping away' to be with family. Sounds like the good ole "We'll let you say you're 'retiring' because if you don't you're fired" scenario.

2 big time important hires now need to be made...gotta get these right.

That is a loss..great softball and baseball coach.

On the contrary, I have talked to both in February when I was in Waco at the Getterman Classic, they were not ready to leave but family has some demands/responsibilities.
