The issue is more the abuse and his policies, as well as some of his history. Telling his troops to ignore Rules of Engagement is not something you want to see from SecDef. That is problematic, also his position on JAG Officers there to keep him out of jail (DeSantis filled that role in the Navy).

He is one I am not on board with for the position. He is more qualified to be Press Secretary than SecDef.
