Seriously thread after thread of just feeling disgusted with today's world. Boomers are fully in power and causing every bit of it. The generation that was given the world on a silver platter with little effort has done everything to muck it all up and is definitely leaving the world in a much worse position than they were given. I sincerely wish each of you realize that inflation coupled with terrible job salaries has effectively killed it for the everyone that is after you all. ****ing boomers.

When they lay the last one of us in the grave, the world will thank God!!!

To be fair, the silent generation raised the boomers, so blame them as well. Wait a minute, didn't Billy Joel write a song about this?

I blame the liberals and the democrats. Sure, some of them are boomers, but all the crazy about transgenders, they/them, him/her, me too, etc... isn't coming from the majority of people born from 1946-1964 and certainly not from the conservative side of the boomer bunch.

If people need someone to blame, you can look directly at these woke liberals and the democrats that pander to them.

Hate to break it to you, but it's only going to get worse. You cannot, never, not in a million years replace sound policy with social justice and have it be successful - unless the goal is to kill America.

A Generation of Sociopaths: How the Baby Boomers Betrayed America Hardcover March 7, 2017 by Bruce Cannon Gibney
Publisher's Summary
What happens when a society is run by people who are antisocial? Welcome to baby boomer America.
In A Generation of Sociopaths, Bruce Cannon Gibney shows how America was hijacked by the boomers, a generation whose reckless self-indulgence degraded the foundations of American prosperity. A former partner in a leading venture capital firm, Gibney examines the disastrous policies of the most powerful generation in modern history, showing how the boomers ruthlessly enriched themselves at the expense of future generations.
Acting without empathy, prudence, or respect for facts - acting, in other words, as sociopaths - the boomers turned American dynamism into stagnation, inequality, and bipartisan fiasco. The boomers have set a time bomb for the 2030s, when damage to Social Security, public finances, and the environment will become catastrophic and possibly irreversible - and when, not coincidentally, boomers will be dying off.

It's fun to blame the boomers and libs but the entire system is garbage. I had to pay more in taxes than the average person earns in a year and what do I get in return? Runaway inflation, wide open borders, increased crime and record level debt. We need to have an overhaul of our congress so they have term limits and a balanced budget amendment. They shouldn't be allowed to pass these trillion $$ spending bills that nobody has read that are full of garbage that just waste money. NO more of these wars for somebody's democracy in the 3rd world. These wars arent for the "democracy" theyre just for wasting money on military contractors. Our governement hates us and it's obvious that we the people are just a vehicle for those in govt to get rich off of.

If you dislike Boomers so much, you probably should have not voted for a 77 year old guy with dementia. We are now all feeling the pain because you 81 million people are more worried about your feelings than having competent leadership that makes competent decisions.

Yes, we need younger leadership these days for sure. Would love to see age limits and/ or term limits.

One thing to the Boomers' credit, when they take out a loan, they are obligated to pay it back. These younger generations, not so much.

Some blame sure, but not all the blame like the OP is trying to establish.

I'm not a boomer, but I can see with my own eyes how screwed up the millennials and Gen Z are. Oh hell, throw in Gen X too...

The point is that each generation gets a little more liberal and with each generation America is screwed up a little bit more. Well except now... it seems the current crop of young liberals are hell bent on destroying America as quickly as possible. They think that social justice is fair justice and nothing can be further from the truth

I am curious why you are disgusted with today's world? This is the best time to be alive in history. There is more opportunity and starting from a higher baseline than any generation in history. You should be stoked! To be starting now, wow! What do you want to do or accomplish? The world is your oyster?

Go to Mars? Or work on Space? There is more private sector jobs in that area than ever!

Communications?

Logistics? Supply Chain, Amazon, Air Freight? All open to you.

Entertainment? Bigger and more diverse than ever, so many forums to choose!

Energy? Petro, Nuclear, Wind, Geo Thermal, Tidal and even mining is exploding

Transportation? Propulsion changes, hyperloop, air, bike ped (You can make a living in PEDESTRIAN!) Vertiports, Drones.

Food Production

Health

Military

Not even starting to discuss the opportunities in sustainability and resilience from climate change. It is the wild west, you can create your own, just be creative and propose it! Look at the Venice and Houston solutions to protect ports.

All starting with the highest standard of living in history!!! You have computers, cell phones, internet all pretty much standard, even at poverty levels. The education level is higher now than ever, college grads enlisting in the military and selling cell phones that is how high trained the labor force is.

All you have to do, is pick a field and start talking to people. So many cool areas that never existed to outher generations. A simple thank you would suffice...

