How to create a public health disaster?

Easy! Low fat diet, low protien diet, highly processed high carb foods with known ingredients that cause metabolic syndromes. Instead of fixing it, we push a narrative that a calorie is a calorie no matter where it comes from.. this is utter nonsense. Glucose sugar uses a completely different pathway and is invovled in the creation of ATP. Fructose doesnt do that, it actually inhibits ATP production. Processed food with high fructose corn syrup is alarmingly bad for you.

Fructose processes on a similar pathway as alcohol. We know we are supposed to limit alcohol or it causes damage to the liver. Why do you think we now are finding non alcoholic fatty liver disease in kids?! Fructose!

Tip of the iceberg but our food is the cause of our health issues. High insulin levels in the blood prevent the body from using fat stores, you literally cant use your stored body fat if your insulin level is too high.

The traditional low fat high carb diet litterally makes people fat and causes cardio and metabolic diseases.

The federal govt nonsense food pyramid, the fallacy that breakfast is the most important meal of the day(literally a breakfast cereal slogan, marketing not truth), and ultra processed foods are the cause of Americas health epidemic. We did it all for a little profit.

Everyone knows the reason for the increase in fat people, it's the lack of activity, not fructose. Fructose is not the same as alcohol.

are you a cellular biologist? Do you not understand that the metabolism upregulates and down regulates? You know it regulates based on areobic/exercise activity and non exercise activity? You do know WHY they tell ADHD kids to exercise for 15 minutes every morning right? because the amount of non exercise activity goes down so kids sit still in class. The amount of exercise is offset with decreased non exercise activity to conserve energy to a natural set point.

Look up the pathway of fructose.. learn something. It responds nothing like glucose in the body. While every cell in the body can use glucose, the liver is the only organ that can metabolize fructose in significant amounts.(like alcohol)

You have no idea what you are talking about when you say fat people are fat due to lack of exercise.

Indeed.

I completely quit drinking alcohol over a year ago. My body can't handle it and it makes me nauseous after a few drinks. Its one of the best decisions I ever made. Recently studies show that alcohol increases the chances of cancer dramatically.

I also started taking Ubiquinol, NAC, Cod Liver oil, citrus bergamot and switched to a very high protein diet which completely fixed my cholesterol and cut my triglycerides by more than half. These nootropics and diet is non negotiable for men over 35, otherwise your probability of heart disease and a short life skyrocket.

As one of those with a few gray hairs and cholesterol challenged, what are these nootropics that you take? Also, you listed several things that you take, do you mind explaining what each one helps with?

What I listed are nootropics, basically supplements. You can buy them OTC.

Citrus Bergamot (taken daily)
1) Increases HDL (good cholesterol)
2) Decreases LDL (bad cholesterol)
3) Decreases triglycerides (fat in blood)
4) Decreases inflammation (lower IL-8)
5) Decreases blood glucose

Berberine and Lycopene can be taken as well for this. Lycopene is synergistic with berberine for lipid management purposes.

NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine). I take a few times a week.
1) Powerful antioxidant (cysteine donor & glutathione precursor)
2) Beneficial for mental health (Depression, OCD, Bipolar)
3) Powerful liver detox agent
4) Neuroprotective
5) Cardioprotective
6) Supports the immune system

I hyper dose NAC when I get a cold or the flu and it reduces symptoms dramatically and ill recover quickly.

Uniquinol is a stronger/better form of CoQ10.

Cod Liver oil is the best source for omega 3s.

When blood glucose is lower you'll burn more triglycerides for energy. I'd focus on getting lean & cutting out simple sugars from diet. Most importantly substitute saturated fats for monounsaturated fats (olive oil & avocados for example).

When blood glucose is lower you'll burn more triglycerides for energy. I'd focus on getting lean & cutting out simple sugars from diet. Most importantly substitute saturated fats for monounsaturated fats (olive oil & avocados for example).
wow, good info. Appreciate it. Will read up on it.

Tempus is the dumbest MF on this site.
Yeah, cause every legitimate site says we are too fat because we eat too much and are too sedentary. Not my fault you're an idiot. Has absolutely nothing to do with one food group like fructose, moron.

nobody is arguing that Americans dont eat to much clown..

I told you what they are eating is wrong. Eat how I tell you for 90 days, you will have lost a ton of weight, your energy level would be way up and you will have done zero exercise unless you wanted to..

