VW fully embraced the electric car transition, did a poor job of it, and lost its market share.

Mercedes has been on a steady downhill slide since the mid to late 1990s.

In general you see far fewer German cars on the road than you did in the past.

If I was in the market for a reliable, affordable car today, I would probably get a Mazda CX-50 S Select (no turbo, no CVT, no timing belt). For a luxury car, Lexus has been the default for a while. Performance, a Tesla Model S.

Nothing German would be on the list.

German friend who works in auto industry in Germany said the only true German manufacturer car left is Porsche. The rest are just European which is the same level as US and below Japanese. Watch the South Koreans, Hyundai and Genesis are high quality and customer friendly. My next sedan will be a Genesis. US still does pick up better.

Maybe your Hyundai will be built in Savannah, GA. They're building a huge plant there and the Savannah metro is starting to grow due to the port and access to i95.

I am going to Germany for spring break in April and I havent been there since the late 90s so I will report back on how things are.

I was there in 2021 on a work trip. .It was nice. I love Germany to visit. Stayed in Munich, Mainz, and Hamburg. I could visit the Koln Cathedral once a year. Although, Vienna was better....

Based on our discussions, you would love Rhine. Mosel great wines, good food and very picturesque. Munich is must see. Hilton on English Garden is outstanding.

Hopefully it is better than the comparison between London and it's mid 1980s self last year. But I doubt it.

Well, London is something like 30% White British(acutal British) so i would bet that Germany is still going to be a lot better off than that.

There is also there is this little outfit in Germany called Siemens. Rev up 10%, Profitability in the latest Quarter was $8.3B net profit.
You should get your next beeper from them instead of that other outfit LOL.
obviously, you have absolutely no idea what u r talking about, per the usual. Certainly, you don't understand what they do. Leading medical device manufacturers in the world. Bigger and better than Honeywell. Beeper huh?

basically IBM and GE rolled into one.............

- KKM

Go Bears!

yes, correct, but they design amazing products. I'd know. We used to build a lot of GE and Siemens equipment (all verticals).
I've been out of telecom sales for many years, but I sold Siemens PBX switching equipment for several years,,You are correct in that they designed amazing products..I've no idea the current level of quality, but I understand their medical device segemnt is currently their most profitable..and runs close to Medtronic in sales volume..

Siemens is a great company, I worked with them on connected technology. I enjoyed working with them as they were a mix of creative and efficient. They are huge in the rail industry as well.

The German Conservative Party seems to be following the playbook of the stories in the UK. It's quite possible they will share the same fate. It depends on how Nazi they are willing to go to prevent the opposition to run against them in upcoming elections. Hopefully, the German people will wake up to reality before it's too late. If it isn't already too late.

A lot of fake conservative parties in Europe who run on immigration restriction....but then govern Leftist when in power and open up the flood gates

Germany is going down. It's past the point of no return. They will likely need a war to deal with their population issues and culture drain and economy. Can their economy get back on track without a war, hard to say. But if their quality of life is reduced greatly and your freedoms are taken, does the economy matter as much? Every year, the citizens are more and more merely subjects of the progressive Fuhers.

Is Germany bringing back the Gestapo or is this a revival of the Stasi? Hint: they were pretty much the same thing. Secret police to terrorize the people & keep them in line.

Bigger question: how long will it take for the Germans to reopen concentration camps?