The Boomers definitely are the most selfish generation in American history. Since day one it has always been about their individual, narcissistic desires to the detriment of the greater good (yes, I acknowledge a very generalized statement). No generation in recent memory has been more greedy and selfish.

I think it has the indirect effect on their rearing the first generation of ignored, latch-key kids because they wanted to forgo their parental responsibilities for greed. That had the impact on Gen X of over-correcting and rearing a bunch of "everyone gets a trophy" virginias.

Baby Boomers, the me too gang, millennials, etc., brings to mind "no matter how much things change they stay the same." Who's going to turn it around? Socialist Liberals or Social Conservatives? I think not. Each generation has contributed to the race for the bottom. I'm for turning the clock back to Viking time. Rape, pillaging, death, and destruction. Wait why go that far back? Today we just turn on the news and watch reckless social-indulgence.

Ok, guys time to take responsibility for your own lives. It is not some age group responsible for you not being able to find a job. Time to look in the mirror.

Maybe the problem the younger generations have unrealistic expectations of what "normal" is! They seem to want their parents ability to pay for a lifestyle 3 years after graduating college. When in reality it took the "Boomers" a lifetime of work to get there.

I am sick of people saying Socialism or some other Government based entitlement is the "right way" to do things.

I dont think its fair to blame a generation. Of course I am a boomer but maybe its the generation that rased the boomers and then the generations that have followed that havent stepped up,

I think its sad to hear one political party blame all our ills on the other. I watched one of my grandsons football games once and sat next to the father of another player. Abut halfway through the game our kids were losing he started complaining about the other team. He said he had heard rumors that the coach had long practices and the school had a better weight program and the cheated by running summer camps that pushed the legal guidelines. I didnt argue with him but I wondered why he didnt complain about his son;s and my grandson's team for losing?

Run better candidates win more elections and start winning. Dont blame the officials, dont blame a generation, blame yourself for not running good candidates. Run honest electable conservative candidates that can show leadership and pull America closer to the middle. Or keep up the status quo and ***** after the loss.

A lot of people think rationally like this, but it's much more complicated.

Campaign finance and the systemic nature of government makes whatever leadership, integrity, honesty that exists, absent. If you make the decision in government for the betterment of the people, you're going to get blacklisted and lose any ability to make a change. Whips and leaders will end you for not going along with the corrupt status quo.

The status quo is the problem. What we all agree on is normal is the problem.

How come there is always an answer for why the suggestion, that other generations used, won't work for the current younger people??

No matter how many alternatives, suggestions, solutions we put out, there is always a reason why it can't work.

Life sometimes takes time - I went to the Texas Panhandle for my first 28k a year job from Florida! You think I wanted to do that?

My first house was bought out there and I made 5 k when I sold it, but the 5k helped me buy my next house when I got a better job in Florida.

It took 15 years to crack 90k working damn hard. Now, I am supposed to give up my better paying job after 30 years of work or feel guilty???

My wife and I did not fly on a vacation for the first 20 years of marriage because we had kids and couldn't afford it.

Maybe your expectations are screwed up. You want a house, serve in the military and get the VA mortgage. That is how I did it.

I wasnt blaming the boomers but if you look at the people in charge Nancy, Joe, Mitch, Mitt, the BUshes, Clintons etc they are all boomers. It started in the 90s with NAFTA sending our middle class manufacturing base out of America. All of these politicians have profted by selling us out to China and now we are a shell of what we were in the 90s. 20 years of wars, heroin coming in from the Afghan poppy fields, record debt, homeless everywhere and open borders. Forgive me if I DGA F about the Ukrainian civil war bc we have bigger fish to fry over here. There were no weapons of mass destruction, we solved nothing in Afghanistan and I really dont think Vlad Putin is any worse than Bush or Obama,.

Pretty much this. Ask yourself how we have so many elected officials who make $200k/yr but are worth high 8 or 9 figures. Some inherited or earned it before, but plenty did not.
That is not a new occurrence! That is as old as politics itself. To say that it is the Boomers is disingenuous. They just happen to be the ones in the barrel at this point in history. Even Ike ended up being a millionaire after serving in the military and public office his whole life. Truman is the only one I can think of that was under a million (500k)
I didn't just hang it on boomers. They are the ones at the twilight of their careers and out in front now, so it really shows.

You didn't even listen to what he said and basically said "I suffered and worked myself to the bone and you should to dammit."

And even with a VA home loan you're still taking out life changing debt, have you seen housing prices in most of the country recently?

No issues, these are discussions.

This is the current batch, but there has always been this issue with elected officials. Is it moral, no. But, it is a fact of life.

Just having access will make you money, through Board of Directors positions, information for investments or even jobs after. You may do nothing wrong, but make a lot of money through better information.
