David Sibley introduced me to George Bush when we were working on a bill to bring film projects to Texas.

GWB at the game today. What a nice guy. Met him again out close to my sister's place in Crawford. He is one of those guys that looks right at you, talks directly to you, and you feel like you were just invited to his house. Very personable. He was the presenter at my nephew's graduation class in Crawford, just after he was elected. About 19 graduating in that class. Probably the best student to POTUS rate in history

Met Jimmy Carter three times building Habitats for Humanity in Dallas. Thought he was going to be delightful. Not a nice guy at all. Snapped at people at all three builds.

BTW - Baylor Alum David Sibley was very, very powerful in our state Senate for a couple of decades. One very sharp cookie, and proud of the Bears. He could have gone on to national prominence when Bush won as David was one of his good friends. If I remember correctly, he showed him the Crawford property he eventually bought. George would have loved for him to come to DC.

I met both Bush's as we did some work on the vehicles for the ranch in Crawford. I met Carter on a plane. All 3 were nice.

Carter seemed *old* and this had to have been 20+ years ago now. I don't know what I expected of him but what I remember most is gonna be weird; he has super soft hands but a firm grip when he shook hands.

Met Carter several times over the many years. He lives about 10 miles from where I grew up.

The last time was 14 years ago. He was presenting me an age group trophy for the Plains Peanut Festival 5k. At some friends urging, I am wearing a cap with "Fire Pelosi" on it. I usually tell people the cap was why he presented me the trophy.

If Prime Minister for 18 years counts, I sat next to Sir Robert Gordon Menzies when he taught one session of my graduate government class at U of Va. He was Scholar in Residence in 1966-67. I was stunned by the amount of work that he put in to instruct our 11 person class for 3 hours.

Met GWB at a volunteer banquet in Crawford while he was president. Asked if we could take a goofy picture and he looked me straight in the eye and said no. Worth a shot. Laura thought it was funny.

Got to tour Marine One and Air Force One. Got to play with the Air Force One navigator in a golf tournament. He had great things to say about Bush, bad things to say about Gore. Most of the guys were going to retire before Obama came in as they didn't want to work with him.

On June 5, 1963, I was within 4 feet of both President Kennedy and VP LBJ at White Sands Missile Range:

They came in different helicopters and left in different helicopters, by different routes.

They were watching a missile being launched. (Doesn't look as if LBJ was watching.)

Shook hands with Ford in 1976 and Reagan in 1980 when they campaigned in Waco.

Met GHWB in about 1999 or 2000 when he was keynote speaker at a Salvvation Army luncheon in Houston.

Met GWB several times: speaking at the Dallas Rotary Club in 1988, North Houston Chamber in 1994, and at a townhall at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville in 2007. Have a picture of that one in my office.

Didn't meet him, but was standing across the street when Nixon came out of John Connally's funeral in Austin in 1993, about a year before he died.

And he wasn't president, but I would often follow James Baker in the barber's chair in downtown Houston in the late 90s.

I briefly met G.W. Bush, really just shook his hand and said hi, it was before one of his rallies. I remember he just seemed like a nice guy, and I was struck that he was just that, a nice guy.

I met Bush 41 at his presidential library shortly after the 2000 election. I remember distinctly telling him that I was happy we would have a real president again. W ended up being a big of a disappointment but he still was a lot better than the outgoing one.

I know this doesn't count because he was a former president at the time but it's all I have. I was present at the open ceremony of the Ferrell Center, a speech by President Reagan. I guess that counts too although I was only one of 10k students, faculty, etc.

I suppose this doesn't really count but, my brother and I were playing in a tennis tournament somewhere in Arlington around 1990. We ran over to grab something to eat near the Rangers Stadium/Six Flags mall area I forget exactly where, but that part of town.

We were worn out and sweating pretty good likely, it was really hot, we won the tournament by the way, but when we walked in the restaurant sitting there was Tom Grieve and GW Bush and they both smiled real big and said, hey guys, or something like that.

Now GW wasn't president or even Governor yet and I was actually much more impressed to say hi to Tom Grieve at the time, but technically I did say hello to a future president.

I know W fairly well. (good human) Funny story about W. Prolly 3 yrs ago , my son and another buddy were playing golf when a cart with 2 golfers and 2 dudes with suits rolled up and one of the suited gentlemen asked my son to play through, he said sure. W jumps out of the cart , walks on the T box and asked both of them whee they went to school and they wanted to do for a living and they told him. W, says "ok, boys, get yalls asses over here for a pic. Have the pic. The W. says, why don't you boys play the back nine with us? They did. W in no way needed to do that, but that is how nice and genuine is.
