Also, on the personal character front the Democrats have it all over the GOP. Donald Trump is just a scum bucket of a human beong and JD Vance has demonstrated he has no personal convictions other than being for JD Vance. The Dems have picked a career prosecutor and a career teacher/football coach.
I mean, honestly, this is laughable. Anyone who thinks Kamala has better character than either Trump or Vance is looking through a hyper-partisan lens. I mean, you have a leftist who slept her way to the top, used her race to get her advantages, made very questionable well-documented prosecutorial decisions, had multiple sexual relationships with men of questionable character, married a guy who got his nanny pregnant, has been totally incompetent as VP, changes her dialect to match her audience, and is disingenuous as the day is long.

LOL. I doubt anyone is buying what you're selling.
Trump ran the scam Trump University

Trump tried to get Playboy to do a spread called "The Girls of Trump" featuring his female employees.

Trump cheated on his first wife with Marla Maples, then divorced her, and married Maples. Then another divorce.

Trump married Melania, and cheated on her with a Pornstar.

Trump defamed a woman that accused him of sexually assaulting her.

Trump tried to override 80 million American voters with his unapproved elector scheme, and almost got his VP killed in the process.

Kamala isn't a good person either, but remove the plank from thy own eye first.
vote for who you think has the best policies and all will be right in your world. Ignore the noise, they want you to get sucked into the noise and ignore the policy stances..
What are Trump's policies?

Jailing people that burn the American flag? Unconstitutional but he doesn't care

Deporting 15-20 million immigrants? Ignoring the fact that this is an impossible task, will cost billions and result in higher inflation

Lower corporate taxes so the deficit goes up even more? Awesome

We've already seen that he is ineffective getting legislation through congress even with a Republican Senate and House.

Why should I ignore the "noise" and vote for this guy?
I am no fan of Trump, and wasn't a huge fan of his policies, but when the other side's policies are a fiery and burning train wreck, I will agree with another poster that at least Trump's policies do far less damage than what we've seen under Biden/Harris.

I mean, in a nutshell, 1) we have more than twice the amount of illegal immigrants flooding the country, with no end in sight, and little if anything done to fix the problem; 2) cost of living and inflation exponentially increasing under Biden/Harris; 3) a foreign policy that has led us to the precipice of war with a nuclear power, a bellicose China threatening its neighbors, an unchecked NK, an out of control Iran, and war in the ME, Fall of Saigon moment in Afghanistan, 4) attempts to force vaccine mandates on millions of Americans through OSHA, of all things (thank God for the Supreme Court); 5) out of control spending, 6) attempts to get rid of white supremacy in the military (where apparently that wasn't a problem); 7) a focus on DEI and woke policies throughout all level of govt.; and 8) an economy on the precipice of a recession.

I mean, if those aren't enough policy reasons to hold your nose and vote Trump, I am not sure what is.
Because I don't have faith that Trump is going to be better in those areas:

1. Trump, an unelected person, has already tanked the bipartisan border bill earlier this year so that the border would still be an issue and help get him elected. The bill was negotiated by Republican Senator James Lankford and would've tackled the asylum issue that is the biggest problem facing the border. Wasting billions on a border wall won't do much without addressing the asylum problem. All this is ignoring my opinion that the mass immigration problem is way overblown. Oh no, all this cheap labor wants to come to our country during times of high inflation and declining birthrates, the horror.
2. Trump's proposed policies are only going to make the cost of living and inflation worse with his proposed aggressive tariffs and deportation of cheap labor. Inflation grew exponentially worldwide as a result of the response to the pandemic and compounded with supply-chain issues, and the US had one of the best recoveries compared to other nations. Yes, Biden/Harris admin did things to make inflation worse but they also did things that helped. We would've seen similar levels of inflation no matter who was president
3. Funny you mention NK since Trump gave them more credibility by actually meeting with Kim and saluting his soldiers. If Trump is president Russia still invades Ukraine, but would've already won the war. October 7th still happens. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was set on the timeline that Trump set, the suicide bombing at the airport was ISIL-K not the Taliban so I don't see how it plays out any different.
4. Well when as many Americans are dying as they did on 9/11 everyday a Vaccine mandate sounds pretty good. A lot more Trump voters would still be alive.
5. See Trumps first term, but add lower revenues so an even higher deficit
6. Non issue
7. Cringe but non issue
8. The fact that we never had a recession after Covid is miracle, and mainly thanks to the FED which Trump wants to control and make less independent. One bad day on the stock market (which are already bouncing back) does not make a recession.

Well, except his 4 years were better in every single area I mentioned, but sure.

Biden has been a disaster in all of those areas. Far worse than Trump, your attempts at spin notwithstanding.

