I think a NY jury secured the victory for Trump, yesterday. Saw polling this morning that shows Trump has increased his lead over Biden.

I think they are going to rue the day they tried to disqualify Trump through political prosecution.

I wish it was so. Go look at narcos where the Mexicans are burning ballots etc.

That's republicans in November 2024'wondering after most everyone has less money and a lower lifestyle and more debt elected bidenobama…again. By at least 8,000,000 votes

The evidence was compelling, and the defense was mostly bull****: Cohen and Daniels are liars , and it didn't happen. The evidence showed otherwise . I'm sure Trump could have explained it all away, but then he chose not to testify probably because he's not as good a liar as Cohen. But then there were documents, and several other lying witnesses. Does it seem funny that Trump seems to surround himself with liars?
Evidence was compelling the business records were falsified, no question. Where there was little or no evidence to speak of was that they were falsified in the commission of a felony. I've seen even some leftists lawyers commenting on TV that this is where the case will likely fail on appeal. The DA failed to meet its burden to prove the commission of an underlying felony offense.

Not sure why the defense team failed to hammer the prosecution on this point. Instead they wanted to make Daniel and Cohen appear liars, when they should have said, "Even if you take as true their allegations, the prosecution has presented no evidence whatsoever of a federal election crime, fraud, or other felony offense.
Maybe I am missing something. How were they falsified?

Trump employed Cohen as Attorney.
Trump tasked Cohen to deal with Daniels situation
Cohen worked out NDA with Daniels and executed.
Trump paid Cohen for legal services.

I am not seeing the falsified docs? Even on audit, Cohen paid for legal services would have been fine.

I guess motivation for NDA? But that is speculative, embarrassment, wife finding out, image/brand, privacy, etc... All are enough to show there is no one reason. The fact that he did the same with McDougal just shows a pattern that he does NDAs with all the porn stars he messes with, its his thing. Maybe he has a kink that he doesn't want out? Point is there are a plethora of reasons why he would do a NDA. Why he paid? Look at the women, they earn their living on a pole, of course he paid. So, I am not seeing the beyond a reasonable doubt "election cover up and misappropriation".
I followed the trial closely and I agree completely.

I kept waiting for the felony evidence and it never came.

It was a very helter skelter trial and both sides were all over the place.

It didn't take long to figure the felony charge was a reach.

Curious. Are you a lawyer? I've wondered how other lawyers viewed this if they followed it close

I don't think we will hear much from lawyers, because the trial was not allowed to be covered on TV and we have no sure way to know what was said and how. We have selected versions of testimony from witnesses, but it depends on who you ask how the details shake out.

Lawyers don't like to comment where so much is sealed. Several of the judge's actions have been called 'irregular' by several lawyers, so we shall see what happens at the Appeals level.

My guess is this will be settled at some level of Federal Court, as Trump's rights appear to have been trampled.

Now if the Governor pardons Trump, as has been suggested, that could entice the federal judges to leave it be, which would be a huge win for Biden.

No. As a matter of fact, I never went to college because I couldn't afford it.

I had the time and wanted to see what I thought as if I was a juror.

I watched/listened to updates on CNN because I figured the info they selected would be bent towards a guilty verdict. To my surprise, they were pretty even handed on the minute by minute updates.

That whole exercise was a complete waste of time. The "gotcha" moment never came.

I still have no idea why that case was even brought forward. Just a whole lot of nothing.

I'm still quite surprised that 12 people agreed to convict based on what I saw/heard.

I came away from it firmly convinced that this was solely politically motivated.

One way or another Biden is going to 'win'.

And at a time when the American people shrug off the 'suicide' of Jeffrey Epstein in a federal prison.

When the American media doesn't demand the publication of those on Epstein's client list, of individuals having sex with under aged girls.

It's naive to believe anyone is going to question the 're election ' of the oldest president in US history .

A man who is clearly exhibiting the signs of dementia.

We have folks arguing over relatively minor points. Which candidate is the most dishonest, most disgusting., most corrupt.

While ignoring the critical issues .

Which candidate will keep us OUT of still another war.
Which candidate will STOP this unprecedented invasion of our country's borders by MILLIONS of unvetted military aged individuals.

