So, in summation, Steve Bannon was convicted in federal court but pardoned by Trump. Bannon was subsequently charged under New York law in state court, and he has apparently decided to plead guilty in order to avoid jail time, as Trump can't save his ass.

And this is all the fault of Democrats.

Thanks for clearing that up.
If Democrats had not blocked the wall, would Bannon have had an excuse to start the wall fund?

It's very clear to me that even though Bannon lied and stole the money of the poor weak minded people that believed him, it's the democrats fault. The dems are surely to blame for forcing Bannon to fleece the sheep. The dems should be locked up and Bannom should be free to screw more repubs out of their money.

Ok. I get it now. Trump didn't mean that he was literally, or really building a wall. He was speaking metaphorically. Silly me. I thought he was talking about a real physical wall. I took it for granted he really meant Mexico in one way or another would pay for the wall. I see the error of my ways. Thanks guys

Sick and twisted? Lol. Cmon Ty M.

Aside from insulting me and making a statement you think one party is not as bad as the other what did you say? Why don't we argue about Trump's new spiritual advisor?

Or if you want to make it personal we can. I won't mention anything about you.

Why don't we argue about the fact that a hostile regime in D.C is using our tax dollars for kickbacks, using tax dollars to maintain their power and using tax dollars for propaganda so that media doesn't criticize them.

We've all followed the money which proves such. Let's talk about why you defend it.

What effort did TRUMP make to have Mexico pay?

Please show me where I have defended it. I havent. I have voted dem once. I think it was around 1990 I voted d for Buddy Skeen, a dem running for county tax collector. He was k
later arrested for stealing 1400 from the country. Never voted dem since. I voted straight repub. from 1980 and Reagan till McCain. I admired his military but thought he was too liberal in several areas. Couldnt pull the trigger on the guy that wore funny underwear. Did vote for both Bushes and Dole.

We can argue wasting and stealing money all you want Dems do it. I know. I dont vote for them. Repubs do it. Trump spent 890,000 to fly to a game he left at halftime. If you add in all the protection cost is was well over a million. And DOGE said nothing. How many other presidents spend that much money going to a football game? I am glad someone has been appointed to check up on the gov spending money. I would not have chosen someone that has an electric car company that has recieved 87 million dollars in grants, or a rocket company that gets even more in gov contracts. I think he has 16 business operations that rely on some government money. Great idea. The first time Trump ran he said he would divulge his finances if nominated. He was nominated but guess what? He did show his finances. Trump said he would end Ukraine war and lower groceries in a day. Of course I didnt believe him but he didnt even try. He was too busy installing his friends and donors. I predict he will lower the debt by a small amount to justify lowering taxes for the rich, My taxes will go up for one more year.

America is spiraling down. We will be run by several rich guys. I think the three richest guys were on the stage the other night. Oligarchy? They got more attention than the real cabinet members. Until America learns to elect real leaders instead of old washed up has been and flim flam reality show hosts we are in trouble.

Pay for what? Democrats stopped the wall so there was no amount to charge them. Tariff threats were used to help implement Remain in Mexico instead of being used to recoup the cost of building the wall .

US Govt estimates it costs the taxpayer about $10,000 per year per illegal alien

Thus far Trump is deporting 700 illegal aliens per day

Thereby saving USA approx $70,000,000 per day

Annual run rate of $2.55 bbbbbbbbillion per year

Wall paid for

Ta duhhhhhhhhhhhh

*those numbers should continue to trend higher over time

I haven't kept up with this but apparently Bannons "we build the wall" fund may have had some fraud. Trump pardoned this guy, and NY is allowing a plea deal with no prison. So maybe it's a shaky or purely political case. Anyone kept up?

Personally, if he defrauded, I want him and all these similar criminals, left or right, to spend some time in jail.

I have always thought Bannon was a sketchy character. Apparently Trump pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich today. This guy is no doubt a crook and tried to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat.

Trump still makes some piss poor decisions regarding who he hangs out with. Like the old saying goes, if you sleep with the dogs, more than likely you will end up with fleas.

Not an expert, but IIRC this was a legitimate case and there seemingly was fraud.

The problem is it is hard to find the one or two examples of legitimate prosecutions in a banana republic.

Are you ok? You remind me of my purple-haired, tatted, mentally unstable cousin who wailed the night Trump got elected.

We know you're upset that a neocon like McCain wasn't on the ballot this election cycle, but I promise you the country will survive the next 4 years of peace with the rest of the world, non-interventionist foreign policy, closed borders, subscribing to science when it comes gender, and traditional family values. I short, it's going to be ok, I promise. Your guy might win next time.

How Steve Bannon Fleeced MAGA Donors
He pleads guilty to defrauding the people he claims to represent.

Listeners to Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast might want to know why he pleaded guilty Tuesday to defrauding donors who gave money to try to build a private border wall. Yes, this case was in blue New York. But the feds hit Mr. Bannon with similar charges in 2020. Mr. Bannon received a pardon in the last hours of President Trump's first term.

Mr. Bannon's plea deal includes no jail time if he keeps his nose clean for three years. The indictment, announced in 2022 by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, alleged that a group called We Build the Wall had raised millions by promising that "100% of your money goes towards the wall," and that its leadership would "not take a penny of compensation from these donations."

In reality, according to the indictment, "Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1 received over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in secret salary payments." Some of that cash was allegedly routed through "entities controlled by Bannon," it said. "Bannon was informed in a text message from Unindicted Co-Conspirator 2 that Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1 would be stating publicly that he would not be taking a penny from the donations. Bannon responded '[Unindicted Co-Conspirator Entity 1] can pay him.'"

The Justice Department's indictment made the scheme sound even sleazier. Federal prosecutors alleged that a nonprofit controlled by Mr. Bannon "received over $1,000,000," a substantial portion of which was quietly used "to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in BANNON's personal expenses." Some donors to We Build the Wall said "they did not have a lot of money and were skeptical about online fundraising campaigns." But because they trusted the cause, "they were giving what they could."

Mr. Bannon pleaded not guilty in the federal case, and he was then sprung from liability by Mr. Trump's pardon. Two of the other defendants pleaded guilty and went to prison. A third was convicted by a jury and received 63 months. Mr. Trump's pardon message called Mr. Bannon "an important leader in the conservative movement," and it didn't even attempt to grapple with the charges or justify invalidating them.

Grandstanding as a populist, Mr. Bannon raised millions from concerned plumbers and truck drivers and retirees, and then secretly siphoned off money. Maybe he thinks MAGA stands for Make America Grift Again.
