Part of that is Baylor's leadership ****ting the bed. No serious football program would still employ Dave Aranda. Baylor advertised to the world last November that they weren't serious about football when Linda announced she was keeping Dave. NIzl has hurt programs like Baylor. Baylor has also did a fine job of hurting themselves by keeping literally incompetent coaches

This is bad loss. Great kid and a very good player/teammate. As I understand she is retiring.

Charleigh is a really good kid! But move makes sense. She was an exceptional travel ball player but I've heard she had to deal with a few difficult things off the field which has greatly impacted her as a player. Sounds like she and Coach Moore made this decision together based on what's best for her as a person. Wishing her the best.

The hope now is that Coaches Fuller and Fuller will do a great job as coaches. The bigger hope is that the program can bring in impactful talent and if no NIL money is the reality that will be an extreme uphill battle in today's transfer portal environment. The AD needs to show that they value the program and give them a little money. Not sure if one of the known donors is willing to write checks if there is no tangible recognition associated with it (e.g. named stadium, named batting facility, etc).

We have a portal visitor on campus today..could be a thrower?

Madox Mitchael is a 5 ft 7 inch infielder who will be a junior next year. She spent first two seasons at Houston. Bats left handed but throws right. She is from Fairfield, TX where she attended Fairfield High School.

2026 stats- started all 51 games. .314 batting average (slugging percentage .431 and on base percentage .392). 48 hits on 153 at bats (8 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs). 27 runs scored when she was on base. 66 total bases. 24 RBI. 19 bases on balls, 2 hit by a pitch, 20 strikeouts, 2 sacrifice flies, 2 sacrifice hits, and 8 stolen bases out of 11 attempted.
Fielding- .933 percentage, 78 put outs, 19 assisted, and 7 errors.


2025 stats-

Started 39 games out of 42 played. .271 batting average (.281 slugging percentage and .376 on base percentage), 26 hits out of 96 at bats (1 double), 19 runs scored when she was on base, 27 total bases, 13 RBI, 15 bases on balls, 3 hit by a pitch, 20 strikeouts, 3 sacrifice flies, 2 sacrifice hits, and 13 stolen bases out of 17 attempted.

She made 30 appearances includes 9 starts. 4-2 in record 0-5 in shutouts and 2 saves. 54.2 innings. 1.54 era. 36 hits (6 doubles, 0 triples, and 1 home run), 18 runs (12 earned), 42 strikeouts, 26 bases on balls, .193 batting average against, 2 wild pitches, 7 hit by a pitch, 0 sacrifice flies allowed, and 8 sacrifice hits allowed. All this was last year.

This is usually accurate on players leaving programs. so it looks like Esparza is coming back to Baylor. It is a wait and see. Brown and Pogue are good attrition if it is true.

One of the incoming fr. is Emerson Lechler daughter of Shane Lechler. That name should ring a bell. He played for TAMU and many yrs. in the pros as one of the great punters. She is 3rd baseman/!st. Long baller. You guys will enjoy her.

We visited with Softball coach, Glenn Moore, after the Lady Bears scrimmage last fall in College Station. He told us that he was going to a volleyball game in East Bernard the next day to try and recruit the Lechler girl to play softball at Baylor. Congratulations to her on her future at Baylor!