Which candidate is best qualified to battle the inflation which is destroying the quality of life of the American middle class.

Which candidate will reduce fentanyl poisoning in our country ?

that part wasnt in question to most of us.. and it was a misdemeanor charge. Should have been a fine but instead it was twisted to be 34 "felonies"

Highly likely to be reversed
Will it? Attorneys out there, weigh in?

The Appeals Court does not try re-try cases, nor look into whether it should be charged as a felony or misdemeanor, correct? The Appeals Court looks for mistakes of process, procedure and judgement by the Court, not making a new verdict or charge.

The court of appeals looks at the law and specifically the charge. The trial court was wrong on the law in several respects, including the non unanimous jury instructions.

Although deference is given to the jury as to issues of fact, the court of appeals still must weigh the evidence by looking at the sufficiency of the evidence. Did the evidence, as a matter of law, go beyond the beyond reasonable doubt standard?

It is a little difficult to win when you keep pissing off the voters. In 2020 I posted on here the abortion issue would kill the GOP and it has. I was told no way, it's the border and economy. Well, I have news for GOP voters. There is the base and it does not matter what Trump does, he gets their votes. But the MTG segment is not large enough to overcome Democratic give aways that appeal to lower middle class and lower voters.

There are women and independents and they are falling off the platform. I'm not sure they can justify voting for Biden but they damn sure are not voting for a party running on deep seeded desire to lose.

I'm hoping that somehow the GOP can capture both houses with a good majority and then i won't care who is President.

I mean, let's be real. There was not 34. It was one potential crime counted 34 times. It would be like a murderer being charged by the stab instead of the singular crime of homicide. But I digress...

And as slimy as what Trump did, I still don't see how reimbursing an attorney for hush money paid to a porn star constitutes election fraud.

I mean, Trump is a narcissistic, egomaniac and I dont in any way approve of his behavior but we have politicians selling national intelligence, spending billions and billions in foreign aid and engaging in proxy warfare off which they profit, taking constant kickbacks from lobbyist and supporters to encourage special rules and legislation. And that's all ok. But this? This is it for Trump?

I dont like the guy but if you dont see the witch hunt then I don't know what to tell you.

This attack on Trump is an extreme measure they went to just to maintain power. It will embolden them to go toward further extremes.

Democrats know how to use power and they couldn't have pulled this off without support of the GOP.

I hate to say it but it's just going to get worse and 99% of us will eventually be very low middle class and poor after buying power erodes and inflation never ends.
Agreed

Dems have pulled this off due to the indifference of the GOP and outright fear the American people have rapidly developed regarding the FBI, DOJ and our democracy loving arsonists.

100% correct. Though most people simply can't connect the dots either out of ignorance or mental fatigue.

sensible..

Polling of independents show growth toward Trump recently. Still waiting to see polling a couple weeks out post conviction. Some bumped Biden a bit, some bumped Trump a bit. Money is flowing heavy toward Trump right now.

I think there are enough votes for Trump to win if held today. Not sure it holds, november is a long way away. Either canidate could have a health issue before november..

It was an electrifying time in America. We, liberals wanted awareness of the in justice in our police departments and changes to the qualified immunity of officers.

It doesn't and it isn't, and it sure as hell isn't a felony. Much less 34 of them.

I think the real point we are missing here is the dems are still trying to pretent the 2016 election was illegitimate, which is absolute garbage. The way Clinton has been kackling about it, I'm sure her hand was in it at some level. These people 8 years after the fact are still election deniers. They make Trump look like an amateur when it comes to election denying.

Since 2017 they have been working on creating a felony so they could get a biased judge and a biased jury to convict Trump of it.

That is all that has happened here.

Does it reduce the nacissistic and completely slimy way Trump conducts his life? No he is a slimeball.

But, eventually what goes around comes around. Whether Republicans use Lawfare against dems, or if this pisses off the Maga crowd so much they virtually all show up at the polls instead of just 75% of them, karma, reap what you sow, goes around comes around, roosters coming home to roost, whatever you want to call it, eventually this backfires for the dems.
