Biden is a ****ing disaster. He's moved to the extreme left on many of his positions, and now caters to the craziest leftist elements of his party. The fact that Trump is beating him in the polls should tell one all they need to know about what a disaster he's been.
Can you imagine if the Republicans were actually running a decent candidate against him? He/she would be wiping the floor with Biden.
Unfortunately, you are correct. If R's had a decent candidate, they would hammer Biden and it wouldn't be close, but we have Trump. Just a pathetic excuse of a candidate. He is crazy and a Psychopath .
The R's could have a decent candidate. There are plenty of them available. Trump has created a block of about 35% of the electorate that would run through a brick wall for him. They really are crazy for him. Too large a block for anybody to make a dent against him in the primary elections. Of course I know you know all this, I still just marvel at the fact he can keep such a large block of folks in his pocket. Especially Republican politicians.
This is the elephant in the room. For a very long time now, voters have learned that most Republicans only care about ordinary people when they are running for re-election. Promises were made to stop obscene spending, reform Social Security, put originalist judges on courts, make our nation safer from foreign threats, and focus on traditional American values. But from Gerald Ford to the Bushes, from John McCain to Mitt Romney, from John Boehner to Kevin McCarthy, from Trent Lott to Mitch McConnell, those promises are forgotten the moment the election is over.
Donald Trump won over his base in 2016 by making very specific promises, and in the minds of his base did more than any Republican since Teddy Roosevelt to actually follow through. What stunned me after 2020 was talking to people in my work and neighborhood, and learning how many
still regard Trump as the only candidate they trust to actually do what he promises.
They don't care about the courtroom drama.
They don't care about his inability to shut up.
They don't care about whether he had an affair.
The
only Republican right now who genuinely can win their vote is Trump. I talked about Cruz and DeSantis, but they don't have Trump's credit with the base. I talked about the young generation and got shrugs.
Candidates are not supposed to be interchangeable, and this year they really are not. For 2026 and 2028, the GOP had better find a way to establish credibility with voters, or whatever happens in November 2024 won't matter in the long term.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
