None of these failures is particularly surprising given the arc of Durham's investigation. When he began to wrap up in September, it was clear that he would be unable to live up to the right-wing hype. The only two cases that he brought to trial resulted in acquittals; the one guilty plea he obtained was of an FBI attorney for altering an email used to obtain a surveillance warrant for a Trump campaign adviser. But Durham still includes many of the allegations that the juries rejected, a move more likely to muddy the waters than provide clarity. MSNBC

What laws are on the books for a govt agency to lie and spy on a US President. very few. I don't think anyone saw that coming. Plus those who lied to the FISA court got a slap on their wrist and are now practicing laws shin in DC.

Again, with the DC judges and voting base there we've seen u can do anything u want with zero consequences. Because we all know if this was flipped there would be firings and hearings with jail time and hundreds of press on the door step of the GOP natl security adviser demanding he resign etc etc.

Quit watching msnbc and wake up. It was people like u who bought this story from the beginning and called everyone a conspiracy theorist for saying it wasn't true. Now that it was u say no big deal since no one was arrested. Must be nice to live in that world.
All durham had was one guilty plea and two acquittals. The rest is allegations and it cost $6 mil for the allegations
$6 million is a small price compared to the damage done by Hillary and Obama. Whether or not their actions were criminal, they and their party must be politically accountable.
Where is the evidence? Your arguments always fill when confronted with lack of evidence. Nothing went to trial nothing was proved.

Well, some things did get proven, like the fact that multiple Trump campaign officials were caught lying about their contacts with Russian intelligence agents.

The report is evidence. The citations therein are to evidence. Evidence is not "proved." It exists or it does not exist. A trial neither proves nor disproves evidence.

Funny thing will happen when you start reading and thinking for yourself.

Well, some things did get proven, like the fact that multiple Trump campaign officials were caught lying about their contacts with Russian intelligence agents.
Durham brought receipts that show the the FBI found out that Hillary concocted a plan to falsely accuse Trump of Russia collusion. We now know it was on Aug 3, 2016, 3 days after the FBI opened its investigation into Trump. They knew this and didn't shut it down.

What campaign officials are you referring to? Mueller didn't find evidence of some grand plot by the Trump campaign to collude with Russia in order to influence the election. You're assuming that. Every business contact in Russia on the planet is under the boot of RU intelligence. That doesn't mean its nefarious.

It's that word "falsley" that we will just never agree on. For God's sake, Don Jr literally accepted an offer to help in the election from "Russia and its government" in writing. And I don't care what spin you want to put on Manafort/Kilimnik, even in your most charitable portrayal that is still far more than enough to warrant further scrutiny.

I could not give any less shts that the Hillary campaign noticed the same things that the rest of us without our heads up Trump's ass did, and then set about to get the FBI to look at it too. The Hunter Biden investigation came from a similar path by the way, and based on far more nebulous accusations, but I don't hear Joe out there calling any of those fishing trips "treason".

Will Trump endorse the Republican candidate if he does the nomination?

You're not up to date on what's been found and how Mueller's investigation got things wrong.

This is what Mueller found. Footnote 867 of the Mueller Report, one Mark Lenzi told the FBI that Konstantin Kilimnik had ties to Russian intelligence

Mark Lenzi had worked with Kilimnik at IRI, but Lenzi left IRI in 2007! Mark Lenzi falsely accused Konstantin Kilimnik of being a Russian asset. Kilimnik was actually an adviser to the U.S. Embassy in Kiev.

So what you believe to be true is based on bs hearsay that Mueller didn't properly/fully investigate. That's what happens when you have establishment lackeys like Andrew Weismann running the investigation who omit facts like Kilimnik being a known worker at a US embassy. On top of that you don't even have evidence of nefarious intel being shared by Kilimnik.

The HRC campaign used bogus intel. Durham proved that intel was completely fabricated, so how are you able to make the claim that her paid-for dirt had any basis in reality? Especially once Mueller's work got ripped apart?

The difference between evidence surrounding Hunter and the Trump campaign is that there's actual verified legitimate evidence pertaining to Hunter. We have a laptop with pictures of him smoking crack, engaging in underage prostitution and photos of him and Joe hanging out with foreign business associates. Very different from some guy who worked with a campaign staffer more than 10 years prior who simply claimed that campaign staffer had links to the Russian government which was later debunked.

Anyone want to tell me why I shouldn't believe our government is captured by bad actors and we have a totally compromised system?
Ok, than McCarthey needs to do something besides cry about it! Dems impeached. Come on, if there is new stuff here worthy of the rhetoric, IMPEACH! Do something besides cry about it! I am sick of the inuendo, conspiracy theory, message board Patriot ****, if there is something there, charge em and prosecute. If not, shut up.

I see nothing new here that we already didn't know and cry about for years. Time for GOP and McCarthey to sack up and do something. Bring the votes and impeach if Biden is mentioned. I don't care that the Senate will acquit, make them sit there and do it. Dems would think nothing of doing it. Or, is the GOP splintered and McCarthy doesn't have the juice to do it?
Republican primary voters get exactly what they vote for. Conservatives continually elect people who despise them. We should impeach and we should hold the feds accountable for pravda propaganda, lies and bull**** we have overwhelming evidence to back up.

Moral courage is what's lacking.

The right has got to stop electing neocon uniparty loyalists.
Do not disagree with any of that. I am just to the point of do something (within the law) or shut up about it. I am sick of hearing it and nothing sticking. Or idiots describing the FOX vs Dominion case as anything but an ass kicking by Dominion. Dems act. GOP talk
Yes Dems act and GOP talks. 100% spot on,

Right now Dems don't want to cut any of our astronomical spending. Most voters support spending cuts and GOP is demanding it. Dems have gotten their media cohorts to smear SCOTUS for weeks now so they can push this bs idea that the 14th amendment is a basis for forcing congress to raise the debt limit. They're vicious and they don't care if it breaks the country.