Weight loss has nothing to do with exercise and everything to do with nutrition(unless you are trying to get below the homeostatic balance aka "get shredded" as exercise helps keep muscle mass while losing body fat. A high protien diet will prevent muscle wasting during weightloss as long as you are above 12-18% body fat depending on your individual metaboloc set point)

Again, "eat too much and not enough exercise" statement is wrong. Eat too much of the wrong thing is more correct.

B.S. You're buying the propaganda of the TikTok nutritionist bought and paid for for by Big Sugar. While our more sedentary lifestyles have contributed to the rise of obesity, numerous studies have shown that the rise in fructose consumption, particularly from sources like high fructose corn syrup, are a major contributor to obesity, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and potentially certain cancers.

4th, got any free opinion on Doc's regimen listed above? What would you add or change? You seem to have a good handle on these type things.

Good stuff:

Things to add might be B complex, especially if you have issues with alcohol consumption/addictive tendencies (over eating or emotional eating is an addictive tendency).

120mg twice daily Ginko Biloba- really helps with memory and concentration

D3/k2 in combination for bone health

Nattokinaise if you have any history of blood pressure/stroke risk. do NOT take if already on blood pressure meds or blood thinners.

For sleep or stress relief: magnesium glyconate plus valarian, melatonin, GABA, and L Arginine. Tryptophan is also used by some in place of melatonin.

For men, managing stress and hormones is essential. As we age, resistance training 2 times a week becomes a must. A set of bodylastic resistance bands off Amazon is like a 40.00 home gym for older folks. Takes like 20 minutes twice a week to do mass motion exercises.

1-2 sets Bench press, overhead press, lat pull down, rows, squats and dead lifts. A little bicep and tricep isolation with a set of calf raises to failure. Pull the band fast, pause at max contraction, count between 4 and 6 on the release(making band shorter). Do not let the band become fully loose.. take a step back if you have to so the restistance stays through out the range of motion.

Eat 150 grams of protien daily, eat salad veggies with vinegar dressing, Vinegar helps with digestion and increases stomach acid ph in some people(shown to reduce heart burn) also slows down fat reuptake from the blood stream making it more likely to be burned than stored.

For losing weight, start off eating as close to zero carbs as possible. Do this for a couple weeks. After 2-4 weeks, you can re introduce small amounts of starchy carbs like rice or pasta. Approx 1 serving per day(1/2 cup cooked). You dont need any more than that unless you are training to do endurance based exercises.

Body weight can shift dramatically when going from high carb to low carb so it is best to be consistent with your macros day to day eating. If you gain or lose alot of weight in one or two days, its almost entirely water weight due to addition or depletion of glycogen stores.

Avoid snacking, most snacking is an emotional response.

Compress your eating window to between 6-8 hours and allow your body to process during the other16-18hrs of time. Autophagy works to clean up anything the body considers suboptimal for effecient function but it take longer periods of no nutrient input for some of these processes to happen.

Avoid foods that have more than 1-3 ingredients. Avoid highly process foods and foods high on glycemic index and insulin index.

Do not drink calories, drink water primarily. Unsweet tea and black coffee are ok for change of pace. Some people can use stevia but others cant use anything sweet to the tongue because the body thinks you ate sugar and will dose insulin. Typically, If you get hungry after drinking sweetened tea or coffee, your body sees it as sugar.

Men should only be eating and drinking out of stainless, glass or ceramic. Plastics release estrogen mimickng chemicals.

I'm pretty sure Tempus eats too much clown.

Plastics release estrogen mimickng chemicals.
.

Wow! Lots to um, digest there. I do appreciate such a detailed response. I'll try striking up the bands for sure. Working on dropping some pounds and triglycerides.
high triglyceride levels in the blood are typically because the body is not using what is consumed. By keeping your sugar intake low, the body is more likely to use the fats that are ingested.

The body will break down triglycerides and burn the three fatty chains as ketones and convert the glycerol backbone of the triglyceride into glucose through gluconeogenesis for food for the brain

Remember, February is heart health month. This month is a good time to get your coronary artery calcium CT scan. If you live in the Waco area, Ascension Providence, is doing these scans for $39 in february.

There are multiple factors for sure, but if you don't think high fructose corn syrup and seed oils are huge factors, you just don't want to see it.
Seed oils, corn syrup? Yeah, that's it. Laughable.
When they start removing high fructose corn syrup from everything, we'll see who's laughing.
