A K-9 sniffed out 32 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning, according to the Selma Police Department.
The 38-year-old man, who has not been identified, has been charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, over 400 grams. He has since been booked into the Guadalupe County jail, police said in a Facebook post.

The incident began after officers pulled over a semi-truck driver hauling a trailer in the 16000 block of Interstate 35 in Selma on Tuesday, police said.
During the stop, the driver gave officers "conflicting information and became increasingly nervous." K-9 Maverick was then called in as backup.
The K-9 didn't take long to alert officers to the presence of drugs. A search of the semi-truck and trailer then occurred.
Officers then found four bundles wrapped in black trash bags inside the cab of the truck, police said. Each bag contained a hollowed-out tractor battery that had been used to conceal wrapped packages.
A field test of the packages revealed that the man was driving with over 32 kilos of cocaine.

It's official: Beyonc is on the Forbes World Billionaires List.
The Houston icon entered the informal club late last year, according to the magazine, and now appears for the first time on the annual ranking, released Tuesday. Beyonc Knowles-Carter ranks No. 3,332 on the list of the world's wealthiest people as of 2026, according to Forbes, with a real-time net worth of $1 billion.
Beyonc is one of 400 newcomers to this year's list, Forbes noted, which now includes a record 3,428 entrepreneurs, investors and heirs.
Houstonians may be familiar with another newcomer, energy trader Ignacio Torras. Originally from Barcelona, Torras founded Houston-based chemical maker and distributor Tricon Energy in 1996. He is also the owner of BCN Taste & Tradition in Montrose and the founder of the Genuine Cup, a soccer tournament for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities which held its first event at Rice University in 2024. Torras joins this year's list at No. 2,600, with a net worth of $1.5 billion.
Seventeen Houston billionaires return to this year's list, with Richard and Nancy Kinder ranking as the wealthiest among them. Kinder, chair of pipeline giant Kinder Morgan, comes in at No. 232 this year, Forbes said, with a net worth of $13 billion. 1) Government waste and abuse... a lot of people make a lot of money stealing from the tax payer. Cut the size of government and the wealth gap will close
2) Tax Fraud... make sure everyone is paying what they are suppose to. I always feel like a sucker paying my taxes because I know there are millions of people out there cheating the system or hiding their money overseas or under several dozen shell corporations
3) Tax capital gains at the same rate as income

Agree on #1. The problem is so many in government profit from that waste, they will work hard to prevent that pig-feeding from ending.

What this doesn't show is how these ultra rich are wealthy than the original robber barons. The gap between them and the middle class or poor is even larger than it was with them.
Now with that said I am not calling for any sort of money grab or anything like that. But a focus does have to be placed on that gap and divide to address it. Sort of the way it was back then. Perhaps laws that help even it out like happened back then. Or getting more of the ultra rich to donate as much as some of the RBs did. Many of their original investments in various funds are still flourishing and being used for more donations.
I don't know what the answer is but I do know if something isn't done to attempt to fix it the masses will come screaming for action until action is taken.
I tend to agree with all three points. However Your normal apparently applies to 62% of U.S. adults who invest in stocks including mutual and retirement funds. While a majority are invested, ownership is heavily skewed by income, with the top 10% holding 87% of all stock. To me the bottom line is that there needs to be a number of approaches if the federal debt has a chance of being significantly reduced. I don't see us as a nation to have the political will to do it.

Tie the max payments of CEOs in some way to the income of their employees. Say you have a huge year. The CEO should get a bonus, sure, but give everyone else nothing? Of course it is a massive slippery slope. Once you let voters weigh in on it, they will want the CEOs to be paid much less than I would think is fair. The tyranny of the majority.
Another way is some form of accountability, where say a CEO is normally taking home 25x the average employee, but suddenly is slated to get 250x the average employee, triggers some sort of external review where they have to justify it.
I am also in favor of more tax brackets. Bringing home $3m is not the same as bringing home $3bn.
My last idea is to copy what other countries do that works. Like Germany. Tax automation so that when jobs are lost to automation, the government pays to retrain factory workers for new fields. Same with AI.
