Here in San Antonio he ran the most disingenuous election ad equating abortion as an emergency healthcare procedure, expressing his outrage that his wife might have not been able to get care if she needed that. Used his wife and children in the ad.

If he wants his wife to get an abortion, they have the freedom to go to New Mexico (or another state) and get it done.

This part of the beauty that is (or should be) America - state's rights. We're not a nation and not supposed to be a nation. We're a union of sovereign states (well, at least supposed to be).

You can live in a state that aligns more with you beliefs. If you live in a state that doesn't align with your beliefs, you can move to another state. You don't need permission to move, you don't need to apply for citizenship to another state, you don't need a visa. You can just pack and move.

Hell, if you live in Texas and love to use abortion as birth control, you can cross state lines, get it done, come back to Texas and not even be arrested or go on trial.

Today. We both know they won't stop at their state. Lubbock county has passed a law which makes it illegal to use Lubbock County roads to travel out of state to get an abortion.

I would consider him, but he campaigned promising to do away with the filibuster. That would make the Senate just like the House

The filibuster needs to be reformed. You shouldn't be able to filibuster from afar. It should be done from the floor. I'm even ok with 8 hours 30 minute break.

But the senator who filibusters should believe in it.

Several judges have said that the ordinance wouldn't hold up to legal scrutiny.

But those ordinances should be challenged immediately and have the removed from the books.

It's interesting you say that it won't stop at the state. Now you know how 2nd Amendment supporters feel about various government imposed weapons bans. It won't stop at "assault weapons" only. Also, 1st Amendment supporters. It won't stop at "hate speech"

Hopefully you're old enough to remember "Mr Smith does to Washington", in it, the senator "Smith" launches a filibuster where stayed on the senate floor talking about the issue he was opposed to.

Today, senators can use the "silent" filibuster. They don't have to go to the senate floor to filibuster a bill.

Explain 60 vote cloture rule

I think Mr Smith movie took some liberties. At that time it took 75% to break a filibuster

Just an attempt to get black and disenchanted Dem voters out.

They expect many non devout progressives to stay home due to the lackluster economy and unpopular Harris. Trump and Cruz will win Texas, so him running may help Dems down ticket.

And btw, on the idea of looking and meeting with donors - they know he won't win, and no rich dude is just going to flush money, so these meetings are where the DNC explores the prid qou pro and how they'll get their money back to the donors through contracts and tax dollars. Happens for both left and right sides of the establishment candidates.
