Yet another member of a family within Minnesota's Somali community is expected to plead guilty Thursday in the massive fraud scandal that has drawn national attention and prompted criticism of Attorney General Keith Ellison over a meeting he held with members of the family in question.

Gandi Mohamed, 45, is expected to either plead guilty at a change of plea hearing scheduled for Thursday or choose to enter a plea of no contest, which would allow him to accept conviction and be sentenced without admitting guilt, according to court records.

Mohamed is the sixth member of his family who would be pleading guilty in the scheme prosecutors say fraudulently claimed to be serving meals while instead pocketing $14 million from the federal child nutrition program, Fox 9 Minneapolis reported.

Center of the American Experiment policy fellow Bill Glahn told Fox News Digital that "it's good that he and his co-conspirators have all been convicted in the case, however, a courtroom trial would have been a useful exercise to show the public the scope and scale of the fraud."

Not trying to sound rude towards you but rather towards Trump.

This to me seems as a case of an idiot cutting something he thinks is useless but actually does valuable jobs. Unless those jobs are rolled into another department it will create problems.

The US Forest Service fights forest fires. Most of the firefighters that go to these fires are forest Service employees. Same for the planes and helicopters dropping water.

They maintain trails and parks.

They manage the timber being cut, replanted, etc.

Law enforcement on federal land (national forests, grassland).

Work with states on preventing fires.

So to just cut this department without rolling the jobs into another agency is stupid.

Yes. It's a vital part of government services. Hopefully the plan is to add them to something else.

They need to pay for the bloated defense budget that was raised to $1 trillion last year and is getting re-raised to $1.5 trillion next year... I cant even begin to imagine all the fraud and abuse that goes on in the Defense Department. They havent been able to pass an audit in over a decade....

We can start by banning sites like Kalshi which are quite clearly not what they purport to be. OTOH, if you're open about what you're "selling" and people want to buy that's up them. Not up to the nanny state.

They will never, ever pass an audit. There are parts of defense spending that cannot be audited. They can be added as some form of expense line but you can't exactly say "top secret project #1" in an audit…sort of it's very nature lol.

There was a Tucker episode that talked about a mechanism that used to exist to account for money used for classified stuff... but the CIA Deep State shut it down to remove the last vestiges of accountability.

I support cutting the Defense budget in half all the way down to a paltry $500 billion a year.

That is the only avenue left to reign these *******s in.

This bill is incomplete. IT needs to go beyond sports gambling.

There are sites where you can bet on ANYTHING.

Who will win sports, award shows, end date of wars, will criminals be caught, even politics. These sites have taken anything where you can bet on an outcome and created a way for people to bet on them.

China is winning is what he is saying. While we are fighting to stay in 1965, they are building for 2065. See the Honda CEO on Chinese competition. There are numerous signs we need to move into the future, not get caught in oil wars. Too much time, resources and political clout have been wasted on these things. Green New Deal was too much, but Trumps fixation on recreating post-WW2 and threatening everyone is just as bad it will be felt in 5 years.

Well, I know I will get skewered for this... But, its Friday and a few beers are less than 12 hours away...

This is a good YouTube by Christie on what is happening in the White House with Trump. It is not slamming Trump, just explaining the differences from Term 1 to Term 2.

I agree 100% with him and see the same problem he sees - Donald doesn't have anyone around him to keep him on the rails, as much as they all hated each other he misses Kelly, Mattis, Barr, Pompeo, etc to tell him when he was going too far.

Don't think in terms of just Chinese branded cars, but materials, parts and systems that make up cars.

Who is the man in the lower picture?

President of El Sav

I'm sorry, I believe the term you're looking for is elected dictator…

To his credit he has cleaned up the streets. If only we didn't have due process here and you could just round up anyone you thought was a bad actor and throw them in jail never to be heard from again…or something like that.

If only...

I think we are wishing for different things. I prefer to not live in that sort of dictatorship

Me too. The individual still has to mean more than the State. The individual is the ultimate unit of political sovereignty. Government is here to support the individual rights. Presidents that are all powerful, work against that.

I would prefer 100 guilty men walk free than 1 innocent man be imprisoned.

I admire the results he's gotten but you can't ignore how he got them.

I wouldn't admire the results too much. Trading due process for security is a fool's bargain. You still end up with predators roaming the streets. The only difference is that they're wearing uniforms and badges.

Thank you. That makes sense. I didn't think of it that way but should have.

I know the last several times I have worked on our vehicles I have seen the examples of this. Cheap parts available on Amazon, ebay autos, or other sites but they are poor quality, have bad reviews, no name brands, etc.

Sounds like it is the early Walmart situation again. For those of us old enough to remember how stuff at Walmart in the 1990s was cheaper but usually was crap. There was a reason the TV at Walmart was a few hundred dollars cheaper. IT was going to break in 5 years while the "expensive" (normal priced) one at Best Buy or other electronics store would last much longer.

And it isn't just car parts. It is all over Amazon. Cheap products that you have to read the reviews to find out it isn't good. Or even worse have to carefully look at the name of the product to see that the pictures show the actual real product because they stole the real brand product pictures to use but are selling a knock off version.
