They have many thousands (millions?) of shares and possibly warrants/rights, etc. They will have to sell them to Musk and be subject to millions in cap gains tax. So fitting for them to pay "their fair share" because Musk forced their hand.

If someone (especially in leadership) has a completely different vision for the company and will be an impediment I have no problem cutting them loose.

If they have different viewpoints but will do the job they are assigned and won't poison the workplace, I think it's worth it to keep them on.

We (rightfully) criticize organizations that let go of people with a conservative viewpoint or make them scared to speak their mind. Let's don't become the thing we have criticized. Let all the people losing their minds over this sale do that and let the world see people for what they are.
