I don't know how you can rationally trust our system or not want radical change with the massive amount of failures we've encountered as a nation for decades.

I supported Trump because he seemed to want a return to traditional conservatism, as opposed to the neocon version of the last few decades. Some may consider that radical, but I don't really. I'm against the extreme right, anti-democratic agenda that Trump and his followers increasingly seem to support. There's no need to accept that kind of thing just because you want reform.

And they don't realize that what the FBI is doing by going after PB and OK types is cleaning house on people who Democrats and alphabet media lump into the GOP coalition (but actually are not). And the investigations will merely prove what we already know.....that there is not only zero connection between these groups and the Trump Admin, but actually a negative connection. Both OK and PB see no fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats. They think BOTH parties are the problem equally.

When you hear the propaganda term "our sacred democracy" used by coastal liberals you know exactly what they really mean.
"Ours" they mean the rich, connected, and progressive.
"Sacred" if you are a materialist agnostic who instead of worshiping the Lord of Heaven you worship governments and political unions long since corrupted.
"Democracy" if you mean rule by opaque spy agencies, nearly untouchable Federal bureaucracies, lifetime politicians, and Federal Judges.

They should go a head and ban Trump...they should honestly just have the spooks in our intelligence services arrest him and disappear him.
Its long since time we stopped pretending that the regime we live under is a Constitutional Republic.
At this point letting people like Trump run and even win just gives average Americans false hope that this regime is the same one as that of their forefathers and that it can be influenced by elections.
Even if someone comes along that will threatened the intrenched power structure of the regime...they will not be allowed to govern even if they win.

If they really thought that, they wouldn't be pushing the 6 Jan Committee so hard. Sole purpose of that is to take out Trump. Won't work, though.
Here's a presentation you should watch. Former Stratfor analyst with primary background in economics & demographics. He gives these kinds of presentations on trade and national security. to US military forums, corporate leadership, etc...... They are particularly resonant with me because it literally reminds me of classes in grad school - big picture plate tectonics that fundamentally explain the forces likely to drive events. He's laying out what I've told you before about the GOP coalition, just in visuals that put it in better perspective. Every consultant I know says the same thing. It's why Trump owns the GOP, why RNC is behind him, etc..... He has made the party bigger than it has ever been. Even after pissing off you and Sam and Canada and etc...... Starts at 1:40
In explaining the new "swing voter" constituencies, he elides over a few discordant issues but also implicitly explains why those swing voters will mostly break right the next couple of elections. See if you can spot it.
He also hammers home the reality that several posters here need to come to terms with - Trump has brought in MORE votes to the GOP coalition than he has run off. You just happen to be in the part that he ran off. And even after he ran you off, the party was still BIGGER. You could come back. Would be the pragmatic thing to do. The left won't give you the time of day and going third party is wasted virtue posture effort that will accomplish nothing. Why not compromise and play with the part of the political spectrum with which you have the most in common? Why be so intransigently intolerant when you could be effective?

The Republican party (corrupt as it is) did not accept or excuse a summer of riots, 40+ murders, $2 billion dollars in damages, and the destruction of hundreds of priceless historic statues representative of our history and peoplehood.
The Democrats (Liberals and Leftists alike) did and make no apology for it.
If the GOP is downplaying or minimizing a single riot on Jan. 6th it is because they are mimicking the behavior they see on the other side.

you make a pertinent point there at the end. Goose & Gander.
That said, the GOP is not downplaying a single riot. The GOP is refusing to treat a single riot like an insurrection, because the riot was in fact not an insurrection. A majority of the public understands that and Democrats are harming themselves trying to push the issue anyway rather than dealing with real problems that affect ordinary people.