1. He said Congress should pass the law...if the Supreme Court does not uphold it... then its the system working that out. Yea its red meat politics but its not outside the norm for a Conservative candidate to say something like that. Obviously SCOTUS ruled State laws around the issue unconstitutional already...but a Congressional law might be different. Trump is intitled to push for such a law.

2. Deporting 20 million people is not impossible at all...more likely the GOP and Dems unite to stop it since they both love cheap labor...but lets not act like the USA can invade nations all over the earth but we can't kick out some 3rd worders....of course we can.

3.. The GOP has always pushed to lower corporate tax rates...often joined by corporate friendly Dems...that is not new.

4. The fac that neo-con/anti-populist Republicans join with Democrats to stop Trump from pushing any pro-nationalist or pro-populist legislation is not a reason to vote against Trump. That would just be rewarding the Mitt Romney and Nancy Pelosi types in DC

I am baffled by your response. Did you read what I wrote? If so, did you think I was arguing Trump is a good person? Um no. Never said or suggested it. He's a scum bag, no question.

If you had read my comments a little closer, I was essentially saying what you are - take the plank out of your own eye Dems if you think Kamala's character is better than those opposing her. Neither candidate is going to win any votes on character.
The initial comment is a comparison, in which case Trump has the longer dirty laundry list in my opinion. We aren't talking about binary good or bad otherwise no one would ever vote for any politician ever.

The initial comment was in response to a comparison. Context is your friend.

And the comparison was not just with Trump, but with Vance. Your position makes no sense.
FG: "I think Kamala/Walz has better character than Trump/Vance

You: "Anyone who thinks Kamala has better character than Trump or Vance is hyper-partisian

Me: Here's a list of bad character things that Trump has done.

Why are you having a hard time following this? It's pretty simple
For the third time...because I never said or suggested that Trump was better than Kamala. I argued that they all have low character, and Kamala isn't any better than Trump or Vance (as the poster I was responding to said). You're the poster who seems to be suggesting Kamala has a marginally better character than Trump (but not Vance, I guess).

If that is your point, fine. It's a dumb point, but so be it.
Claiming that it's laughable that Kamala has better character than Trump suggests that you think she is worst.
Do you think they are equal?

Yes, that is exactly my point, I've said as much already. If you think that Trump and Harris are in the same realm of bad character then why is it dumb that I think one is marginally better?

You also made no comments about Walz or Vance so why do I have to?

Because, who cares? Who cares if Trump is a marginally worse person than Harris? They both suck. So let's not pretend character should play a role in this next election.

And if you will review my post again that you responded to, I did indeed mention Vance.

You seem to want to argue inane and irrelevant points. I consider that a waste of time, so I will bow out of this silly debate.
Hey fair enough. Sounds like we're both in the same ball park so no use arguing.

Nice seque from Trump's character to Harris' profession, while conveniently leaving out observations of her character, as well as observations of her effectiveness in said profession. Neither is fit from a moral character perspective to hold any office in a democratic republic. Both are more fit for a Venezuela or Russian fascist government controlling every aspect of peoples' lives including private property, religious faith and decisions about personal choices. Peel back the curtain and take an unbiased look at the "wizards" being proffered for national leadership. And be very afraid of those who covertly tell you that they are the repository of what our nation's foundations truly mean and that they are the only ones who can insure liberty. "Democracy" to these folks means a popular vote based on what they have promised citizens without said citizens having to be responsible for life in this nation and in their communities. A strong Congress is the insurance against such people and we have nothing of the sort to protect us from either demagogue. The same situation can be said of the Reichstag in 1933, and while neither candidate can be accurately compared to Hitler, both are unfit for office. It is the larger lessons which apply for us here. People must examine the unvarnished truth for themselves.
What personal character flaw of Kamal harris makes her unfit for the presidency? Can you cite to a specific action that was unethical?

Political philosophy and policy.

I don't care about her sexual proclivities.

It is completely sensible. You guys have picked just awful human beings to head your ticket. The attempts at false equivalency are lame and independent voters know it. You are going down in flames and have nobody to blame but yourselves.

1. Presidents are entitled to sign in Unconstitutional laws? How is "Yeah he wants to do bad stuff, but our systems will stop him" an argument?

2. Cool so best case we get 4 years of Trump spinning his wheels on this issue? The current estimates of all illegal immigrants is much lower than 15-20 million, so let's say he plans on deporting every single one. Convince me how the juice is worth the squeeze?

3. Which isn't inherently a bad thing when tied with lower spending, but he paired it with increased spending.

4. You can use whatever labels you like, but Trump is horrible at coalition building even with other republicans. It doesn't matter what his proposed legislation is because he has no chance of getting anything passed. You can blame the uniparty, but if he were an effective president he'd find a way to get it done. The fact that both parties that hate each unite to stop Trump is a negative to me not a plus.

