Its long since time we stopped pretending that the regime we live under is a Constitutional Republic.
At this point letting people like Trump run and even win just gives average Americans false hope that this regime is the same one as that of their forefathers and that it can be influenced by elections.

They are particularly resonant with me because it literally reminds me of classes in grad school - big picture plate tectonics that fundamentally explain the forces likely to drive events. That said, the GOP is not downplaying a single riot. The GOP is refusing to treat a single riot like an insurrection, because the riot was in fact not an insurrection. It is impossible to craft a coalition to overcome loss of that voting bloc.

You are in error. The 20m number is well documented, as are the demographics, well outside of Trump world, including the link I provided, Selena Zito, etc….
There is a reason DeSantis will not run against Trump, and it undermines your reasoning - Trump has the larger coalition and there is no plausible scenario where any other candidate could build a bigger one.