"A Pennsylvania man who admitted to leaving a bag of homemade bombs in downtown Pittsburgh during the 2020 protests against the death of George Floyd won't spend a day behind bars. Matthew Michanowicz, 53, was sentenced to time served and three years of probation by a judge"
"A man who set a deadly fire in a Minneapolis pawn shop during the 2020 George Floyd riots was spared a murder charge and sentenced to just 10 years after federal prosecutors invoked Martin Luther King Jr. and asked the judge to show leniency."
vs How the Left, through its control of the Courts, deals with its political enemies:
Lots of anxiety in the MAGA ranks today. Stay focused and secure that perimeter, boys.
Deep State Sam chatting again with the voices in his head, I observe ...
he's desperate to spin indictments of Proud Boys leaders as proof of a MAGA inspired insurrection.
His ultimate wish is to prevent Trump from being able to run so we can continue electing establishment a holes who fleece us and cause economic hardship.
No more populism, only those with money and DC approved clout can participate in our democracy.
So spinning this 6 Jan thing into what the Dems, Alphabet Media, and neverTrump Republicans want it to be is going to be a mission impossible. That is not to say they will not diminish themselves trying.
It's not going to work, They have nothing to run on with the economy and country in the toilet.
J6 hearings are a campaign effort at demonizing the GOP coalition and hoodwinking people like Same into believing a vote for GOP today is a vote for lawlessness. It won't work on people like me craving policy change because I'm paying an extra $1000 a month this year due to inflation.
I don't need a committee to tell me what the GOP has become. I saw it as soon as they caved on the second impeachment.
Poor Statist Sam, so upset Justice prevailed over his paranoia, yet again.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
They haven't even pulled out the big guns yet on Trump. This farce of a hearing tomorrow night in prime time is child's play of what will come if the GOP is dumb enough to put him on the ticket.
Trump is the crazy ex-girlfriend some of you can't quit. There's a better girl out there with the same sexiness with less craziness. As Iceman typed to Maverick, it's time to let go.

Unless deSantis Runs in 2024, Trump will be President in 2025. Just imagine what the Democrats will do then.

The same thing they did last time...
Get the Federal bureaucracy to refuse to carry out his lawful orders as President, have your media organs spend 24-7 propagandizing against his administration, then impeachment him for any reason in a basic coup d'etat.

You are letting emotions occlude your thinking and thus ending up getting it exactly backwards. Right now, no serious data-based assessment shows anyone even close to assembling the coalition Trump already has in hand. Add into that the macro-factors of the cycle and 2024 is setting up to be a landslide. Nominating anyone else puts it all at risk. THAT's why you see the party lining up behind him.
I think there is consensus that DeSantis is the most viable alternative. But here's what neverTrumps steadfastly refuse to recognize: there's 20m Trump voters, people who hadn't voted in 5 elections but came out to vote for him twice, that might not show up for ANYONE else.
It is impossible to craft a coalition to overcome loss of that voting bloc.
It's not the Reagan-Bush GOP anymore. It's a multi-racial, blue collar, middle class party. It is a broader voting base than what the Democrats have to work with. And it's growing.

You're letting a lack of awareness get in the way of sound decision making. The "20m Trump voters" is a classic spurious claim by Trumpers. In fact the anti-Trump vote is a much higher factor and negatively impacted down ballot races throughout the country in 2020. It will do the same in 2024. I've seen the internal polling, and it is not good for Trump. His promotion to the candidacy is driven by pure emotionalism, and a fear of his actions should he not get the nomination. He's already proven he's willing to go scorched Earth, and he drove away dozens of solid candidates from the races, including a friend of mine who was as classic of a conservative, non-elite, non-political careerist, as you could find. Trump is nothing but emotions and a brand name. He will hand the Presidency back to the Democrats if he's the nominee. The only thing holding Desantis back from running will be the participation of Trump. Period.

You are in error. The 20m number is well documented, as are the demographics, well outside of Trump world, including the link I provided, Selena Zito, etc….
There is a reason DeSantis will not run against Trump, and it undermines your reasoning - Trump has the larger coalition and there is no plausible scenario where any other candidate could build a bigger one.
That's it for me. No emotion at all. Who's got the best chance to win. The answer is patently obvious.
