Possibly influenced by Lindsay Clancy and the way she has been lionized by freaks on the Left. More important, western culture has spect decades telling women they have a right to kill their children in the womb for any reason. It's still legal in the US and most (all?) of Western Europe.

A society that legitimizes and glorified murder will get more of it.

Or we could, you know, treat mental illness.

Think of the problems that could be solved... If we actually had programs to treat the mentally ill.

But, it is better to crow of personal responsibility to make yourself feel good,

It is pretty incredible, both with mental health and also with things like pregnancy and child rearing, the conservative right will scream about abortion (while completely ignoring the huge uptick in women having serious life threatening complications or dying because they cannot have unviable pregnancies terminated any longer in Texas if there is still the slightest heart beat - mind you, a heart that will never beat outside of the mothers womb) but fight against any program or reasonable policy that would actually help women and families after a child is born (snap cuts, guaranteed maternity leave, etc.) and then blame young people for not having kids or mothers for struggling.

The greatest tragedy of post-roe America isn't that abortion was legal, it was that the country, and especially the churches, did nothing to make it unnecessary.

That is a point that you seldom here discussed. Most on here would agree that abortion is wrong, but they also seem unwilling to take steps to stop the pregnancy with education. Everything seems to come down to making the choice to restrain, with little regard that a vast majority won't. Leaving a mess, but a lot of opportunities to prop themselves up as superior... How many times on various issues have your heard - "I did it, so..." Student debt, sex/pregnancy/finances/health care/retirement/home buying... It is endless. I am guilty on the home buying, I joined right in that we did it...

That is why I love this site, allows self-reflection after seeing positions spelled out and going am I with that group???

Bingo.

Don't teach sex ed, but then condemn a 15 year old girl as a **** when she gets pregnant (and ignore completely that there was another party involved).

But don't offer any assistance with child care or food so she could finish high school and have a chance. Then she is just a freeloading ingrate who needs to work harder and pull herself up by her boot straps.

There are multiple threads on this forum that essentially chalk bad (and criminal, in some cases) sexual behavior by men up as "boys will be boys", but the same people will be the first to condemn the woman on the other side if she cannot deal with the fall out in the specific way they deem acceptable or proper. It's a version of evangelical conservative hypocrisy that only makes sense if you accept that, at their core, many such advocates hate, or at least have a level of distain for, women generally.

Well, after going to Saudi, sharing an office with a Moslem and growing up in Jewish NY I have come to the conclusion that the US is a psuedo-theocracy. We have many laws based on Puritan views of a Cotton Mather age.

I agree there is a double standard, has always been, I am not as sure it is sex based as money based. A poor boy from the other side of the tracks ends messes around with a rich girl and see who's life is wrecked. Men have traditionally held the money and power, so...

A neighbor of the Dominican Republic native Oscar Belgal, who was recently shot by ICE, alleged the man had once terrorized the Washington Heights apartment with a machete.

Oscar Belgal's former neighbor recalls alleged machete attack

On October 8, two ICE agents in plain clothes approached the front left side of a gray Honda CR-V Belgal was driving.

Marcos Charles, who heads ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations division, said the officers shot Belgal in the neck out of self-defense when he "accelerated" and "smashed" into two of the agents.

CCTV footage did not confirm Belgal's alleged attack on the officers.

The victim's five-year-old was reportedly in the backseat of the vehicle at the time he was shot, Front Page Detectives has learned.

A former neighbor of Belgal who refused to be named called the 28-year-old a "menace to society," the New York Post reported.

"I spoke to him once and told him, 'Look, you need to be more submissive because I see you acting too reckless.' He thought he was a tough guy," the resident added.

The unnamed neighbor also recounted an alleged attack where Belgal armed himself with a machete and charged at another neighbor's nephew just outside the building but there were no recorded major injuries.

Ilhan Omar's home raided by federal agents in pre-dawn swoop as Trump administration probes Somali-born congresswoman's immigration papers

By PHILLIP NIETO, US POLITICAL REPORTER

Published: 08:06 EDT, 12 October 2026 | Updated: 08:45 EDT, 12 October 2026

Federal agents swooped on the Washington home of Ilhan Omar early on Monday in a criminal fraud probe into how the congresswoman got into America.

Homeland Security Investigations carried out the raid, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.

'Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,' a DOJ spokesperson told the outlet.

'This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,' the spokesperson added.

Homeland Security, under the leadership of Markwayne Mullin, are zeroing in on immigration paperwork the Somali-born Democrat's late father filled out on her behalf when she was a child.

The raid is a major escalation of a case border czar Tom Homan first revealed in mid-September.

Pressed on whether Omar was under investigation, Homan refused to discuss specifics, but warned: 'No one's above the law.' He also declined to rule out stripping her of her American citizenship.

Days earlier, Mullin said the probe reached beyond her disputed 2009 marriage and warned that removal actions could follow if wrongdoing is proven. Omar has long faced claims that she married her own brother to get him into the country.

US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle speaks during a dedication ceremony at the chancery of the US

Embassy in Athens, on October 7. Mark Schiefelbein/AFP/Pool/Getty Images

President Donald Trump is weighing whether to dismiss Kimberly Guilfoyle from her position as US ambassador to Greece after a string of reports about misconduct, a person familiar with the matter said Sunday.

Trump has been monitoring reports claiming Guilfoyle, who was engaged to Trump's eldest son Donald Trump Jr. for four years, accepted lavish gifts as ambassador and sought money in exchange for providing access to administration figures before she was confirmed.

Lawyers for Guilfoyle have denied the allegations about seeking money and said reports about her travel were misleading, adding that she complied with federal gift and reporting requirements.

The reports have irked senior admin. officials, particularly since they emerged when Secretary of State Marco Rubio was visiting Athens for a high-profile speech on Western democracy delivered from the Acropolis.

Trump is expected to decide soon whether to fire Guilfoyle, the person said. The president offered no defense of Guilfoyle when questioned by CNN about the allegations Friday.

"I just heard about it. Too bad. I mean, I don't know," Trump said. "I just heard a little bit about it. I don't know too much, but she was always very nice."

CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.

Eric Deters, a former Trump donor, said Guilfoyle asked him in a text message to wire her $100,000 to pay off an American Express card in the days before her Senate confirmation. Deters ultimately did not wire Guilfoyle the money, saying he didn't have the liquid assets at the time.

True, and I'm all for doing that. But the definitive answer is the new birth. Not a new church or exchanging one religion for another.
