OMG, history is repeating itself. Can we get a President younger than 90???
Trump's knee never touched the ground! Looks like a touchdown to me! Hope Trump goes for two.
Touche. The bar has certainly lowered, at least for Donald. He can't do anything wrong.

A. It is an open secrete that the Mexican president is a puppet of the drug cartels. As was her predecessor.

B. Mexico is a narco state and the single biggest; most immediate threat to US national security and to the American people.

C. Cancun all inclusive resorts do not represent what Mexico has become in the slightest. They are a fantasy. The real Mexico is incredibly violent , corrupt and polluted.

D. Trump would have my support in totally closing the southern border until a semblance of order can be restored.

The democrats just can't help themselves. It's like they WANT to be on the wrong side of the public on every issue.

I think what's actually happened is that the party really thinks the 5% lunatic fringe is the mainstream. It's not.

We've never had a sitting president celebrate his 90th birthday while in office.

Also, for Trump this is a one off event. With Biden it was repeated multiple times, not to mention getting lost in his closet, shaking hands with ghosts, babbling incoherently almost every day, etc. We have no reason to be concerned about Trump unless it happens again and again.

Lastly, apparently it was a windy day. Rubio also stumbled a little and he's a young man.

It was a joke... I know he is not 90 and doesn't have a history of falling. Just trying to be objective here as we make fun of the others that fell.

How many of those "protestors" are US citizens? How many are foreign agents? The answers might surprise us.

Regardless, they are in the wrong side of the issue and the wrong side of history. Trump sending in the National Guard was precisely east needed to be done. Gov "hair gel" Newsom whining about it is the proof. Along with reports that the rioters have backed off.

True

Another unpleasant reality regarding Mexico is the slaughter of their women.

Even back in the 90's there were mass murderers killing Mexican women by the scores.

Juraez alone had hundreds of unsolved murderes regarding women. The thought was the killer(s) were most likely police.

However our yuppies really are determined to ignore current realities. They just want to go to Mexican beaches. get hammered and play around.

Then they are stunned when they are robbed or beaten.

Only to find out after the fact that such activities are common.

C is really not true. As a former part time resident of Mexico there are defiantly narco controlled areas. however There are great places in Mexico...Mexico City, Oaxaca , San Miguel de Allende, Merida ect. I'd submit that Cancun and the all inclusive beach places are nothing but US Trash. Those places and clientele are just yuk.

I used to love Cozumel. Havent been there since the early 90s though. Got most of my PADI certifications there at Blue Angel Dive School. My guess is that time has changed it a lot.

Used to love Grand Cayman and Little Cayman too. Seven Mile Beach had the whitest sand in the Caribbean. Dove a lot there too, plus off Bloody Bay in LC. From what I understand, GC has become simply a tourist haven. Very little of the charm left of the native places to go

Last time there was in 80's. Loved the water and just the whole island thing being from FL. But, with all the news and crap in Mexico I have stayed away.

No doubt you are correct, there are safer , really beautiful areas .

But the Mexican federal government is dominated by the drug cartels.

And as such Mexico is a security threat to the United Stars.

Cozumel is still very nice. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

The first time we went was in the mid 90s. We've also been back in 2019 and 2023.

It has a much more chill and non-touristy vibe than Cancun. If you are a diver it has unbelievable diving spots.

Looks like great memories.

We got scuba certified in Dallas before our trip. Palancar Reef in Cozumel was our first real dive. It was mind blowing.

From ABC News:

In a statement Saturday, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons faulted local officials, including LA Mayor Karen Bass, and police for their response to the situation on Friday evening.
"What took place in Los Angeles yesterday was appalling," Lyons said. "As rioters attacked federal ICE and law enforcement officers on the LA streets, Mayor Bass took the side of chaos and lawlessness over law enforcement."
Lyons' statement went on to say: "Our brave officers were vastly outnumbered, as over 1,000 rioters surrounded and attacked a federal building. It took over two hours for the Los Angeles Police Department to respond, despite being called multiple times. The brave men and women of ICE were in Los Angeles arresting criminal illegal aliens including gang members, drug traffickers and those with a history of assault, cruelty to children, domestic violence, robbery, and smuggling.
The LAPD issued a statement later on Saturday denying the ICE director's claims, saying its response was delayed, in part, because federal authorities had deployed chemical irritants into the crowd of protesters.
"Contrary to the claim that LAPD delayed its response for over two hours, our personnel mobilized and acted as swiftly as conditions safely allowed," the statement said. "Our response time was impacted by significant traffic congestion, the presence of demonstrators, and, notably, by the fact that federal agents had deployed irritants into the crowd prior to LAPD's arrival. This created a hazardous environment for responding officers. Within 55 minutes of receiving the call, we began to disperse the hostile and riotous crowd."

The LAPD reply sounds like they did slow walk their response. It isn't plausible LAPD doesn't have riot gear with protection for irritants.

Couldn't throwing a rock or brick or molotov cocktail be considered attack with a deadly weapon.

I guess lethal force is not authorized. Capitol police seemed to be authorized to shoot to kill on the Jan 6 Fedsurection.

Not in this case.

The National Guard is being used to protect federal property. They can have further authority if the domestic disturbances continue to inhibit the execution of federal law.

Courts have historically ruled this does not apply to the Navy or Marines

If civilians engage in hostile activities they are an unlawful combatant and lose their protection from attack.

FTR I think it's a TERRIBLE look and decision to use the military in this situation but when the state of California is openly saying "I'm not going to follow the laws of the land" I'm not sure what other options are available.
