Not yet 12 months in and the report card looks like this:
Hamas destroyed.
Hizballah destroyed.
Houthis almost destroyed.
Syria colllapsed.
Lebanon stablized (destruction of Hizballah).
Iranian nukes gone.
Iranian regime on the ropes.
Venezuela surrounded by blocade.
Venezuela leadership decapitated.

Q: How many pairs of boots on the ground were required to accomplish all that?
A: A 1-digit number.

And neverTrumpers are STILL *****ing about all of it.

Oh good a power vacuum in the ME. No idea how this one plays out. Probably worse people definitely won't come to power. Probably.

Fall of the mullah regime could significantly complicate US policy structure in the ME. Fear of Iran/Shiites is the glue that holds current policy together. Nothing new about Arab/Sunni wariness of Persian/Shiite influences, but an islamist Iranian regime with nukes is a prospect so terrifying that Sunni regimes are willing to ally with the devil itself (Israel) for protection. Put in place a secular Iranian regime which engages with Western powers and.....well......we're gonna need a different adhesive.

Not saying it cannot be done. Just saying some "transition" to new structures would be necessary, which would of course carry higher risk of destabilization than we currently face.

It is a vastly better situation, the people protesting, than us creating the power vacuum. And I would not really call it a power vacuum. The people have power in all countries, they just rarely choose to use it. Hopefully a more democratic and moderate government eventually takes shape in Iran.

Sanctions working. It took a long time, but they worked.

Giving Trump credit for this is stupid. This is the work of several admins and sessions of Congress.

A lot of work to get back to where Iran was before we helped assassinate its elected leader and install religious fanaticism.

Just because the people rebel does not mean it will be a better situation. And I cannot take seriously anyone that thinks regime change in that region doesn't create a power vacuum. It's only happened 100% of the time. I suppose it's possible this could be the first time it doesn't but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Makes me wonder if a portion of the military secretly told their families/friends that they would not obey orders to shoot protesters and that information has spread.

Or if they told them something like we won't shoot and we will join you once it has gone on for X days, in X number of cities, etc.

Seems like the military has to be doing/thinking something like that and even some of them want change.

Sanctions and a whole generation that has now grown up with internet access (even while limited) and been able to see how much of the rest of the world is and they want that.

Excellent post.

No president in US history has accomplished more….so quickly.

But many folks simply cannot put their ego aside long enough to admit out loud that they were wrong about Trump.

We will see what happens. I don't think regime change will happen. Too many interested parties will need Iran to keep its place in thr geopolitical landscape. If it does happen, I expect Iran to almost instantly be more friendly towards the West

They are going to make Hunter's brief stint with Ukranian energy look like child's play. Trump will absolutely personally benefit from this. Nation building not just to keep the military industrial complex happy, but for personal wealth of the President.