Weak men create hard times. Modern GOP is run by little boys.

Dunham's timing is a gift to GOP. We can have public hearings for 6 to 8 months into the 24 election in Congress. Just do it!
I'm curious. This is WaPo so maybe the news is sinking in

Yet we're still left with a motley collection of odd and unsavory figures sending a lot of money through a lot of companies to a lot of members of the Biden family, with little explanation why. Comer contends that bank records confirm more than $10 million in payments, run through at least 20 businesses, mostly limited liability companies, to the president's son Hunter Biden; the president's brother, James Biden; James's wife, Sara Jones Biden; Hallie Biden (widow of Joe Biden's son Beau, who died in 2015); Hunter's ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle; Hunter's current wife, Melissa Cohen; and, as Comer noted, "three children of the president's son and the president's brother."

We will accept the results only if a Republican wins? Will Democrats file bogus lawsuits brought by incompetent lawyers?

Will Trump endorse the Republican candidate if he does the nomination?
No. the Democrats just collude with the FBI to concoct some bull**** story about collusion with Russia and spend the next four years "investigating" the president while a complicit media runs every anonymous source's allegations with reckless abandon and cover their asses each time with "If true..." .
Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

[The FBI Is Not Your Friend

The Durham report vindicates skeptics of our state security apparatus:

Hillary knew. She knew her campaign paid for Russian disinformation (including the alleged "pee tape" accusations) to be washed through a report by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. She knew the information was false but could potentially allow her to win the election. Hillary lied to the FBI about all this, and lied to the American public. Such was her appetite.

The FBI knew. They knew none of the information in the Steele dossier could be corroborated, and they knew most of it was false. They turned a blind eye, purposefully and with the intent to defeat Donald Trump in the 2016 election, to basic investigative and tradecraft rules to use the corrupt information to surveil the Trump campaign via the FISA court. When Trump won the election anyway, the FBI continued to use this information to assault the loyalty and viability of President Trump, and ultimately tried to use the information via the Robert Mueller investigation to impeach or indict Trump.

Only one person went to jail for all this, a minor player named Kevin Clinesmith, for providing false information to the FISA court. No changes are planned for the FBI. No charges are to be brought against Hillary Clinton. The deep state came within an eyelash of bringing down an unwanted president as surely as they are believed to have done in Dallas `63. Words were the weapon this time, not bullets.

These are the conclusions of the final Durham report released last week. The report was written by former Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was chosen in 2019 to examine the FBI probe known as "Operation Crossfire Hurricane." Durham provides the only comprehensive review of what came to be called Russiagate, and shows how close to the edge our democracy came to falling into the abyss at the hands of the deep state.

It all sounds dramatic, as those terms have been bandied about so often and in so many contexts they may have lost some of their meaning. But make no mistake about itthe FBI tried to shape the 2016 election and, having failed, tried to run Trump out of office. If you thought the "Hunter Biden letter"the one signed by dozens of intelligence professionals calling the Biden Diaries potential Russian disinformationwas wrong, you should find the conclusions of the Durham report a horror show.

There was nothing true in the Steele Report, for example, this key paragraph:

Speaking in confidence to a compatriot in late July 2016, Source E, an ethnic Russian close associate of Republican US presidential candidate Donald TRUMP, admitted that there was a well-developed conspiracy of co-operation between them and the Russian leadership. This was managed on the TRUMP side by the Republican candidate's campaign manager, Paul MANAFORT, who was using foreign policy advisor, Carter PAGE, and others as intermediaries. The two sides had a mutual interest in defeating Democratic presidential candidate Hillary CLINTON, whom President PUTIN apparently both hated and feared.

The FBI had no intelligence about Trump or others associated with the Trump campaign being in contact with Russian intelligence beyond Steele. Despite being unvetted and uncorroborated and coming from a single source with direct political ties to Trump's opponent, the FBI used such accusations to justify a full-spectrum surveillance operation against the Trump campaign, the first known such operation in American history. The FBI omitted the fact from its FISA application that Carter Page was in fact not a Russian agent but a paid source for the CIA who had been vetted by the Agency as being loyal and reliable. They just lied, and even when the lie could not be ignored, the FBI lied more to keep the surveillance application alive before the FISA court.
Durham found that "throughout the duration of Crossfire Hurricane, facts and circumstances that were inconsistent with the premise that Trump and/or persons associated with the Trump campaign were involved in a collusive or conspiratorial relationship with the Russian government were ignored or simply assessed away." The FBI acted "without appropriate objectivity or restraint in pursuing allegations of collusion or conspiracy between a U.S. political campaign and a foreign power."

It could not be clearer. The FBI knew what it was doing was wrong and did it anyway because the ends, defeating Trump, appeared to justify the means....]

I don't think it is as involved as that. The cover-up and justification is involved, they always are. But, I think this is as simple as a a good old boy network that took the word of people over them and followed through. Simple as that.

Hillary's campaign, representing Clinton juice, brought this up to Comey, who was a crony. Comey, who had no reason not to believe his friend, passed it on down the line. The #2 at FBI, made the personnel choices based on who he thought would get it done, Sztrock. And away we go.

The presumption was always that it was true because they trusted the person over them. I don't even think Hillary knew the details initially. Sort of like Iran-Contra, Reagan knew but really didn't know by design. This is one of those in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, illegal and wrong. But not as planned out as we think now, 7 years later.
