RamaSwamy is a smart guy.

I prefer him over Desantis
yes, he is very good choice. Hope he can pull an Obama and come from nowhere to win
Obama came from the US Senate, so not actually nowhere, unlike Vivek.
sure.. he was a nobody, empty suit for a handful of months where he literally did nothing as a senator and ran for president. Mostly nowhere
I think 46 months counts as more than a handful. Of course that didn't stop y'all from excoriating him as woefully unqualified. What's stopping you now?
please cite a single post by me
Where I did that..

I found Obama to be very average like W.. The GOP has been throwing up the absolute worst low energy canidates for several elections before Trump.. easy to see why a young high energy guy offering hope and change won.
Dubya was the governor of Texas. I like Ramaswamy, but how does he have comparable experience?
I prefer a candidate without experience. No more swamp.
You really think there will be no more swamp with a new President? We need someone that knows how to use the swamp, not waste 4 years trying to destroy something that is beyond his power to destroy. Go in with that attitude, he will be a very frustrated 1-termer if he wins and a more Conservative agenda will go no where.

That is a really good question to raise.

Can the swamp ever be drained? Or is it simply a waste of time trying to fight a form of nature and just get someone who knows how to navigate it?

Hard to know….

Can you name any major Govt without a swamp? Can you name any small Govt without a swamp? Can you name one organization without a swamp? It is human nature. To me, it is the Frog and Scorpion story. Try and go against the nature of things at your own peril.

I prefer for someone to work with the Swamp and get things done.

I am cynical about Govt, money and power. What I see and worry about in Maui? Is that the big money people will come in and redeveop it for the wealthy. The State of Hawaii will not be able to turn down the billions that will be coming in. It will become even more unaffordable to the normal person. A playground for the Taylor Swift's and Jeff Bezo's of the world gentrifying those that have been there. The Jason Mauma's (net worth over 10 million) of the world will be the "real natives"...

I like him but will prob vote for desantis in the primary.

VR has made a major blunder IMO in that he is projecting too clearly what he wants to do. This includes a direct attack on the swamp. He wants to do away with federal agencies like the Dept. of Education (completely). A better strategy is to talk about government waste in vague terms and talk reform. Then, when elected, enact an organized and devastating plan to meet your vision. By projecting his plans, he has the swamp mobilized against him and we have seen how that goes. Better to not give them any warning.

Can you imagine Trump doing anything physical other than running his mouth.

I think he is finally listening to his handlers………….get down in the Lying Biden Basement, be quiet and don't come out until we tell you.

Just learned that Ramaswamy wants to completely defund Israel by 2028. He also just wants to give Taiwan to China.

Both of these are dealbreakers for me. Vivek for now has dropped off my list.

Here's what he said:

Israel

While anti-Israel activists have long lobbied for ending U.S. military funding to the Jewish state, Ramaswamy said he supports Israel's continued security.

The candidate's stance on the military aid$3 billion a year, which Israel is largely required to spend on U.S.-manufactured equipmenthas changed several times over the past few months. This week, he told the Washington Free Beacon that he supports ending the military funding once the current package passed by Congress expires in 2028, arguing that the aid will be unnecessary after he successfully negotiates new peace treaties between Israel and its Arab neighbors during the first year of his presidency.

"If we're successful, the true mark of success for the U.S., and for Israel, will be to get to a 2028 where Israel is so strongly standing on its own two feet, integrated into the economic and security infrastructure of the rest of the Middle East, that it will not require and be dependent on that same level of historical aid or commitment from the U.S.," Ramaswamy told the Free Beacon on Saturday.

Ramaswamy describes his Middle East plan as "Abraham Accords 2.0," an expansion of the historic Trump-era deals cementing relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco.
He said he would broker expanded agreements between Israel and Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Indonesia, and believes he "can deliver that in my first year in office."

