Hard to say. Most if the power brokers in the Democrat party are old Boomers (Clintons, Pelosi, Biden, Schumer) who may not even be around in 2028.

Who knows what a Democrat party led by the Obamas and Hakeem Jeffries would nominate though Shapiro and Newsome seem to be the obvious choices.

Walz is done.

Well, you read it so there's that. We gotta laugh when there's opportunity.

2028 hasn't happened yet. Can't celebrate what hasn't happened yet.

He could win back Governor in 2026.

On a national stage Dems would be idiots to run him again.

He seems pervy, his wife is an absolute nut, and comes across
as the Bride of Chucky.

They have no appeal.

How that clown won Governor shows the state of Minnesota politics.

He's done. The question is whether or not the D's take the bait on running another SOFP (Spouse-Of-a-Former-President) as a candidate. Didn't work out well for them last time.

I predict there will be a HUGE war between the Fetterman/Shapiro wing of the party and the overpowering hard-core lefties. I think the lefties win.

Shapiro Fetterman would be a formidable ticket.

A lot of R's are not dogmatic about abortion, but they are about common sense politicians.

Shapiro would have difficulty attracting 70% of the black vote and even 50% of the Hispanic vote.

No presidential candidate is going to choose his running mate from the same state.

Also, it's highly questionable that either Pennsylvanian has broad national appeal.

^^^This^^^

"Questionable" might be too strong of a word, but it's on point = the national stage is a really, really big leap. So many look formidable as they're lining up to run, but most fade in the glare of the lights. DeSantis looked like the obvious choice to so many. So did JEB! etc........

I'd expect Dems to seek someone they think has blue-collar appeal in the blue wall states. Shapiro and Fetterman are in that class. So is Whitmer. Walz will take a hard look at it, and has a leg up in that he's got all the fundraising lists and a billion or two dollars worth of exposure already. Andy Beshear will get some buzz - very successful Democrat from a solid red state. WJC-esque profile. Jared Polis should, too. He's quietly competent and will have some appeal to the identitarian crowd, IF he wants it, which it's not clear he does.

Their bench is not deep and there will be a titanic struggle between the Obama progressives and the Clintonista traditionalists but whoever they pick will get a LOT of favorable earned media in the legacy media-sphere. The progressives are the critical mass of the party, though, so I'd give them the edge.

I'd expect a dozen candidates on the stage for the Dems. Vance will have a smaller field to contend with.