How do you know its unconstitutional?

Congress had never passed a anti-flag burning law.

You realize that the previous law overturned was a State level law correct? I mean surely you did some research before you started making claims.

In the event that Congress did pass such a law...it would then probably be litigated at SCOTUS eventually.

We would know then.

4. The fac that neo-con/anti-populist Republicans join with Democrats to stop Trump from pushing any pro-nationalist or pro-populist legislation is not a reason to vote against Trump. That would just be rewarding the Mitt Romney and Nancy Pelosi types in DC

2. He would no doubt use his executive powers to re-instate the remain in Mexico policy and prevent many migrants from coming....he would speed up deportation times using his customs enforcement power...and probably order an increase in raids.....so while he might not get 20 million 3rd worlders out of the country without Congress signing off..he would prevent millions form coming in and probably kick thousands out.

It would be a good thing....vs another Biden 2.0 administration and open borders.

3. Congress paired it with increased spending....the power of the purse in the Constitutional is in the hands of Congress...the Covid mass spending fiasco was a Congressional branch decision.

Also, on the personal character front the Democrats have it all over the GOP. Donald Trump is just a scum bucket of a human beong and JD Vance has demonstrated he has no personal convictions other than being for JD Vance. The Dems have picked a career prosecutor and a career teacher/football coach.

1. Presidents are entitled to sign in Unconstitutional laws?

How do you know its unconstitutional?

Congress had never passed a anti-flag burning law.

You realize that the previous law overturned was a State level law correct? I mean surely you did some research before you started making claims.

In the event that Congress did pass such a law...it would then probably be litigated at SCOTUS eventually.

We would know then.
I know because I actually did do my research.

In response to the Texas State flag protection statute that was struck down by the Supreme Court (Texas vs Johnson 1989) The 101st Congress tried passing the Flag Protection Act of 1989, but was also struck down by the Supreme Court in United States v Eichman 1990.

Nice try though. Are you one of Trump's advisors?
Quote:

Flag Protection Act of 1989 was struck down on First Amendment grounds
In response to this ruling, the 101st Congress passed the Flag Protection Act of 1989 giving Congress the right to enact statutes criminalizing the burning or desecration of the flag in public protest.
However, the act was challenged in United States v. Eichman (1990). Again in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court struck down the 1989 act on the grounds that the government's interest in preserving the flag as a symbol did not outweigh an individual's First Amendment right to desecrate the flag in protest.
Although the First Amendment continues to protect freedom of speech, the interpretation of this freedom relentlessly fuels much debate, and efforts are still under way in Congress to criminalize flag burning, possibly through constitutional amendment.

The US Supreme Court said the Texas law was unconstitutional. If congress passed the same law, it would be the same result. The Constitution protects Feeedom of Speech from restriction by any government, not just state governments.

The remain in Mexico policy barely did anything... Through December 2019 it only sent 57K immigrants back to Mexico. The only reason Trump was able to close the border was Title 42 in 2020 during Covid. Biden actually has over double the amount of deportations than Trump did. What about those that have been here for years and have families, jobs, friends? What good does deporting them do?

So Trump was unable to reign in the Republican Senate and House to decrease spending? Sounds like an effective leader to me.

I'm really not lol I can't understand why you guys praise him so much when his record is so bad.

Usually you are rational. Not here.

Lets start with who Kamala is paired against:

Donald Trump never pays his debts if there is any possible way not to-he has left a trail of stiffed contractors and vendors that could stretch across the country.

He slept with a porn star right after his third wife had a child. He brags about sexually assaulting women and has been convicted about lying about the same.

In fact, he lies about everything to the point the defense is that "well you know he is lying so he is not really lying." This is a guy who used to promote himself to the social columns in a fake voice telling everyone what a stud he is.

His default method of discourse is to call people names.

He has a long history-dating back to the 1970's- of at least quasi-racist conduct. He redlined Blacks from his properties and stoked racial outrage over the Central Park 5. He argued that Mexican-American judges could not be fair to him because of his racist comments about Mexicans.

He has made up a fairy tale about how the 2020 election was stolen from him with zero evidence to back up his claim. When his efforts to bully the courts and state officials did not do the trick he rallied the troops. They got out of control. You can argue all day about wheter that was an insurrection or how much responsibility he bore for it but one thing is abundantly clear: when the United States Capitol was being ransacked he took hours to react because doing so would mean picking the nation's interests over his own.

You do not need to take my word for it-I saw a story yesterday that of the 42 people he selected to serve in cabinet-level postions, 21 of them oppose his re-election. Not on policy grounds, but becuase they beleive him unfit to hold the office.