"Why is that important? That integrates Israel into the economic and security infrastructure of the rest of the Middle East, in a way that hasn't happened because Israel has been wrongfully held hostage over a complex historical Palestine question, from being able to integrate itself," he said. "Because Israel was isolated, that required years of the U.S. having to stand for our democratic ally, including in the form of military aid to Israel."

Taiwan

Taiwan produces about 60 percent of the global supply of semiconductors. China has claimed sovereignty over the island since 1949, after the nationalist party in the Chinese civil war fled there and declared independence from the mainland. Chinese President Xi Jinping has increasingly insisted on "reunification" with Taiwan, even suggesting through the use of force.

The U.S. maintains "strategic ambiguity" regarding Taiwan, refusing to specify whether it would militarily defend the island if China attacks. President Joe Biden said last year that the U.S. would commit military force to Taiwan's defense, but the State Department tried to walk back his comments.

Ramaswamy told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Monday that he wanted to move to "strategic clarity" on Taiwan. He argued that China only wants to invade Taiwan for two reasons: to control the semiconductor industry and to resolve the Chinese civil war.

Ramaswamy said, "Do not mess with Taiwan before 2028, before the end of my first term," when he believes he can achieve semiconductor independence in the U.S.

But "that commitment is only as far as 2028 … and we will not take the risk of war that risks Americans lives after that for some nationalistic dispute between China and Taiwan."

Trump has said he is skipping the debate tomorrow night. Is not signing the loyalty pledge. He says there are "3 or 4 Republican candidates" he would not vote for. Screw him. That tells me it is more about him than the good of the country.

We need younger leadership. Biden and Trump are too old.

His "ties" are that when he was 25, he accepted a scholarship from Paul Soros to attend Law School. Would you turn down a scholarship worth $$$$?

P.D. Soros Fellowship for New Americans Vivek Ramaswamy (pdsoros.org)

You do know that Donald Trump took over $100M loan from GEORGE Soros?
This guy comes out of nowhere, very polished in saying all the right things in all the right ways.

Pardon my skepticism, but I've come across many politicians that talk a good talk. He has no history on voting on policy, well because, he's never held a position in elected office. He hasn't even been mayor of South Bend, IN

DeSantis has proven he can walk the walk, that's why I'll voting for The Ron.

Pretty mainstream response for a GOP primary meeting hall. It's hard for the uninitiated to appreciate the degree to which a GOP primary is a RINO hunt. The newcomer will be presumed a RINO until the price otherwise.

Love what VR has to say about the Founders' Vision of self-government. I don't doubt so much that he's sincere, but that he will lack the warrior fortitude it will take to effect the needed change. There be dragons ahead which will require sharp swords and stony hearts to slay, entire institutions which have themselves become the problem.

Politics is a series of compromises. It's doing things you hate to get things you want or need in order to get re-elected.

Model US Senate/Model UN should be required at the HS level. It's amazing how absolutely cut throat that can get with fake bills, no actual voters, etc.

"Don't do that again," Maher advised.
"Oh, why not?" Ramaswamy wondered.
"Because it didn't turn out well for Kendall Roy on 'Succession,'" Maher responded, referencing the HBO show.
"Guys who are not rappers rapping is just-- I'm telling you just as a friend," Maher continued.
"My view, Bill, is I do what I feel like doing at that moment," Ramaswamy said.
"Yes, that's the problem," Maher replied. "The idea of president 'I do what I want at whatever moment' is not, like, an appealing thing. I see why your team is trying to take you away--just the rapping. Tennis is great."

He seems to be the GOP version of Obama when he came on the scene. Very well spoken. Brings a lot of energy but very little experience and most don't know his background.

Trump is going to run the GOP into the ground with everyone going after Desantis. Desantis would do the best job and has the record to back it up. No one is perfect obviously so watching the Dems prop up Trump is going to be wild the next 6 months.

Desantis is about to have the full weight of Dems and MAGA come after him.
