I thought Dems said all health issues were between client and Health Practitioner.

I suppose not.

Unfortunately, CO is a very blue progressive Dumbocrat state. These morons attempted to take Trump off the ballot. Who's the threat to democracy?

Conversion therapy is rejected by all leading medical and psychological organizations, American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is harmful, unethical, and ineffective. It's like practicing medicine without a license.

These groups also support transgender surgeries (trying to change your biological sex which is impossible)

So take that for what its worth...many of these groups have become highly ideological

[In February 2024, the APA adopted a policy statement that supports gender-affirming care for transgender, gender-diverse, and nonbinary people. The statement also opposes policies and legislation that restrict access to care]

How can you support transgenderism (i.e. - 'transitioning') but be against conversion therapy? It seems like a conflict.

Blatantly unconstitutional. Hopefully the USSC will take the case.

Not if your priority is pushing social-cultural liberalism

Left:
Being gay is hard wired, you cannot change that!

Also left:
You want to change gender and cut off all your $ex organs- sure thing!!!

Correct. Because of states where evidenced-based, gender-affirming care is being obstructed, the APA adopted a policy for their commitment to the well-being of all people. So, to review, conversion therapy is bad and dismissed by professionals and gender of affirming care is good and supported by professionals.

So what is good and bad is just via the determination of the vaunted "professional" class

Could they be wrong?

Has the "professional" class every been wrong before and not followed common sense and instead gone off on an ideological tangent?

I hope everyone here will make an effort to become friends with folks in the queer community. Attend an LGBTQ+ affirming church and hear the gospel.

The real Gospel brings people out of a life of self harm and self destruction

It does not affirm us in being lost

I read the article too.

What they are rejecting is not conversion therapy, but a Licensed Professional having a protected
conversation with their client, when the client has a desire to speak about it.

Interesting take by the state of Colorado.

Ok to talk with them positively about or affirming transitioning, not ok to speak with the client
about their desire if they might not want to transition.

Either way a person needs to vent positively or negatively, one should not be excluded.

You cannot speak unless you are promoting the government position.

Silencing the opposition seems to be a common thread.

Also common is a reference to "settled science" as if that exists in a field (psychology) that covers so much we don't know yet, and is much less empirical as fields such as geology.

I hope folks in the queer community make an effort to protect children from impulsive decisions that can eventually result in self mutilation and suicide.

This is an obvious and blatant violation of the First Amendment, but that's nothing new for Colorado. They will get thumped again at SCOTUS.

Are we talking about the same organizations that used to call transgenderism a mental illness, and recommended psychotherapy to treat same?

LOL. I'd take ANYTHING these (political) organizations say with a golf-ball size grain of salt. Any psychiatrist who recommends encouraging youngsters to permanently mutilate themselves and remove apendages to help them feel a certain way is a ****ing quack.

In laws attend such a church, here in Austin. Presbyterian, and went woke a few years ago. We attend with them on occasion, and the church is basically dead at this point. Has some blue hairs who still attend, like my in laws, and a handful of homosexual and transgenders. Gospel isn't preached anymore - at least not the Gospel of Jesus and scripture. Been replaced with a message of "acceptance," pretending that the path to salvation isn't all that narrow.

A young lady down the street died last week from complications of anorexia nervosa. She was 68 lbs at her death.

I did my part to try and help her out. My last words to her were "dang girl, you ain't near as fat as you were."

lol- conversion therapy is helping people feel good in the body God gave them..

Gender affriming care is butchering the body and giving life altering hormones.

What a bullsht twist on reality

There is literally no such thing as gender affirming care. You can't affirm someone's mental illness.

You would never in a million years affirm someone with DID by saying "your delusions are real and the other people you think you are definitely exist".

You would never affirm an anorexic by saying "you're right, you should lose weight".

The current state whereby we pretend men can be women and vice versa is absurd. It's unconscionable that the first course of action for gender dysphoria isn't intense counseling for an obvious mental health crisis.

You can be transgender, that's ok, you're still valid as person…the same way someone struggling with severe depression or dementia is still a person. You may be more comfortable in women's clothes than men's and that's ok. You may get sexual pleasure from taking on a different gender role and that's ok. But you will never, ever be a woman if you were born a man…no matter how many body parts you remove.