Politics is often subjective but there is only one conclusion that any sentinent being can draw about Donald Trump's perosnal character-it is abysmal.

As to Kamala, lets start with your opening adjecitve: she is a "leftist." That has zero to do with character. Jesus was a leftist, Mother Theresa was a leftist, Eugene Debs was a leftist, Paul Robeson was a leftist, Louis Brandies, Thurgood Marsahll, and Earl Warren were leftists, Ralph Nader is a leftist, etc. Those are people of character. A person's political views do not define a person's character in any way, shape or form.

As to the "substance" the idea that Kamala "slept her way to the top" is just a misogynist lie. She dated Willie Brown for a couple of years. He appointe her to tow almost anonymous state commissions. So friggin what? I am unaware of the "morally questionable" character of otherswhoshe dated but the point is-you have not said that she did anything that would besmirch her character.

I am sure very few people on this board are buying what I am selling. That is because they long ago became immune to what a total catastrophe Donald Trump is as a person. The guy is everything we tell our children not to be and anyone who says different is lying to himself. If you are overwilling to overlook those flaws for policy reasons, that is your choice. But arguing that he has character anywhere near almost anybody in public life is empirically wrong. He is a unicorn of the black soul.
I am buying what you are selling. In fact, I am using it.

The US Supreme Court said the Texas law was unconstitutional. If congress passed the same law, it would be the same result. The Constitution protects Feeedom of Speech from restriction by any government, not just state governments.
Congress did try passing the same law and was also struck down by the Supreme Court see United States v Eichman. But yes you are correct, what a dumb point by RedBrick

You got made that Trump is pushing a flag protection law....red meat in an election year.

I guess you don't think politicians get to make campaign promises to fire up their voter base.

If such an Act was passed by Congress (doubtful) it would then be up to SCOTUS to determine its constitutionality.

No idea why you are hanging your hat on this issue to attack Trump
Will you admit you didn't do your research?

Because it's indicative of his continued disregard for the Constitution...you know, the things the President make their oath to protect?

Why aren't you bothered by it?

You are really desperate to come up with reasons to hate Trump....lol
Biden actually has over double the amount of deportations than Trump did. What about those that have been here for years and have families, jobs, friends? What good does deporting them do?

So Trump was unable to reign in the Republican Senate and House to decrease spending? Sounds like an effective leader to me.

I'm really not lol I can't understand why you guys praise him so much when his record is so bad.
1. That is most certainly a lie...Biden has not deported more people...we have seen this trick in figures play out before with the Feds.

https://cis.org/Feere/Fact-Check-Reuters-Wrong-Biden-Not-Deporting-More-Illegal-Aliens-Trump

[If this discussion sounds familiar, it's likely because this very issue was central to a debate over immigration numbers under the Obama administration, which conflated data on returns and removals in an attempt to give the appearance of a strong commitment to immigration enforcement (in order to justify an amnesty bill). Pro-amnesty media outlets helped spread the misinformation. It wasn't until the amnesty bill was dead that the Los Angeles Times admitted President Obama cooked the books in a piece titled, "High deportation figures are misleading".]

2. No one has been able to reign in the Congress on spending.

You think Nikki Haley or Kamala Harris would?

Again...you hate Trump...fine...but attack him for legitimate things.

Trump defamed a woman that accused him of sexually assaulting her.

Trump tried to override 80 million American voters with his unapproved elector scheme, and almost got his VP killed in the process.

Let's start with who Kamala is paired against:

That is how our system works....its not "a disregard for the Constitution" to follow the Constitutional process and petition Congress to pass a law.

You are starting from a biased premise...TRUMP IS A THREAT TO THE CONSTITUTION...and are now working back to try and find evidence that meets your faulty logic.

Must be the same stuff Snoop is using...

The humanization of Snoop? That's been fascinating to watch. Get his own show, and a catchphrase? maybe he runs in 8 years.

Saw him interviewed last week. Whatever you think of his policies, he will be an effective campaigner.

Also, on the personal character front the Democrats have it all over the GOP. Donald Trump is just a scum bucket of a human beong and JD Vance has demonstrated he has no personal convictions other than being for JD Vance. The Dems have picked a career prosecutor and a career teacher/football coach.
Dems could have selected Stalin to run as VP and you would have made this same nonsensical post.

It is completely sensible. You guys have picked just awful human beings to head your ticket. The attempts at false equivalency are lame and independent voters know it. You are going down in flames and have nobody to blame but yourselves.

Yesterday I might have agreed with you.

Especially as you Dems control 90% of the media.

But Harris just threw the Trump campaign a life preserver.

Thank you .

Why? He seems really midwestern to me. Looks like dudes we knew growing up. One wife good father type of dude.

He actually looks a bit like Joe Biden.

So, thanks!
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
