Conservative ideals tend toward building a robust economy with capitalism strengthened and natural cycles allowed to run. Liberal ideals tend to mooch off the robust economy and put quick and dirty patches on problems. Those patches also collapse harder and make things worse longer (see New Deal).

Price controls never work in a peacetime economy.

But Harris's constituents don't know that.

She is actually accusing grocers - who routinely operate on margins less than 2% - of "price gouging" and trying to scapegoat them for the inflation dementia Joe and her economic policies have directly caused. She is such a despicable liar.

Major chains like HEB and Walmart groceries are sold on a !-2% margin. Smaller neighborhood markets sell on a much higher margin. Believe it or not some people cant just hop in a car and drive 15 miles one way to enjoy the prices at large chains.

Government imposed price controls are not the answer, whether you are talking bread and eggs or cars and steel.

If you are staying, I would recommend bibles, bullion, beans, and bullets.

It is going to get that bad.

If we have a free trade policy toward others, but they don't have a free trade policy towards us, meaning we don't create tariffs, but they do…tell me how that's a good thing.

DG has a higher op mgn abt 5.5% but much lower asset turnover (1.28) = abt a 7% ROA.

KR has much higher asset turnover (3.0x) BUT lower mrgns (2%) = giving them a 6% ROA.

Neither one's ROA is terribly high......

I am advocating the restoration of free trade in which China backs off its constant tariffs and manipulation. If that can only be achieved by making it clear that we will equalize any tariff attempt, so be it.

While I generally agree about tariffs the answer is that no U.S. worker can compete with a 9 yr old Chinese worker.

How big of a role do you think 9 year olds play in the steel mills or the auto factories? The minimum age to work in China is 16. I know its a huge country but I have seen lots of nice schools. I find it puzzling that you think an American union auto worker cant compete with a 9 year old Chinese auto worker.

yeah, lets bring all the manufacturing back to the US. How does a $4,000 I phone suite ya? I have run very large factories in Asia and Mexico. I know all too well about labor rates. One thing I can tell you specifically in China is that it is NOT slave labor. Factory jobs in large outfits in China come with an hourly wage, free housing as dorms are provided with 3 squares a day. Those are highly sought after jobs there.
