JT Gasso from OU can develop hitters.

He probably wouldn't come to BU as his next stop should be HC but, I think you still have to make the call.

Thanks for posting.

How/when do we find out about portal comings and goings?

Maybe for a HC gigs. But no way he's leaving OU for BU to be an assistant

I don't think he comes to BU for anything other than a HC spot.

I know he doesn't come to BU if he's not asked.

Not that I am Facebook friends with Steve Johnigan but I saw this on his page. His wife was my math teacher my junior year. His oldest son Zach graduated with me. I even know his wife Annie. This is about family right here, and I can't blame the decision.

Warncke is a wonderful young lady I've heard. Best teammate you can ask for. But I don't see this as a huge loss. She threw hard but she got hit a lot and often. Don't think she has a lot of movement or deception. Maybe she'll go somewhere that she can play more like a mid major. We need to be hyper focused on the portal and try to get some booster support to compete with the better Power 4 schools or we will be stuck with just being happy with maybe making regionals here and there.

Newman committed a very solid, dedicated 23 seasons to Baylor softball and definitely left her mark on the program. She's had many great pitchers develop under her coaching, often taking players who may have not been highly sought after, and turning them into all-conference level arms.

It'll be interesting to see who Glenn Moore brings in to complete his coaching staff. I don't know what they pay is like, but it has to seem like a favorable destination for an up and coming coach. Say what you want about Moore, but he did rally this team to a post season appearance, and just two seasons ago, was one swing of the bat away from another WCWS. Two solid hires could really elevate this program back to national relevance.

He has already interviewed 2 maybe 3 this week as well as 2 pitchers.

Well I have noticed a lot of quality pitchers that are planning to be in the transfer portal. The Texas state ace is one of them. Of course in general I have noticed some really quality position players as well.

Technically the transfer portal opens on June 8.

Not trying to be ugly but who did she coach up besides Canion and Ferguson?

Not asking me, but I'd say Cristin Vitek, Heather Stearns, Kelsee Selman, Gia Rodoni, and Rylee Crandall would qualify.

Add in Aaliyah Binford and Dariana Orme though Orme wasn't the same after injury. Still it is a good list.

I almost never pull for the so-called University of Texas.

Last night I was cheering for Sam Swan of Arizona State. She did a fine job of carrying her team for two nights. Unfortunately, her coach thought she knew more than anyone else and pulled her own pitcher to insert Kenzie Brown into the game. That was a fatal mistake. I've never thought that coach was particularly bright. Once again, she let her own inflated ego get in the way of her lack of good sense.

Congratulations to Sam, anyway. You showed great character.

Jenny was a pitcher at MCC before Baylor, she'll be the new pitching coach. Her husband Brad will be the new hitting coach.

I have known Jenny since fall of 2012. I actually had one of her classes at MCC. I have kept in contact with her and kept up with her coaching career. She has been moving up in the coaching ranks. Personally I'm glad that she is back in Waco. I am also glad that she is back at her Alma mater. In addition, I am glad for their families because they will see Jenny and Brad's daughter Emma more now. Emma is 9 years old.

Northwestern's team batting average was right around 300 for the 26 season.

That's against lesser pitching but I assume it's also starting with lesser talent at the plate.

Just an hunch. I'll be happy to be wrong.

Does BA matter when the coach gives away 6+ (of 21) outs via sacrifice bunts routinely?

I think it has a potential to be a complete upgrade of what we had before.

A sac bunt can be like a great pie crust with crappy filling. That crust is fundamental but there's more to a pie than crust.

BA is always important but, knowing how to use a bat with runners on is just as important.

If I have a runner on third with less than 2 outs, I'm cool with a sac fly.

If I've got a runner on second, I want the batter to be able to hit behind the runner.

There's a time and a place for a sac bunt but without the ability to plate the run , sac bunts don't do much for you.

All that being said, If I have a runner on first with no outs, I want to be able to plate that run well over 50% of the time.

If I've got a pitching staff that routinely gives up 5+ runs a game, the small ball strategy becomes a moot point. So ya, BA matters and the sac bunt does too.

The analytics on sacrifice bunts (except to tie or take the lead in late innings) is clear…..never advisable.

Congratulations to TT for making it back to the WS championship game. They now have 61 wins and were the 11th seed. Beating the #1 seed with 56 wins and now take on #2 with 51 wins. Sounds like the committee got a few things wrong. I've really enjoyed watching their run especially the two games tonight against AL.

I hate NIL but congratulations to TTU for figuring it out.

Team full of mercenaries bought and paid for. I won't ever root for Tech in anything. They're relevant athletically because of NIL solely

If BU gets a multibillionaire dumping money into NIL, will you feel the same way?
geewago
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Baylor fans talk out of two sides of their mouth when it comes to NIL. Its alright for the football team to print Tshirts that said "we pay our players ". And they do. Lagway didn't come here to play for pennies. Drew spent some big bucks on "one and doners". But if Tech or TCU does it, its condemnation time.
IowaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Baylor has been relevant athletically prior to Nil that's the difference. Tech has not. That probably answers your question
IowaBear

What did Tech win pre Nil? I'll wait. Your argument is Apples to Oranges. Drew won a title pre Nil. Briles had Baylor on the cusp of greatness pre NIL. Mulkey had the woman's program winning nattys pre NIL.
