Minnesota woman pleads guilty to stealing millions through Feeding our Future fraud

A Minneapolis woman has pleaded guilty to laundering more than $1 million in federal funds she stole as part of the sprawling Feeding Our Future fraud scheme that exploited a pandemic-era child nutrition program, federal prosecutors said.

Najmo Ahmed, 35, admitted Wednesday that she falsified records and routed illicit proceeds through her personal bank accounts while helping operate Evergreen Grocery and Deli in Minneapolis with her husband, according to the Justice Department. Together, they stole millions of dollars in federal funding through the scheme, prosecutors said.

Federal prosecutors said the couple enrolled the small storefront in the Federal Child Nutrition Program in April 2020 under the sponsorship of Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit organization at the center of what authorities have described as a $250 million fraud scheme targeting COVID-19 relief funds meant to feed children, which authorities first began investigating during the Biden administration.

According to court documents, Ahmed signed falsified meal count sheets claiming the site served thousands of meals that were never provided. One report dated Dec. 31, 2020, asserted Evergreen Grocery and Deli served 3,250 children twice a day during a single week. Between April 2020 and April 2021, the site claimed to have distributed more than 1.4 million meals.

Those fraudulent claims generated more than $4.2 million in payments from Feeding Our Future, prosecutors said.

Authorities said her husband, Said Ereg, transferred funds from business accounts into personal accounts held by himself and Ahmed, who knew the money represented proceeds of illegal activity. Ahmed then moved at least $1,147,348 to foreign textile and trading companies, including Shaoxing Aifan Textile Co., and spent additional funds on personal luxury purchases from brands such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Canada Goose.

In total, Ahmed laundered $1,381,048 in federal child nutrition funds through her personal accounts, according to prosecutors.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick said the guilty plea marks another conviction tied to the massive fraud investigation, which has charged dozens of defendants accused of exploiting programs designed to help children during the pandemic.

Ahmed pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota before Judge Nancy Brasel, an appointee of President Donald Trump. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

Great!
A lot more work to do on this, and not just in Minnesota.

The former head of a San Francisco homelessness services nonprofit is facing nine felony charges after prosecutors say she secretly paid herself more than $850,000 in unauthorized salary and diverted at least $1.2 million in public funds for personal use including luxury vehicles, jewelry, and high-end shopping sprees.

Gwendolyn Westbrook, 71, the former chief executive of the United Council of Human Services (UCHS), appeared in court Tuesday (February 24) on charges that include misappropriation of public funds, grand theft, presenting false invoices, and filing false California state tax returns. She did not enter a plea and declined to comment.

The San Francisco District Attorney's Office alleges that between 2019 and 2023, Westbrook used her near-exclusive control over the nonprofit's bank accounts to enrich herself while UCHS held nearly $28 million in city contracts to house and support homeless people.

Prosecutors say Westbrook collected two separate streams of unauthorized pay. First, she allegedly received approximately $467,000 through an unusual arrangement involving UCHS's fiscal sponsor, Heluna Health, which deposited funds into the nonprofit's account that Westbrook then transferred to herself. On top of that, she paid herself at least $387,000 in salary checks that no other staff member or board representative co-signed payments investigators described as "totally undocumented" and unaudited.

Westbrook withdrew approximately $2.9 million in cash from UCHS accounts over the four-year period. Investigators say at least $897,000 of those withdrawals was deposited into her personal bank accounts, while roughly $1.4 million simply "went missing."

A review of Westbrook's personal bank records revealed repeated purchases far beyond what her stated salary could support, including transactions at Louis Vuitton and Neiman Marcus, mortgage and college tuition payments, and more than $100,000 over three years at a Concord jewelry store owned by two of the nonprofit's own board members including its treasurer.

A 2023 lawsuit filed by a former UCHS employee had earlier alleged that Westbrook told staff she had purchased a Tesla for herself, a Jeep Renegade for a close family friend, two vehicles for cousins, and gave an Infiniti SUV to a niece.

That's pretty accurate "The Biden Hole". If Kamala had won, any clue on how deep a hole the socialists would have put us in?

what exactly is the "Biden Hole"?

The Biden administration (20212025) left a significant monetary legacy characterized by high inflation, with prices rising nearly 20%, and a federal debt reaching roughly 121% of the gross national product. Critics highlight a $1.8 trillion annual deficit by late 2024, driven by increased spending, while interest on the debt surpassed pre-pandemic levels

As of early 2026, the second Trump administration is focusing on boosting private-sector employment, reducing the federal bureaucracy, and promoting American-born workforce participation. Early data indicates significant growth in private-sector jobs, while overall job growth has been described as "lackluster" due to a contracting federal workforce and rising unemployment rates, with 359,000 jobs added from Feb. 2025 to Jan. 2026.

This happens for every deployment of military personnel. Whether a normal length or extended. Every branch.
Untrue. You must not have read the details.

It absolutely is true. Military personnel on deployment miss things all the time and have for decades.
Of course they do. I thought you were saying the deployment extension happens for every deployment and branch.

Those often happen too. Maybe not to every member of the military but it does happen in every branch of the military.

A federal judge on Thursday denied a legal challenge to President Donald Trump's White House ballroom project, clearing the way for construction on the estimated $400 million expansion to proceed.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon denied the injunction sought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, saying the group was unlikely to succeed on the merits. The group sued the Trump administration in December to halt construction, arguing it skipped required reviews and failed to obtain congressional approval before demolishing the East Wing of the White House.

In his order, Leon wrote that the preservation group relied on a "ragtag group of theories" under the Administrative Procedure Act and the Constitution.

He wrote that the challenge failed because "the White House office in question is not an agency" under the APA and because the plaintiff did not bring what was needed to challenge the president's statutory authority to complete the project with private funds and without congressional approval.

Trump celebrated the decision on Truth Social, saying the ballroom would be entirely funded by private donors.

"Great news for America, and our wonderful White House! The Judge on the case of what will be the most beautiful Ballroom anywhere in the World, has just thrown out, and completely erased, the effort to stop its construction," Trump said. "As everyone knows, not one dollar of Taxpayer money is being spent, but rather, all money necessary to build this magnificent building is being put up by Patriot Donors and Contributors."

Trump said construction on the 90,000-square-foot ballroom which he said could host inauguration events and state dinners is "ahead of schedule and under budget."

Billions of dollars of fraud occurred under Tim Walz's watch, and now it turns out that autism centers did not even require licensing and that state officials were not allowed to conduct unannounced inspections.

The question now is whether Tim and other Minnesota officials were simply ignorant of what was happening, or whether they actively supported, enabled, or even participated in this fraud of epic proportions.

Money tied to Minnesota's Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program surged from about $1.7 million in Medicaid reimbursements in 2017 to nearly $229 million in 2024 through late November, with cumulative spending approaching $700 million. That amounts to roughly a 300-fold increase in less than a decade, or about a 30,000 percent rise. While officials cite expanded autism diagnoses and broader access to services, the scale and speed of the increase have raised serious concerns.

Critics argue that a significant portion of this explosion in spending reflects fraud and lax oversight, noting that the growth occurred under Democratic governors. They contend that unchecked fraud drives long-term spending obligations higher, ultimately pressuring the state to raise taxes.
