Before the season Coach Moore was excited about his 2018 team. Felt as though the offense may be one of his better lineups. Well...not so much. Over the past few games Coach has rearranged the line up trying to get a spark that is truly missing on this team. I don't know the statistics but to me it has been plainly clear. Clutch time hitting has been sparse if at all. Too many bases loaded left on base end to innings. Too many first pitch swings which never helps to ware out an opposing pitcher.

But, everyone knows the key to success in collegiate softball is always going to be pitching. Amen? And this season....we just don't have the quality to make it in the league.

Gia Rodoni, for what ever reason, hasn't been herself at all. Is she playing with too much pressure on herself as the Ace of the staff ? I don't know. But this isn't her year.

Reagan Green has been a nice addition but so far I don't see her shutting down many top 20 teams.

The balance of pitchers on the team must not be good enough for the competition or else we would have already seen more of them.

I miss Kendall Potts and wonder what happened to her? I know Rhonda Jarvis had to give up the game due to her injuries. But you can't get info on Kendall.

Anyway, I digress. It is what it is....team chemistry, leadership, batting coach, whatever it is, this team this year just isn't top twenty material.

Swept in 2 games yesterday at OSU. Was run ruled in 1st game. My 2 cents is we don't have any heavy hitters, except for 3 or so. Coach needs to recruit larger frame young women-the smaller ones don't have any power. OU, Tx, & OSU appear to have larger stronger playmakers. Our pitchers appear to be adequate but you can't win if you can't score runs. Just my 2 cents worth-----

Actually, we don't have the pitching. You can't expect to score 5 plus runs every game in softball just to win. Also, we are struggling to find a third baseman.

Going into the OSU series this team had the #7 batting average in the nation. They are definitely getting hits and getting on base- but there is only so much you can do with bunting and slapping. #7 batting average but not even top 40 in the nation in scoring. Just not good in clutch situations.

Rodoni has definitely shown some great flashes throughout the season but I think being the only reliable pitching option is having an effect on her. She really has no help to back her up. That can be tough.

2017-2018 Baylor sports (at least the ones much of anybody cares about) not named women's basketball have all been disappointments to one degree or another this academic year and even women's basketball bowed out at the Sweet 16 level. Injuries have impacted almost all of our sports as one major contributing factor. This has just been the lousiest academic year for Baylor sports in a long, long time.

There's a commonality in that.

Yes, there is commonality, but it also looks like the Lady Softballers found themselves over the last 13 games, going 12-1 to finish the regular season. I will say, this group is a little light on pitching compared to last year's team, and we have to create runs differently this year, but we got it done in the end. Hope we can host in the national tournament. That would be a help to this squad.
